LETTER FROM THE CEO

elcome to USA Water Polo Men’s National
Championships. Each year this tournament
brings together the top players in the nation
to compete against one another. Each year
there are wonderful feats of athletic skill and
exciting games with hard-fought finishes.
This year, I am hopeful that our Junior Olympics will be characterized by sportsmanship. It is all too easy in the thrill of the
moment to forget why it is we play sports and what they really
mean to us. In those moments, we can turn a true test of character and skill into something less.
Water polo gives us a great deal. It gives us worthy opponents.
It gives us a set of complex and fascinating rules. It gives us an
ideal to attain.
Vince Lombardi, the great coach of the Green Bay Packers said,
“Perfection is not attainable. But if chase perfection, we can
catch excellence.”
Please join with me in making this a Junior Olympics to be remembered not only for its competitive result but even more so
for the respect the players, coaches, officials and spectators
showed to one another.
