une! You’d think the season would be winding down but, it appears,
Pompano Beach, not to mention the rest of South Florida, seems to
get less and less “seasonal” as regards events every year. The roads
and venues may be less crowded but the calendar remains full.

Music Under the Stars continues unabated, and even in the summer,
the beach - with its constant breezes - is a delightful place to be on a
Friday evening. ArtHall continues too, and gets bigger and better every
month. Besides being free (our favorite word), both events are a great
way to enjoy some fabulous music and terrific local art - and did we
mention that they’re free?
In this month of weddings, John Knox Village is celebrating its 45th
anniversary with a special community “renew your vows” celebration
- boy, doesn’t that sound like a happy event? On a more pedestrian but
eminently enjoyable note, check out the Intergalactic Bead Show, always
out of this world. Channel your inner patriot at the Skolnick Center,
too - whatever your pleasure, there’s something happening somewhere!

Music Under the Stars
The Pompano Beach Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts department
invites you to join them for an evening of music under the stars
featuring ‘Classic Rock Therapy’. The music kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
at Atlantic Boulevard & Pompano Beach Boulevard (on the ‘Great
Lawn’). Music Under the Stars is a monthly reoccurring event
scheduled for the 2nd Friday of every month.

Have You Been Married 45 Years or Longer? Be Our Guest to
Celebrate! On Thursday, June 20th at 2 p.m., John Knox Village is
celebrating its 45th Anniversary as a sharing and caring community.
We would like to extend that feeling of kinship to all our area
couples who have been married 45 years or longer. You are invited
to join us to participate in a wedding vow renewal celebration.
Special recognition will be given to the longest married couple. The
commemorative event will include a cutting of the wedding cake,

The Intergalactic Bead & Jewelry Shows (IBJS) once again comes
to the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Patriotic Concert
7-9pm at the Herb Skolnick Center
The American Legion Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr.
James McGonigal, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, sponsored
by the American Legion 9th District, which comprises the entirety
of Broward County. With over 75 professional and amateur
musicians who volunteer their time and talents, the band provides
live music for enjoyment throughout the tri-county Area (Broward,
Palm Beach, Dade). The band was founded in January 2004 by
Arthur Tenny, a veteran of Viet Nam and a member of American
Legion Post 142. Art and a number of other charter members had
been associated for years with the bands of Dr. Robert M. Lacey,
who, up until his death in 2004, had been serving the Deerfield and
Pompano Beach communities with live community band music.
The desire of Mr. Tenny, in forming this new organization, was
to continue the tradition of live concert band music in the south
Florida area, and at the same time, honor all of our veterans, as
well as, those who are serving so nobly as members of our armed
forces. The American Legion Symphonic Band is one of only a
few community concert bands in South Florida and is the only
American Legion affiliated band in the State of Florida.
