Travel in style and comfort aboard The Ghan or Indian
Pacific in Platinum or Gold Service and take advantage
of the many facilities and services on offer. All on board
meals, beverages and Off Train Experiences are included
in your fare. Now you can sit back and enjoy the rail
journey and discover the destinations along the way with
truly memorable off train adventures.
Your holiday starts the moment you step on board.
Check-in on the train and relax with a drink in the
Outback Explorer Lounge up to 90 minutes before your
journey. Make yourself comfortable, and meet your host
and fellow travellers.
On the Indian Pacific, a Short Stop at Rawlinna on the
Nullarbor Plain is scheduled for all westbound journeys. On
The Ghan, Short Stops are scheduled for Marla and Manguri
in the far northern reaches of South Australia (depending on
direction of travel).
Off Train Excursions and Short Stops
Off Train Excursions offer extended stops of between two
and six hours at key destinations. Choose from a selection
of organised tours as part of your rail holiday. On The Ghan
there’s time to take a tour of the Outback town of Alice
Springs, explore an oasis of history, indigenous culture and
natural beauty. Choose from one of two included excursions
that explore this region including a tour of Alice Springs
Desert Park or Alice Explorer town tour. In the Top End, you’ll
witness the splendour of Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National
Park. The four day Ghan, operating Darwin to Adelaide
between May and August, also includes a full day Off Train
Excursion to the fascinating underground mining town of
Coober Pedy.
Take advantage of the Off Train Experiences and capture
the colour, character and culture of the Outback towns
along the route. Now you can enjoy two types of Off Train
Experiences – Short Stops and Off Train Excursions. Both
Short Stops and Off Train Excursions are included in all
Platinum and Gold Service fares.
On the Indian Pacific, Off Train Excursions are available at
Broken Hill, Adelaide and Kalgoorlie. Explore the heritage
and culture of the ‘Silver City’ Broken Hill and indulge in an
abundance of food, wine and history in the elegant South
Australian capital of Adelaide. On westbound journeys, choose
to visit the world-renowned Barossa Valley wine region.
Experience culinary excellence in the Queen Adelaide
Restaurant where dynamic contemporary Australian
menus reflect the finest produce sourced from the

world, travelling between Adelaide, Alice Springs
and Darwin. Pass steep escarpments, savannah
woodlands and tropical rainforests and watch the
desert landscape change from red to gold over three
unforgettable days. A journey on The Ghan can
commence in Adelaide, Alice Springs or Darwin.
Short Stops are a great way to stretch your legs during
the journey. Witness an unforgettable sunrise at Marla on
the Adelaide to Darwin journey and an amazing Outback
sunset at Manguri when travelling Darwin to Adelaide.
Board The Ghan in Adelaide and marvel at the
sweeping Adelaide Plains and take in the view of the
majestic Flinders Ranges as you wind your way to
Alice Springs. Leave the train in Alice Springs to enjoy
an Off Train Excursion. Experience an oasis of history,
Indigenous culture and natural beauty in the Outback
town of Alice Springs.
Back on the train, your journey to the lush tropics
of the Top End continues. Next stop, Katherine,
where you will have around four hours to witness the

The Ghan Rail Fares Include
4 Day Darwin to Adelaide
A new extended service of The Ghan from Darwin to
Adelaide has been introduced for travel from 23 May to
22 August. This journey will take you through the heart of
the Australian Outback on a four day adventure.
Depart Darwin and stop at Nitmulik Gorge in Katherine
where you can see millions of years of nature’s work and
discover the rich Dreamtime stories of the Top End. Arrive
the next morning into Alice Springs. The Alice Springs
stop has been extended to a full day to allow for a day
and night experience, featuring an Outback barbecue
experience under a canopy of stars at the magnificent
MacDonnell Ranges. For the first time ever, you also have
the opportunity to upgrade your journey to include a fly-in
visit to Uluru, getting back in time to rejoin The Ghan (own
expense).

