INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS IN PERU
Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola hosts international students from universities around the world. Students can study in Peru for
1 semester or a year.
The programs offer international students the possibility of complementing their studies, exchanging knowledge with professors
and local students, gaining international experience and visiting a country with many tourist attractions and exquisite cuisine.
SEMESTER IN LIMA
Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) has strategic alliances with more than 90 universities through exchange programs, work/
study programs, and international programs in Peru, among others. Students may enroll in any of the 22 academic programs USIL
offers, which are taught on our Lima campus. Because a firm command of a second language is a must, USIL students are able
to choose courses in Spanish or English (double curriculum). English is taught during the first seven semesters of the academic
program of your choice. Students have the opportunity to learn English within a contextual framework, with technical vocabulary
and topic-based learning.
BENEFITS
International students have the opportunity to meet local students, improve their language skills, and learn about the culture.
Classes may be taken in Spanish or English, from March through July and from August through December. Many of our international
students stay at our residence conveniently located in the city, enjoying the facilities offered to make their stay in Peru pleasant.
La Casa Don Ignacio offers our international students the chance to meet other students from around the world.
SEMESTER IN CUSCO PROGRAM
SUMMER IN CUSCO PROGRAM
Students take courses in our recently opened USIL International Extension Center and live in our university residence, La Casa de
Don Ignacio – Cusco, which is within walking distance from the USIL International Extension Center. Students take several courses,
some of which are taught in English and others in Spanish, like courses related to the history of the Incas, the contemporary culture
of our country and South America, the photographic techniques in the most tourist city of the region, the biodiversity of the twelve
most biodiverse countries of the world, and so on. Students must take a Spanish Language Placement Test to determine whether
they will be taking a beginning, intermediate, or advanced Spanish language course.
BENEFITS
International students may enroll in a regular semester, which lasts 5 months, or in a summer program, which lasts 5 to 6 weeks.
This is a wonderful opportunity to study and live in the most important landmark city in South America and visit Machu Picchu, one
of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
SPANISH AND CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAM
USIL has created the Spanish and Cultural Immersion Program, a fun way to learn Spanish, in Lima and in Cusco. Due to bilateral
relations between Spanish speaking countries and many other countries around the world, the use of the Spanish language is
becoming important and necessary in economy, gastronomy, international trade, communications, and tourism. Excursions will give
each student a better view of our history, culture, and customs.
BENEFITS
Study Spanish and enjoy the opportunity to participate in the excursions that USIL has prepared for you.
