CSpa Aroma and Hair Wellness brand
began to take shape. As a growing local
offering, the focus for this year has been to
develop CSpa in order to provide a sensorial
product range with the finest ingredients
and create affordability within the spa and
salon industry.
The ‘C’ in CSpa stands for Curatio, Latin for
‘healing treatment’. As a local brand based
on aromatherapy purist principles with
modern applications, CSpa infuses the
riches of aroma healing with African notes.
Staying true to our heritage, CSpa
incorporates these hints at various levels.
Just as within the fashion industry, health
and beauty trends generally take on a 30
year cycle. Aloe was the ‘go-to’ ingredient of
the 1980’s and is now enjoying a revival as
the industry ‘millennial ingredient.’ The
profound benefits of this cornerstone
extract have remained at the core of many
products within the health, beauty and
wellness industry.
Native to Sub-Saharan Africa, Aloe Vera has
been uniquely incorporated into CSpa
Aroma Wellness Hydrating Range based on
its rich historical healing properties.
Designed in Africa, for Africa, CSpa makes
use of monkey apples handpicked by locals
in the villages of Mozambique and then
dried to form the massage tool used to
relieve surface tension in CSpa Aroma body
treatments. This has been combined in each
treatment with blended essential oils to
provide a wellness journey which touches
the five senses.
Whilst on a trip to Italy, Brand Manager,
Alison Yammin, travelled to the Southern
farmlands for extensive research on aloe
cultivation, extraction and manufacturing.
The incredible process was demonstrated
with absolute care to the plants and
precision in the manufacturing process. The
use of Aloe Vera can be traced back as far as

June.
In 2014, CSpa Aroma Wellness co-branded
with hair expert, Gary Rom, to provide a 360°
wellness experience in spas and salons and
thus CSpa Hair Wellness was formulated.
Staying true to the sensoriality of CSpa
Aroma Wellness yet with all the riches in hair
care formulated by Gary Rom, the brand has
been adopted by a growing number of
businesses in the industry. Why offer hair
care in the spa and salon environment?
Because it’s the experience clients deserve.
Industries are beginning to cross-pollinate in
their offerings as clients and consumers
expect more from their products and
services. Offering hair care in the spa and
salon environment not only benefits the
client but allows the therapist to maximise

can be performed in cubicle without
distracting the treatment experience. The

stockists of the importance of the CSpa Hair
Wellness concept and just how this offering
is shaping the future of industry

which ensure each client is uniquely catered
to for their individual needs with a concern
of complete body wellness. The flash
seminars were a major success, sure to be

continued with pops of champagne and

PROFESSIONAL BEAUTY CAPE TOWN
The 28th and 29th of June were filled with
the rush and excitement that comes with
each Pro Beauty Expo and this time we were
showcasing our local CSpa Aroma and Hair
Wellness brand along with French-based
brand, THALGO!
The CSpa Aroma and Hair Wellness brand
positioned the stand as a focal point for
visitors, including a sensorial experience
table. This took visitors through the CSpa
journeys in a rich olfactory journey. CSpa
Hair Wellness was on promotion for the
ultimate retail experience which saw all
ranges eagerly embraced to try at home.
THALGO was bursting with those eager to
experience the Marine Intelligent brand and
discover the innovative ranges. Showcasing
the Exceptional Ultimate Time Range,
winner at the Asia Spa Awards for Best Spa
Product: Anti-Ageing Line, the atmosphere
was electric with enquiries and new stockist
sign-ups. The supply of gifting was sold out
on the first day of the expo, showing visitors
insatiable appetite to experience the beauty
of marine offerings.
We look forward to elevating the experience
even further at the Johannesburg show in
August!

