General Information
The UNHRD team warmly welcomes you to Accra and wishes you a pleasant stay while in Ghana.
UNHRD Accra is pleased to provide you with a fully equipped training centre where any type of
humanitarian training can be undertaken. UNHRD’s Training Centre is located in UNHRD’s
secure
compound adjacent to Kotoka International Airport in Accra; a site of approximately 33,000m 2.
The following services are available:

Availability of Training Centre premises;

Secretarial and hotel booking support before and during the training;

Provision of standard stationery items and availability of photocopying and printing facilities;

Access to the Internet (wireless or LAN), telephones and fax machine;

Provision of transport to and from the hotel; and

Availability of catering services.
Moreover, as part of WFP’s efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and disaster response,
humanitarian organisations can also use the training facilities with scenario-based exercises and
simulations to prepare local partners, government counterparts, contractors and WFP staff. Among
others, the simulation could include rapid set-up of logistics hubs, typically comprising of mobile
storage units, prefabricated offices, power supply and lighting equipment.
The Accra depot is part of UNHRD’s global network that facilitates the prepositioning and stockpiling
of relief items for the humanitarian community close to where they may be needed in emergencies.
This depot has been operational since 2009 and recently moved to a refurbished premise. The new
building was completed in March 2014 and was made possible through the generous contributions
from various donors.
The depot’s state-of-the-art facilities consist of:

An administrative building with a total floor area of approximately 850m 2 for the offices and
training facilities;

Two large warehouses (c. 2,000m2 each) for storage of non-food items and equipment;

One temperature-controlled warehouse (500m2) for storage of food items;

One temperature-controlled warehouse (500m2) for storage of medical items;

A ‘walk-in’ cold room/freezer storage (c. 40m2) for vaccine and medicine storage; and

Extensive external parking and ‘hard-stands’ for container storage c. 25,000m2

The Training Centre
The Training Centre is located on the first floor of the UNHRD building and is comprised of:

One large conference room equipped with a conference table for up to 18 people, plus
additional capacity to accommodate up to 40 participants.

Three breakout rooms capable of accommodating up to 10 people; and

A fully equipped dining area.

Training Center terms and conditions
The requestor shall:

Communicate a minimum of two months in advance of their course requirements in terms of the
number of participants and the tentative schedule.

Communicate a complete list of participants/trainers/facilitators and agenda for the training
minimum two weeks in advance.

Agree to pay administrative and catering fees as per attached Table A (page 6). Any other
additional
expenses incurred by WFP-UNHRD on behalf of the requestor, for services not
included in this package, will also have to be covered.

Financial Information
Agreement to be formalized through the issuing of a Proforma Invoice to be signed by the requestor.
UNHRD will recover all expenditures through the issuance of a Debit Note.
The payment will be effected via bank transfer according to the instructions provided in the debit
note, within 30 days of receipt of the same.

The USD rates are based on the assumption up to 5 days of training and to provide all services
detailed below*. Meeting rooms for 10 persons or less, for a maximum of 5 hours will be free of
charge.
