USING THIS SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE
We have provided all the Scriptures referenced in the sermon and some
discussion questions for you to use to facilitate a discussion.
This Sermon Discussion Guide is only a tool to aid you in meeting the needs of
your group. For most groups, there are too many questions to answer in one
session together. While the questions are important, remember your small group’s goal is not to
pound through the questions but to create an atmosphere that will foster true
friendships, so knock yourself out with the discussion questions but spend
more time laughing than answering the questions.
The Holy Spirit does not position us where we are on accident;
He puts us on assignment.
[Genesis 1.1-2, NLT]
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth
was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And
the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
[Revelation 22.17, NLT]
The Spirit and the bride say, "Come."
[Luke 3.21-22, NLT]
One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was
baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy
Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from
heaven said, "You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great
joy."
[Luke 4.1, NLT]
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He
was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.
[Luke 4.14, NLT]
Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit's power.
Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region.
God wants your belief to be more than a faith; He wants it to be
an experience, a life.
The Holy Spirit's Job in Believers:
He FILLS
GOD on the INSIDE versus GOD on the OUTSIDE
He wants to live in you and reside in you.
He LEADS
You're not smart enough to hit the target in your life. Some of us
don't even know what the destination is.
"Holy Spirit, help me to take the right steps."
He EMPOWERS
- He empowers to live right.
- He empowers you to minister powerfully
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. What are some things you depend on daily? What limitations
would you have if those resources or people were missing?
2. What would it be like if we started engaging The Holy Spirit in
conversation constantly?
3. How has God "renovated" and "decorated" the house of your
life? (changes, fruit of the Spirit produced, etc.)
4. Where has the Holy Spirit led you to go? (destinations,
decisions, and deposits?) Has he ever had to reroute you
after one of your choices? What did the timeframe and
refinement process look like?
5. What is one way you are growing in your relationship with
The Holy Spirit?