Hair Wellness as Platinum sponsors, the Les
Nouvelles Esthetiques Conference is an
annual highlight not to be missed! Taking
place over the 26th and 27th of July, the
THALGO and CSpa teams were in
attendance to gain from the learnings of
respected industry players. In attendance
was France-based THALGO International
Director, Mr Arnaud Diaz, who took to the
stage in presenting Spa Innovations, Trends
and Relevance
Each learning from the conference can be
moulded and shaped into a focus on big
brands or individual spas and salons. Major
points to be taken include those from
Douglas Kruger and the importance of
becoming a celebrity and expert in your
industry. Know your focus and how you
position your business and within that –
become the expert! What are the words you
want to have synonymous with your
spa/salon? As soon as those words are
triggered by clients and prospective clients
– so should the thoughts of your spa/salon
offering. Be the go-to, be the celebrity! To
become the expert in your industry 3
qualities are necessary:
1. Knowledge of your industry
competitors and clients
2. Personality – unlike that of your
competitors. Set yourself apart from
those around you.
3. Publicity – showcase your offering.
Educate people on your brands,
experience and difference!
A key note to remember is that industry
amateurs have jobs. Experts have a cause! A
cause is a foundation you believe in and live
on a daily basis as well as the reason others
take notice of you and share your story and
offering. What is your cause or purpose?
Other key nuggets of information were
those from Hilda Lunderstedt in taking your
leadership abilities to a new level. As a
purpose-driven organisation, an imperative
lesson to learn is that of being people led
instead of by profit. As many industries
which provide services, this applies
extensively to the spa and salon arena. First
be in the ‘people business.’ With that the
profits will follow suit. As an authentic leader,
invest in your therapists or team. Creating
clarity and sharing a vision with every person
builds a clear sense of purpose. Create
values which lead every action and use
statics to measure the results of those
actions. This feeds back into the clarity
perspective and enhances the ability to
make clear future decisions.
A most anticipated affair is the Les Nouvelles
Gala Dinner which saw attendees dressed to
impress and category finalists anxious of the
outcome to follow. The room was filled with
the hum of Mexican musicians and a bright
array of drapery. Editor, Nadine de Freitas
hosted the evening with charm and category
by category announced the leaders in top
Boutique Spa, Unique Spa, Aesthetic /Medi
Spa, Safari Spa and Hotel Spa. It’s an honour
to collaborate with fellow industry leaders in
celebrating the successes of the South
African Spa industry and driving it forward
on the international platform. Congratulations
to all winners and finalists!
DRIVING HOLISTIC SUCCESS
To improve client service and provide
unrivalled support, Marine Spa Distributors
places key emphasis on consistent internal
training and upliftment. Leveraging our
team at every opportunity, we couldn’t not
take advantage of business and success
coach, Ryan Malfara’s stop in South Africa.
Based in Canada, Ryan has established a
leading seminar company in motivational
and success coaching as well as on a
personal basis being a competitive
triathlete. Ryan has won what has been
dubbed ‘the world’s toughest race.’ The
Polar Race is a 650+ km trek over sea ice and
arctic islands on foot. In his attempt, twenty
three days after starting the race Ryan and
his team arrived at the finish line a good
three hours ahead of their competitors. Ryan
has spent much of his time understanding
and researching the mental component
which makes this and his other feats
possible. This is then aligned into the
business context on the basis of stabilising
and driving focus as well as creating winning
mind-sets.
On the 28th of July, Ryan exclusively visited
the Marine Spa Distributors Head Office to
spend an afternoon with the Sales
Executives along with the Camelot
International and Camelot Spa Teams. The
opportunity left every participant enriched
and eager to put their new learnings into
practice!
An importance of building strong brands
and businesses is to realise that efforts not
only need to be placed on developing
teams on the ground but ensuring behind
the scenes are able to support and operate
efficiently and effectively for the smoothest
operations. The Marine Spa Distributors
Accounts Team will be spending a few days
with a Pastel expert in August. Training
extensively on the latest Pastel techniques,
each process will be improved in its speed
and efficiency for the most effective client
service
and
product
management
techniques.
Trainers countrywide met in Johannesburg
in July for a week of intensive training to
ensure consistency in shared information
and upskilling for the most effective
investment into our clients and the training
experience.
To leverage our marketing reach and
effectiveness, Marketing Assistant, Sarah
spent 2 days at the annual Markex Expo. The
enriching experience was filled with key
speakers and players within the marketing
field to drive at brand communication
improvements and strategy implementation.
