2. Mercredi Show: Posters and flyers are in. Tom Meyers will coordinate the flyers for the
masses at St. Peter’s Church on August 30th and 31st. The dance floor and drum riser will be set up on
Wednesday, August 27th.
3. Turf Project/Renovations - Pelican Park: The only items left are on the bathroom punch list
and the staining of the wood.
4. Fruge Property: Final Ordinance was approved at the August 18th Carencro City Council
meeting. The attorney is working on the sale agreement.
5. Recreation Center Project: Jay Castille is working with bond attorney and auditor to make
certain that everything all mechanics are in place for the bond application. Tom Meyers visited Carencro
Catholic School to get information on their gym floor. They used Sport Court flooring costing $10$12/sf. David Anderson obtained information on the bleachers. Portable bleachers will cost $1,745 each
and stadium bleachers will cost $1,499 to $2,395 each. David also talked to a company about telescoping bleachers, but they would not provide a cost over the phone. Greg Brown provided a cost estimate to
add 1 and 2 basketball courts. One court will cost about $1,043,920 and two will cost about $1,449,050.
Jim Thibodeaux contacted Charles Dawson with GeoSuraces for the turf and shock pad will cost about
$181,000 and new lighting will cost about $43,000. The Commission will continue the work of fine tuning the estimates including the parking lot.
6. 25th Twinning Anniversary of Carencro and Dieppe: Murray Conque updated the Commission on the Mercredi Show in Dieppe. Dominique Dupuis fell ill before the concert and Sheryl Cormier
played the whole show. There was no dancing, which is usual. The crowd stayed for the full performance. Dieppe was very hospitable.
7. Pelican Park Lights: All poles are up. They will return in 1 to 2 weeks to set and focus them.
8. Pelican Park Roof: Completed. No more leaks.
9. Pelican Park Electrical: Completed. Fans are installed in dugouts.
10. Pelican Park Drainage: Having trouble between rains and availability of concrete.
11. Pelican Park Sidewalk (Mercredi Show Stage): Still needs some finish work on the concrete.
12. Pelican Park Metal: Contractor is to take a look at the metal and recommend solution.
New Business:
Pelican Park Report:
A. Cajun Classic had 56 teams
B. Men’s state had 46 teams
C. Summer league began August 1, 2014. Friday night Spring session will finish this Friday, August 22nd.
D. Knights of Columbus State was small.
E. Coed State had 36 teams.
F. Pelican Park will be closed Labor Day Weekend.
G. Turf cleaning is 100 percent complete.
With no further business to discuss, Greg Brown motioned to adjourn; Sarah Menard seconded; motion
