Dear customer,
Congratulations on purchasing a high quality MAGINON product.
You have acquired a modern portable cassette converter with excellent technical features and
respective accessories, which is particularly easy to operate.
Please study this information in detail observing, in particular, the safety instructions.
The device comes with a 3 year warranty. You will need the enclosed warranty card and
your sales receipt in the event of the portable cassette converter developing a fault.
Keep these in a safe place together with the Instruction Manual.
Please include the Instruction Manual when passing on the portable cassette converter to a third party.

3. Hazard, safety and warning notices
Incorrect use of the portable cassette converter and accessories can be dangerous
for you and others and can damage or destroy the portable cassette converter.
We therefore ask you to read and strictly observe the following Hazard, safety
and warning notices.
Intended use
„„ This portable cassette converter is intended for converting and playing back
analog audio cassettes. It has been designed for private use and is not suitable
for commercial purposes.
Hazards for children and persons with limited ability to operate
electronic equipment
„„ The player, accessories and packaging are not toys for children. These should
therefore always be kept away from children. Danger of electrocution,
poisoning and suffocation.
„„ The player and accessories may not be used by children and persons with
restricted abilities to use equipment. The player may only be used by persons
physically and mentally able to operate them safely.
Electrocution hazard in wet and humid conditions
„„ Do not expose player and USB cable to dripping or spray water. Also do not
place any containers filled with liquid, such as vases or glasses on top or
immediately next to the device. Danger of fire and electrocution.
Electrical hazard
„„ Switch off portable cassette converter if a foreign body or liquid has entered the portable cassette converter. Wait until completely dry, there is danger of fire and electrocution.
„„ Switch off player if housing is damaged, there is danger of fire and electrocution.

„„ The portable cassette converter may not be dismantled, modified or repaired,
there is danger of fire and electrocution.
Damage from heat – fire hazard
„„ Do not leave portable cassette converter in places that are susceptible to
considerable increases in temperature (e.g. a vehicle). The housing and internal
parts may be damaged, which in turn could cause a fire.
„„ Do not wrap up player or place on textiles. This could produce a build up of
heat in the portable cassette converter that can cause deformation of the
housing and may represent a fire hazard.
Hazards of using batteries
„„ Remove batteries from portable cassette converter if portable cassette
converter is not used for some time.
„„ Risk of explosion in case of incorrect changing of batteries or use of wrong
type of batteries. Only use LR6 (AA) batteries; 1.5 V or a NiMh batteries with
the same specification.
„„ Never expose batteries to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight, fire, etc., as
otherwise danger of fire. Consequently do not store batteries near fire, ovens
or other heat sources.
„„ Keep battery out of reach of children.
„„ Do not throw batteries into fire, short-circuit batteries or take batteries apart.
Danger of explosion.
„„ Batteries must be disposed of in line with the Battery Directive.
Injuries and material damage
„„ Do not operate portable cassette converter whilst running or driving. You could fall or cause a traffic accident.
„„ Ensure adequate ventilation and do not cover the player to prevent overheating.

„„ Do not place any open ignition sources, such as lit candles onto or close to the
player.
„„ Damage to the electronics or to the housing caused by external influences,
such as electric shocks, falls or others are not covered by the warranty and
shall thus be charged for.
Listening to headphones at high volume can cause
permanent and irrepairable hearing loss!

4. Your portable cassette converter

5. Start
5.1. Open and close cassette compartment
Open the cover of the cassette compartment to insert and remove an audio
cassette or to insert the batteries by moving the side slider in the direction
marked “Open”. The cover opens
automatically. To close the cassette compartment again, press
the slide again in the direction
marked “Open” and then release
for the slide to engage.
5.2. Insert batteries
The portable cassette converter can be supplied with power by using batteries,
a USB connection or a 3V power
supply. To insert batteries into
the player, open the cassette
compartment as described in section 5.1. Next, open the battery
compartment and insert two LR6
batteries or rechargeable batteries of the same specification
in the battery compartment, as
shown in the adjacent illustration.
Finally, close the battery compartment again.

5.3. Insert audio cassette
To insert an audio cassette in the player first open the cassette compartment as
shown in section 5.1. Next insert the audio cassette in the cassette compartment
as shown in the below illustration and close the cassette compartment again.
5.4. Connect earphone
You can listen to music played on the
portable cassette converter by plugging in an earphone or headphones
as shown in the adjacent illustration.
Connection is provided via a 3.5 mm
(1/8”) jack plug.

