Wine Maker Tilman Quiens is coming to The Market at The Cheshire
to sample his wines from Valckenberg Winery of Germany. Taste six
wines from the portfolio alongside an assortment of local cheeses and
local homemade sausages. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by
calling 314.932.7818 (The Restaurant) to reserve your spot to The
Market’s wine tasting event.
Italian for ‘strong bread’, we use this
dessert as an accompaniment for our
‘Formaggi e Salumi’ Plate. The spicy mix
of nuts and dried fruit cooked with some
honey and lemon is the perfect pairing
with cheese, cured meats and even a scoop
of gelato.

1 lemon, zest and juice
¼ cup water
¼ cup sugar
-in a small pan, cook the water lemon zest
and juice and sugar on medium for 5 minutes
until the sugar is dissolved and the zest is soft
1.5 cups slivered toasted almonds
½ cup dried figs
1 cup medjool dates, pitted
¼ t ground cinnamon
¼ t ground ginger
2 t pink peppercorns
½ cup honey
cup toasted hazelnuts
1 T ap flour
pinch salt
- combine the remaining ingredients with the
lemon/sugar/water mixture and bring to a boil
-boil for 6 minutes and carefully pour into a,
8” cake pan or pie tin lined with plastic wrap
and sprayed with non stick baking oil
-refrigerate for at least 4 hours, flip the pan
for te onto a plate and slice as needed
-store in the refrigerator
