Last Thursday and Friday I a ended the combined Primary Principals Associa on conference. These were a very informa ve two days. We heard from our new Execu ve Director, Ms Dail McGilchrist, who talked with the Principal group about the changes that are set to occur in how schools operate and our roles in leading these changes. I am excited by the possibili es the changes may bring in determining the priori es and areas of focus for each individual school. There will be differences in how schools are classified, staffed and managed. Addi onally, the way in 3rd September

Planet Rhythm Performance We all had a fantas c me at the Planet Rhythm performance last Friday. The students had a great me learning about pitch, beat and rhythm. It was wonderful to see all of the many differing types of drums (and have a play too!) Term 3, Week 4 Assembly Award Recipients

2013 Book Week; Week 6, Term 3
Each year school and public libraries from all over Australia spend a week celebrating
books and Australian authors and illustrators.
Each year the celebration has a theme. This year’s theme is;
Read Across the Universe
Our school will be holding a
Book Character Parade & Open Day
Friday 23rd August 2013 from 10am
All students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite Book Character.
After the parade, we will have a fundraising morning tea for parents and guests while the
children have lunch (Canteen will be holding a sausage sizzle/meal deal). If anyone would
like to donate baked goods for the 5/6 fundraising morning tea, please leave them in the
staffroom on Friday morning. Tea and Coffee will also be available.
At 11:45am, parents will be invited to go into classrooms where we will have a Book
Activity.
At 12:30pm, we will assemble back in the hall. Students will be in peer support groups. We
will host a Book Week Trivia.
After the trivia we will have recharge. Parents are most welcome to stay around and have a
play with the students.
No Change at the Office When paying for ckets, excursions, bookclub, etc please enclose the correct money! For security reasons we do not keep money in the office and are unable to provide change. GEPS & Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser Saturday 28th September 2013 The GEPS P&C will be opera ng the Bunning’s fundraiser BBQ on Saturday 28th September 2013 between 8:30am and 4:30pm. We are in need of helpers on the day to prepare the food, turn the snags and serve the customers. If you could spare a li le me (or a lot) please complete the sec on below and return to the school office by Friday 6th September 2013.