6. Playing back audio cassettes
Once an audio cassette has been inserted in the player and the device is
connected to power, the audio cassette can be played back.
„„ Press  button to start playback of the audio cassette.
„„ To stop playback, press  button.
„„ Press  button to wind the cassette forward. End the fast
forward operation by pressing the  button.
„„ Press the  button to rewind the cassette. End the rewind
operation by pressing the  button.
„„ Use side volume controls to regulate volume.
Upon reaching the end of the cassette, the cassette can be turned to listen to the second side.

7. Digitize recordings
7.1. System requirements
„„ Windows® XP/Vista/7/8

7.2. Install software
Install the « Audacity » program to transfer music from the audio cassette
converter to your computer and to convert it into MP3 format.

Insert the supplied CD ROM in the CD/DVD drive of your computer. The
welcome screen appears.
Click on the name of the desired software.
Follow the instructions on screen to carry out the installation.
Note:
• Please back up your data, prior to installing the supplied software. The
manufacturer shall not be liable for any data loss.
• If the CD does not install automatically, the software installation can be
activated manually from My Computer.
• Further information about the use of the software can be found under
the Help function of the program or on the Internet under
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

7.3. Connect to computer
Connect the portable cassette converter to your computer using the supplied
USB cable. Plug the mini USB connector into the player and the other end into an
unassigned USB port of your computer.
The player sets itself up on the computer as a USB microphone.
7.4. Use of software
Start the « Audacity » program by double clicking on the respective symbol on
your Desktop. The following window arrears:

First, the portable cassette converter must be set up as the audio source in the
program by selecting Edit and Settings and then “Audio I/O” for adding “USB
microphone” or “USB audio device”.
Next, select File and New to create a new project for making the recordings.
To start recording, simultaneously press the  button on the player and
recording button 3 in the program (see illustration).

To end recording, press button 5 in the program.
After terminating a recording you can listen to it by using the control buttons of
the program. You can also cut or edit the recording. Further information about the
program functions of the « Audacity » software can be found in the help function
of the program.
As soon as you have completed editing the recording it can be played back in
MP3 format. In this format the recordings can be played back on all devices with
MP3 playback function.
To save a recording in MP3 format, select File and “Export as MP3…” from the
program. In the next window enter a folder on the hard disk and a name for the
recording file and then click on Save. You can then add further information about
the recording and confirm this by clicking on OK.
If during saving in MP3 format the message appears that the file “Lame_enc.dll”
has to be specified, you have to specify this on the hard disk. If the LAME
encoding software is not installed on your computer, you can download it from
lame.sourceforge.net and install it.

8. Conformity
This device was tested according to Part 15 of the FCC regulations and it was confirmed that the device
complies with the limit values for class B digital devices. The aim of these limit values is to provide
appropriate protection against adverse sources of interference in case of a domestic installation. If the
device is not installed in accordance with the instructions, it may cause interference for TVs, radios and
mobile radios.
This device may be operated provided that the following is being observed:
(1) This device may not cause any adverse interference.
(2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired
operation or operational faults.
In the event of radio or television reception being affected by this device – this can be easily tested
by switching the device on and off – the user should try to remedy the fault by taking the following
action:
• Turning the receiving aerial in another direction or changing its location.
• Increasing the distance between the device and the receiver.
• Contact your dealer or a radio/TV expert.
The Manufacturer hereby declares that the CE marking was applied to
the product in accordance with the basic requirements and other relevant
provisions of the following Directives:

The EC Declaration of Conformity can be requested from the address specified on the Warranty card.

9. Care
Do not use any corrosive cleaners, such as mentholated spirits, thinners, etc.
to clean the portable cassette converter housing and camera accessory. When
required, clean system components with a soft dry cloth.
10. Disposal
For disposal, separate packaging into different types and dispose of in
line with environmental regulations in supplied collection containers.
Batteries and storage batteries may not be disposed of in domestic
waste. Consumers are obliged by law to return used batteries to communal collection points or dealers selling batteries. Storage batteries
and batteries do therefore contain the adjacent symbol.
Correct disposal of product:
The adjacent symbol indicates that electrical and electronic equipment
may not be disposed of in domestic waste in
