Heavy Wire
Farm, Yard & Garden
We’ve Got Your Fence
The reasons for putting up a fence are as varied as the types of fencing materials. BlueLinx offers a
comprehensive assortment of high-quality light, medium and heavy gauge fencing materials
in a variety of styles, sizes and finishes to suit any need.
Heavy wire fencing protects and confines valuable livestock by presenting barriers to restrict animal
movement. This fencing consists of materials of sufficient strength to prevent or discourage animals
from going over, under, or through the fence. Traditional livestock fencing materials have included
barbed, woven, mesh, and electrified wire. New materials such as high tensile wire have gained
popularity because it is easy to handle, requires little maintenance, and relatively low-cost.
At BlueLinx we cater to all your fencing needs from traditional wires to hi tensile.

Deer and Game Fence
Specifically designed to be a safer
alternative to traditional horse fencing
systems, Non Climb horse fence is
made with continuous horizontal and
vertical wires and secured with an “S”
style knot that will flex and then return
to its original shape. The Mesh prevents
horses from stepping thru the fence
and comes in sizes small enough to
keep hooves out - including small foal
hooves if you raise horses.
Field Fence is manufactured in a
wide selection of heights and styles
featuring a graduated spacing that
starts with small openings at the
bottom which helps prevent entry
from small animals. Field Fence is
designed using a variety of spacing
configurations to accommodate cattle,
hogs and other large animals Roll
lengths are commonly 330’. Field
fence come in both traditional low
carbon and also in hi tensile.
Traditional livestock fencing materials
have included barbed and electrified
wire. The barbs on barbed wire are
offered in two varieties, 2 point or 4
point and is available in continuous
twist and reverse twist designs. New
materials such as high tensile wire
have gained popularity because
it is easy to handle, requires little
maintenance, and relatively lowcost. At BlueLinx we cater to all your
fencing needs from traditional wires
to hi tensile.
Hinge Knot
“S” Knot
Fixed Knot
Fence panels are designed for
multiple uses. Depending on your
needs, patterns vary from small to
large, short to tall. Fence panels are
made from wire rod, galvanized and
welded. The gauges of the wires
vary depending on the animal being
confined. Fence panels also offer
a fast and economical alternative
to wire fencing and wood fencing.
Utility panels offer security and
alternatives to wood banisters and
wire mesh in railing.
Refer to the style number shown in
the example.
10 The number of horizontal line wires
47 The total height of the fence in inches
6 The space in inches between the vertical line wires (pullout)
9 Gauge of the wires used in the body
Game Fence comes in a variety of
strengths, heights, lengths and knot
styles to accommodate protection
of orchards and confinement of
large game animals. Game fence is
designed with smaller openings at
the bottom and larger openings at
the top and comes in both traditional
low carbon and high tensile wire.
This knot is common in agricultural
fencing. The knot is formed by
wrapping the vertical stay wire
pieces around the line wire at each
intersection. This design can absorb
animal impact without damage.
Hinge joint is the economical knot
choice.
The construction of the “S” Knot
prevents the fence from buckling or
sagging. It provides extra strength
and rigidity with flexibility for ideal
installation over hilly terrain. The S
knot is smooth to the touch and strong
enough to resist animal impact.
The fixed knot utilizes solid vertical
stay wires, which increase the vertical
strength of the fence and allow for
increased post spacing. The knot is a
separate piece of wire tightly wrapped
around the line wire and stay wire.
Fixed knot is very resistant to animal
damage.
The gauge of the top and bottom
wires is often different from that of the
body and is noted in the tables.
Hi Tensile vs. Low Carbon wire
Agricultural fencing consists of low carbon wire or high tensile wire.
• Low carbon wire is easy to work with and somewhat forgiving, it is prone to elongation
(stretching and sagging) and is weaker than high tensile wire.

• The increased carbon content in high tensile wire significantly increases the wire’s strength
and reduces elongation. Because of these improvements, it is possible to replace low carbon
wire fencing with high tensile wire fencing of a smaller diameter.
• High tensile fencing is easier to install because of its lighter weight and requires fewer posts
during installation than low carbon fencing.
