GREAT IDEA FOR A FAMILY SERVICE PROJECT!!!
SMILE BOXES FOR CHILDREN IN NICARAGUA
Turn a SHOEBOX into a SMILE!!
•
Fill a shoebox with special items form each category below.
•
Each box should be for a child between the ages of 2 and 12.
•
Wrap the box and lid separately in holiday paper.
•
Indicate whether the gift is for a boy or a girl.
•
Place $5 on top to cover the cost of shipping.
(Please do not include toys that require batteries or English instructions.
Books should be bilingual and/or Spanish only. Please enclose soap in a
plastic bag.)
•
Each box should contain
School Supplies (Ex. two pencils, a pencil sharpener, a pen, and a
paper product or one set of colors such as crayons, markers, or colored
pencils)
Personal Items (toothbrush and toothpaste, soap or shampoo and
washcloth, a comb and hairclips or bands or bows for girls)
Clothing (one item of clothing such as socks, underwear, shorts,
t-shirts, sandals, sunglasses, or ball caps)
Toys (about three toys such as small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals,
yo-yos, bubbles jump ropes, stickers, harmonicas and other small toys no military, camouflage or battery-operated)
Filler (top your box with a handful or hard candy such as lollipops,
mints gum, etc. Please do not send chocolate or other candies that can
melt.)
Because the boxes will be opened in group settings, we would like each box
to have similar contents (see the categories above). However, the possibilities for creativity are endless! Have fun creating special boxes of smiles as
you help us share Christ’s love with the children of Nicaragua.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke
upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