Day 1 Saturday: Adelaide
Day 4 Tuesday: The Ghan – Katherine to Darwin
Arrive into Adelaide where you will be transferred
to your accommodation for the evening. Overnight
Crowne Plaza Adelaide.
Arrive in Katherine this morning. There’s time to look
around or enjoy an Off Train Excursion of Katherine
Gorge. Choose from several Off Train Excursion tours
including a Nitmiluk Gorge cruise or a Nitmiluk Gorge
Rock Art cruise. Continue the journey to Darwin. On
arrival, transfer to Vibe Hotel Darwin where you will
stay for the next three nights. (BL)
Day 2 Sunday: The Ghan – Adelaide to
Alice Springs
After breakfast, enjoy a short city tour of Adelaide
before transferring to the Adelaide Parklands Terminal
for The Ghan departure at 12:15pm. After boarding,
enjoy a light lunch in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant
as you travel north towards Spencer Gulf and Port
Augusta. Settle into your Gold Service sleeper cabin
or enjoy a drink with your tour guide and fellow
passengers in the Outback Explorer Lounge.

Day 3 Monday: The Ghan – Alice Springs to
Katherine
This morning stop in Marla and witness an
unforgettable Outback sunrise. Enjoy views of the
Central Australian desert as you journey to Alice
Springs. Arrive in Alice Springs after lunch and enjoy
an Off Train Excursion. Your tour guide will assist you
with organising your Off Train Excursion. Choose from
one of two excursions including a tour of Alice Springs
Desert Park or Alice Explorer town tour. Re-board the
train and continue your journey north. Overnight on

MacDonnell Ranges
Day 5 Wednesday: Darwin
Spend the morning discovering Darwin on a city
sights tour. Tour the East Point Military Precinct, see
the Stokes Hill Wharf area and visit the lush Botanical
Gardens and Chinese Temple. There is also time to
explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern
Territory before returning to the hotel (B)
Day 6 Thursday: Litchfield National Park
After breakfast, join the Litchfield Waterfalls tour.
Spend the day exploring Litchfield National Park’s
spectacular waterfalls and cascades and see the
amazing magnetic and cathedral termite mounds.
Return to Darwin by 6pm. (BL)
Day 7 Friday: Darwin
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before being transferred

availability at time of booking and may be withdrawn or
vary at any time up to 30 days before your departure
if any new government surcharges, fees or taxes are
introduced or if any existing surcharges, fees or taxes
are varied.
If we have to change any part of your booking for reasons
beyond our control, for example, an Accommodation
Supplier overbooks accommodation, or if there is an
increase in taxes or Supplier charges, we will notify you.
If any such changes result in your holiday costing more
or otherwise being materially different from that originally
booked, then you may cancel the booking and we will
refund any monies already paid less any charges levied
by Suppliers.

Pensioner Concession Card holders, Australia
Commonwealth Seniors Health Card Holders (CSHC) and
certain Veterans may be entitled to Concession Fares
that are partly or fully funded by the Commonwealth or
State Governments. To qualify for Concession Fares, an
Australian Pensioner Concession Card must be presented
at the time of booking; must be valid at the time of travel
and must be carried at all times during travel. Not all
sectors are included in arrangements for the funding of
concessions. Funding for concessions may be withdrawn
subsequent to the production of this brochure and any
prices quoted may therefore change, without notice.
To receive concessional rail travel fares, Great Southern
Rail is required to confirm your eligibility for the
concession electronically with Centrelink. If you do not
want this to happen you will need to contact Centrelink
to obtain a Pension Concession Letter as proof of your
eligibility for the concession and provide this directly to
Great Southern Rail before the concession can be given.

