our chapter and fellow board members.
With this transition, I would like to announce our new board.

There is a lot planned for 2016. We will kick off the year with our
annual party. This year, we are hosting the event at Maggiano’s
Restaurant at Perimeter Mall. We will once again have a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the BMW CCA Foundation for Street
Survival.
Our first Driving School will take place on the weekend of March 46 at Road Atlanta. We have also added a summer Driving School
event taking place at Roebling Road in Savannah on the weekend
of June 17—19.
Stay tuned to our Facebook page and MotorsportsReg for details on
everything that is going on with the Peachtree Chapter this year.
We look forward to having a great rest of the year with you all!
Thanks and Happy Motoring!

Autocross Update —by Shawn Doughtie
With all six events of the 2015 Peachtree Chapter Autocross Series sponsored by Butler Tire
complete, I am pleased to say the season was a resounding success due to the dedicated efforts
of the Autocross Committee and a great group of participants. Over 165 individuals autocrossed, doing nearly 2,100 runs in the process! We gained 80 new members who took us up on
our club membership/autocross offering, and three of our members selected the Season Pass
option. Our new “I” class for BMW EVs was a success, with four regular participants battling it
out in i3s.
For the 2016 season, expect to see revamped FAQs on the chapter website,
an updated classing spreadsheet, increased instruction for novices, and a
return of a points system to determine
class standing and overall season results. We have finalized the schedule,
so mark your calendar with our seven
events at Atlanta Motor Speedway:
4/03, 5/15, 6/05, 6/26, 8/28, 10/23, and 11/13. We have also been invited to a joint event
with the Peachstate Region PCA on 7/17, so put that one on the calendar too. That makes for
eight Peachtree Chapter autocross events for 2016!
As a reminder, MotorsportReg is the
chapter’s official way to schedule & announce events, accept event sign-ups,
and receive event payments, so please
sign up for an account at http://

if you do not already have one.
We look forward to seeing you in 2016!

Social Corner
Hey everybody, as a sit down to write this, I’m excited to share the possibilities we have in
the works for our 2016 calendar. Our Annual Party, Spring HPDE, 1st Autocross are just
around the corner.. In addition to our typical monthly gathering, we have several fun activities we are working on bringing to fruition. April brings the Mitty at Road Atlanta
where we normally have a car club corral. I know I’ll be cleaning the rubber streaks off my
track car and doing my best to make it presentable. Member activity suggestions have
been robust with karting, slot car racing, a winery tour, and summer BBQ all suggested.
We are working to make events happen and the biggest ingredient for making an event
successful is you. Stay tuned for calendar dates and if something piques your interest,
please sign up and come on out!

March HPDE at road Atlanta
You are cordially invited to our first high performance driving school of 2016 POWERED by Markert Motor Works. The
school is scheduled for the weekend of March 4th - 6th at Road Atlanta.Registration just opened!
Pricing will be $399.00 for current BMW CCA members and $450.00 for nonmembers for the weekend (this price includes a
one year membership to the BMW CCA). A T-shirt will be available at an additional cost of $20.
Driving Schools are one of the most exciting, entertaining, and educational events that you can participate in as a car
enthusiast. They provide the student with the opportunity to operate his or her car at speed in a safe, controlled
environment. The school will allow the student to experience, identify, and begin to master the art and science of car
control and vehicle dynamics. In addition you will discover that the event will be a venue for meeting new friends and
having an enormous amount of fun.
So what makes a Peachtree Chapter Driving School different and so special? We believe that there are many reasons, but
allow us to highlight some of the key features.
1. We provide a lot of track time for students. Normally we operate a schedule that provides 4 sessions on track each day
of the school. These sessions typically run about 25 minutes each. That’s more track time than many other schools offer.
2. We provide personalized, in car instruction from one of our highly experienced instructors. Our corps of instructors
have been involved in high performance driving and student instruction for many years and typically have gone through
both driving skills training as well as specific instructor training involving teaching and communication skills. We are
generally regarded as having the best instructor group in the field.
3. We most often can pair you with an instructor that has specific experience in your car’s marque and type of vehicle.
For example if you have a front wheel drive car we can pair you with an instructor with front wheel drive experience. This is
a very important advantage.
4. Our instructors are at the event to help you. They are not preoccupied with racing or other activities during a
Peachtree Chapter event. They are your instructor, that’s it. They have their own track time but that can be used to offer
student rides so that you can gain an in person perspective of “how it’s done”.
5. We provide top notch classroom instruction. We utilize a variety of classroom instructors so it does not become
repetitive for returning students. All of these instructors are very experienced both in driving and in classroom teaching.
Separate, interactive classroom sessions are held for each experience level group and provide a wealth of information that
can be implemented on track with your in car instructor. Plus we hold it in an air conditioned classroom at Road Atlanta!!
The Peachtree Chapter has been offering Driving Schools for over 20 years and the feedback we receive from students and
instructors tells us that we offer the best run, most student focused schools available. The whole reason we do this is to
provide you with the opportunity to LEARN HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING, BE SAFE, and above all HAVE FUN!
For more information and details about the school please visit: http://peachtreebmwcca.motorsportreg.com/.
If you have any questions, please contact Anna-Katherine Johnston at [email protected].
We hope to see you in March!
