We are a wholesale grower of bare root and Grow Ready Liners ™. Our mission is to grow
a wide variety of high demand plants that delivery quality and great value.
Together we have been growing for 29 years. We are excited to offer new varieties and
production practices that will help you be successful. We continue to see demand in a
wider variety of plants. You will find over 20 new varieties in our Grow Ready Liner ™
program. Grow Ready Liners ™ are grown in a root pruning container and shipped to you
in a plantable and biodegradable net. This packaging allows them to be stacked with your
bare root material for more economical shipping. They are ready to plant right off the
truck. With their ease of transplanting and vigorous 1st years growth, you can now have
excellent results with varieties that used to be hard to transplant and difficult to find.
Growing a wider range of plant material will give you an advantage over your competition.
We have an excellent team of employees and sales people to assist you. The next generation of the nursery is in good hands with Chris and Josh being promoted to Production

Here at A. Brown & Sons we are amazed at Robinson Nursery’s new ideas. We are in our fourth year of planting Robinson’s container clump Heritage and River Birch. Our results:
1. Great uniformity with five individual trees spaced around the container.
2. Almost perfect transplanting results.
3. No more time consuming spacing of individual trees, no special care, no sweating.
4. Quick turnaround.
5. No transplant shock
EF Nursery has done business with Robinson Nursery for years. We started by ordering small lots and have built up our numbers
as needed. We have found the quality at Robinson Nursery to be excellent and the pricing to be more than fair. When we have
had any problems with the stock, their customer service has come through and taken care of us in a timely manner.
One aspect that we really like about Robinson Nursery is their container liner program. There are varieties that do not do well
bare root and do much better in a container. We feel that it gives some varieties a much needed start to growing. All in all we
will be doing business with Robinson for many years to come.
We have been purchasing trees from Robinson Nursery for many years now and we are very pleased with the quality. The new
production Grow Ready Liners™ are very useful at spring time, and during the entire planting process. The growth results are
great.

Terms
Claims for any cause must be made in writing within 10 days of receipt of
shipment. Any stock rejected must be reported immediately and held for
advice from us as to disposition. In no case should stock be returned to us
without prior authorization. We will gladly entertain such reports and
make satisfactory adjustments when claims are definitely established. We
shall in no case be liable for any sum greater than the amount originally
received for said nursery stock and will not entertain claims after stock
has once been accepted. Cancellations must be made in writing and received by us prior to the December 15th preceding the originally requested shipping date. Orders canceled after December 15th are subject to a
10% restocking charge.
All customers must fill out and sign our confidential credit application and
purchase order agreement. This is a standardized form developed by the
nursery industry and provides the basic information necessary for the
extension of credit.
If changes are necessary, we try to communicate this by mid-October. In
order to insure that repeat customers are taken care of, all of last years
order will be held off inventory until August 1st. You will be contacted in early summer to reserve your plants and make any changes. After August 1st,
all remaining plants become open inventory and are available on a first
come, first serve basis. We believe this policy will allow you to have confidence in receiving the nursery stock you need from Robinson Nursery.
All plant whips are sold in multiples of 10. Please consider this when ordering. Plants ordered in multiples of 5 will be rounded to the next highest 10.
Minimum order for a pool truck is $1500.
Orders are accepted on the condition that they shall be void should injury
befall stock from any act of God or any cause beyond our control. All orders are accepted subject to crop conditions or errors in count.
All shipments travel at the risk and expense of the buyer. Cost of boxing or
bailing to be added.
We are required to pay our truck brokers within 15 days of your delivery.
We require that your shipping bill be paid within 7 days of invoicing.
Our minimum standards are those adopted by the American Association
of Nurserymen. We strive to deliver a superior size product.
We give no warranty, expressed or implied, as to life, description, quality,
productiveness, or any other matter of any nursery stock that we sell. It
is mutually agreed that our total liability for any error, should stock prove
untrue to name as labeled, shall be limited, upon satisfactory proof, of our
replacing free or refunding the purchase price.
We establish our inventory from field counts in the spring. Eighty percent
of total counts are used to establish saleable numbers. Initial sizing is
based on an average of past years’ growth for each variety. Another count
is done in mid-September. Every 10th plant is graded to establish an accurate inventory. Only 85% of this inventory will be sold until final gradeout.
Net is due 30 days from date of invoice for firms with established credit.
Satisfactory references are required prior to shipment for those customers
unknown to us. Interest will be charged at the rate of 1½% per month (annual percentage rate of 18%) on all past due accounts.
Invoice must be paid within 30 days of receipt of shipment to qualify for
volume discount.

Care of Bareroot Trees
Sweating is a process used to force bud break and activate growth in dormant nursery stock. The
goal is to re-hydrate plants by increasing temperature and humidity surrounding the dormant
tree. A temperature of 50 to 60 degrees F is optimum. We suggest sweating the following genera:

If you have had trouble with any of these trees in the
past, this simple step may save you headaches.
The process is fairly easy. It is best done out of direct sunlight so that excessive temperatures do
not build up. Place a layer of moistened burlap, straw, or sawdust on the ground. Soak the tree
roots in water. Shake off excess moisture and lay the trees down on the moist media. You may
wish to spray the trees with a mold inhibiting fungicide to be on the safe side. Cover the trees
with another layer of moist media. Finally, cover everything with a tarp or piece of plastic and
seal the edges. Check the trees daily for swelling buds. You should see results in 3 – 4 days.
Sweating should not be done until you can plant the tree out, and the threat of cold temperatures
has passed. Tender young tissues will be damaged in sudden cold weather.
The roots are the main storehouse of energy during the dormant season. Most of the energy used
by the tree in the first six weeks of new growth in the spring comes from this stored energy. We
suggest that in preparing your bare root tree for planting, you remove as little root as possible.
Prune any broken roots back to solid wood, and make a fresh tip cut at the end of large roots.
The more energy the tree has available, the sooner it will reestablish itself, and the faster it will
grow to a saleable size.
Traditionally, the canopy of bare root trees was pruned to adjust the “root to shoot ratio”. Several
years ago, researchers suggested that when buds swell, break, and begin to grow, they are
producing auxins which are translocated to roots and promote new growth. They suggested that
a bare root tree will reestablish itself more rapidly if left un-pruned the first growing season. It is
our experience that this is true for shade trees. We have noticed, however that
,

respond more vigorously when pruned. We suggest removing up to half the canopy of
these flowering trees at planting time.
Planting depth is a hot topic among arborists these days, mainly because so many trees fail
because of being planted too deep. For optimal growth and successful development of your tree,
planting depth is critical. When the tree is planted and settled in, the main anchoring roots
should be only 2 or 3 inches below the soil level. While it is better to plant your tree a little too
high than too low, roots exposed to the sun will sunscald.