A minimum non-refundable deposit of $55 per adult or
$110 per booking, whichever is the greater, is required
within 7 days of confirmation of your booking, unless
otherwise advised at the time of booking. Some suppliers
may impose additional deposit requirements in addition
to the minimum deposits stated above.
F ina l Pa yment
Full payment of your holiday cost must be made no later
than 48 days prior to travel or by sale end date, or by
the payment deadline specified in individual package
conditions, whichever is earliest. For bookings made
48 days or less prior to travel, full payment of holiday
cost is required at the time your booking is confirmed.
Please ensure payments are made by the due dates.
If this does not happen, our system will automatically
cancel the booking without notice or liability to you.
Only upon payment of the full cost of your holiday do
you have a final booking with the Supplier of the relevant
good and/or service. In arranging your booking, Sunlover
Holidays is acting as the agent of the Supplier of the
relevant Product and at no time do you have a contract
with Sunlover Holidays.

Bonds or credit card imprints are required by most
Accommodation Suppliers at the time of check-in to
cover incidentals and fees not included in your
holiday cost.
Any amendment to your will incur an amendment fee of
$27 in addition to any fees imposed by the Supplier.

Prior to final payment: Your deposit is forfeited.
After final payment: There will be no refund of your
deposit, in addition to any fees imposed by the Supplier,
which may be up to 100% of monies paid.
After travel: There will be no refund for cancellation
once travel has commenced or for unused services
unless cancelled prior to travel date. Requests for
refunds received more then 6 months after departure
date will not be accepted.

(Hotels, Tour Operators and other Suppliers) who
provide the various goods and/or services (Products). All
bookings are subject to the terms and conditions and
limitations of liability imposed by each Supplier.

provided by Suppliers. Irrespective of any measures
taken by us to ensure the information contained in this
brochure is accurate at the time of printing, Sunlover
Holidays disclaims and will be exempt from liability
in respect of anything misleading, false, incomplete
or inaccurate and any errors, misdescription and all
associated disappointment, loss, expense, damage,
inconvenience, delay, death, shock, illness or injury,
however caused.
Sunlover Holidays does not control the manner in which
Products featured within this brochure are provided.
Sunlover Holidays disclaims and will be exempt from
liability for anything to do with the supply of such
Products. This includes liability (whether as a matter of
contract, tort, statute, restitution, or otherwise) for any
direct, indirect or consequential loss, liability, claim, cost,
expense, proceeding, demand, penalty, disappointment,
death, injury, illness, shock, inconvenience or delay. This
limitation of liability also applies irrespective of the cause,

IMPORTANT BOOKING CONDITIONS
Please read these Important Booking
Conditions carefully as they apply to all
bookings with Sunlover Holidays (‘Sunlover
Holidays’, ‘we’ or ‘us’).
A number of airfares can be used in conjunction
with your holiday package. All airfares are subject to
availability and have special conditions. In most instances
airfares must be paid in full at the time of booking and
some may be non-refundable.
T RA VEL I NS URA NC E
Travel insurance is strongly recommended as it may
protect you if you cancel your holiday due to unforeseen
circumstances.
L UGGA GE
A total of 50kg of checked-in luggage per guest is
allowed on the train (two items not exceeding 25kg each
and 180 linear cm). For Platinum Service a total of 75kg
of checked in luggage per guest is allowed on the train.
An additional fee may apply to excess luggage. Checked
in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey, so
you should bring an overnight bag to the cabin containing
everything needed for the journey. Smart casual attire is
suggested for Platinum Service and Gold Service. Warm
clothes are recommended for evenings on board, as the
air-conditioning can be cool.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation included in holiday packages is
subject to availability. If the accommodation featured
is not available for your chosen travel dates, it may be
substituted.
T RA NS F ERS
Some Tour Suppliers provide complimentary pick up and
return to your holiday accommodation.
T O URS
Some tours require a minimum number of passengers to
operate. If minimum numbers are not achieved tours may
be cancelled at short notice. Additionally, some Suppliers
reserve the right to cancel departures for other reasons,
including bad weather. Some tours and itineraries
may also vary and attractions may be substituted due
to seasonal conditions. Sunlover Holidays will not be
held liable for a service variation, cancellation, delay or
withdrawal, or a Supplier’s failure to notify you. A full
refund applies for the cancelled tour.
