Marketplace Overview
►Business aircraft sold on average 41 days (-7.8%) more quickly (483) during the first quarter of
2015 versus the same time one year ago (524). The time that jets were available for sale dropped
10.6 percent from 528 to 472 days. Turboprops’ average days on the market lowered to 510 from 513
for a 1.4 percent reduction.
►Business aircraft transactions dropped 17.7 percent (-238 aircraft) to 1,102 for the January through
March time period this year as opposed to 1,345 sales that occurred during 2014’s first quarter. This
compares to a 0.3 percent increase from 2013 to 2014 for the fleet. During the first quarter, new jets
transactions declined by 18 (-14.0%) from 129 to 111 while used jets lowered 19.8 percent (-148) from
747 to 599. New turboprop sales during the same time period declined 24 (-34.3%) to 46 from 70. Used
turboprops purchases reduced 48 (-12.0%), going from 399 to 351.
►Across the business aircraft fleet tracked in the Holstein Aviation Business Aircraft Market Perspective
(BAMP) Magazine, from where this data is derived, market values increased on 21 models and
decreased on the other 64. Individual model Average Asking Prices ranged from an increase of 26.8
percent for the Bombardier Challenger 601-3R to a 35.8 percent decrease logged by the Bombardier
Challenger 850. One year ago the 601-3R also held the top position for increases while the Gulfstream
G-IV recorded the largest decrease.
►Aircraft available for sale in BAMP ranged from nine fewer units (Learjet 31A) to 21 additional aircraft
(Piper Meridian). Inventory declines were logged by 44 models while 31 saw additional units come on
to the market. Ten models had no change. The Embraer Legacy 650 recorded the greatest inventory
percentage increase (700) while the Hawker 900XP registered the largest percentage decrease (43).
►Activity continues to run counter to conventional supply and demand theory on many aircraft in the
business aviation fleet. Only 40 of the 85 models tracked by BAMP had the Average Asking Price move in
the opposite direction of the number available for sale. Of the remaining aircraft, seven saw both aircraft
on the market and Average Asking Price increase while 28 had both figures decrease. Finally, 10 aircraft
had no change in availability, yet market value increased for one and decreased for the other nine.

Synopsis
Bombardier Challenger 300
Market Value Decreases for Challenger Series and
Bombardier Fleet Overall.
Even with 17 fewer aircraft available, the Bombardier
fleet Average Asking Price declined 10.4 percent.
Primary drivers were higher percentage market value
drops on all Global models and 12 more Challenger
aircraft for sale. Bombardier incurred the largest drop in
market value, followed by Gulfstream.
Challenger Average Asking Price increases were logged
by the 601-1A, 601-3R and 605, while the 300, 601-3A,
604 and 850 incurred decreases. The twelve additional
available Challenger models contributed to a 5.9
percent average market value drop for this series.
