2007 SUMMER EDITION
JTCF
OPENS NEW PEDIATRIC TREATMENT ROOM
On November 28, 2006, we opened a new remodeled pediatric treatment
room at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.
We provided all new kid-friendly treatment tables, cabinets, infant scales
and more. We had an artist come in and paint the room ocean blue with
beautiful murals with all different kinds of marine life.
Thanks to your donations, the children receiving treatments in the new room
can now feel more at ease.

Seven year old Kasey Sherwood was selected as our special
volunteer 2006.
For the past three years, Kasey has volunteered at our toy drive.
Kasey, with her mom Gail and her aunt Jane Abrams spend their
weekends in December collecting toys from various locations
across long Island.
Kasey has been a very hard worker and we wanted to show her our
appreciation by presenting her with a special plaque.

BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Back to School Program will help underprivileged children from low-income families.
Children in Kindergarten through High School will be provided with back to school clothes
and school supplies for the 2007-2008 school year. Each child will receive new clothes to
wear, including everything from socks and underwear to shirts, pants, and new shoes. The
supplies will include but not be limited to backpacks, spiral notebooks, pencils and pens and
other classroom necessities.
Back to school time can be difficult for many children whose families cannot afford new
clothes or school supplies. Every child should have a chance to attend school and feel good
about themselves. Studies have shown that many children do not attend the first day of
school because they are too embarrassed that they do not have new supplies and clothing.
New clothes and school supplies are all significant items for a child who would otherwise go
without.
The children will be given a profile page to fill out which will include: their name, age, sex,
favorite color, clothing size, shoe size, what their preferences are as far as dresses or
pants for girls and sportswear or plain clothes for boys. These children will be carefully
selected through agencies and centers. The distribution will take place in late August or
early September before their first day of school.
The children who have benefited from our donations in the past have made us realize there
is a greater need out there and we are hoping to promote higher self-esteem as these children begin their new school year.

HOW YOUR DONATION DOLLARS WORK
JTCF OPENS WISH ROOM
This room is for very special visitors. The children are invited to come into this
room to pick out whatever they like. One child, a seven year old girl by the name
of Stephanie, an underprivileged child was a recent recipient of the Wish Room.
When Stephanie was told she could pick out whatever she wanted, Stephanie
picked out her favorite Barbie’s and Bratz dolls then turned to John and asked
why he was giving her all these toys. John replied, ”It’s your birthday tomorrow.” She then turned to her dad who accompanied her and said, Daddy it’s my
birthday tomorrow? I didn’t think I had birthdays anymore. Unfortunately her
father is unable to afford anything for her, including birthday gifts.
This is one example of the difference your donations continue to make.
