Casi trescientos empresarios se acercan a la
Red CIDE con la intención de innovar

La innovación comienza a estar presente también
dentro del empresariado majorero. Las pymes de la
isla han comenzado a acercarse a la innovación y a
la I+D+i con el asesoramiento de la Red Canaria de
Centros de Innovación y Desarrollo Empresarial (Red
CIDE). Durante los dos años de funcionamiento de
los centros CIDE en Fuerteventura, diez empresas
han ejecutado proyectos de innovación y alrededor
de veinte están incluidas en el Sistema Canario de
la Innovación.
La Red, gestionada por el Instituto Tecnológico de
Canarias (ITC), y cofinanciada por la Agencia Canaria
de Investigación, Innovación y Sociedad de la Información (ACIISI), y fondos FEDER de la Unión Europea
en un 85%, cuenta en cada isla con organismos
que atienden personalmente las necesidades de
las empresas. Los dos centros CIDE presentes en
Fuerteventura, gestionados por el Cabildo Insular y
la Confederación de Empresarios de Fuerteventura
(CONFUER), han atendido a casi trescientos empresarios que demandan información sobre cómo hacer
sus negocios más competitivos y acerca de las ayudas y subvenciones existentes para hacer realidad
proyectos de innovación.
7 millones de euros para innovación
En su intervención, Antonio López recordó las
nuevas convocatorias del Gobierno de Canarias
que destinarán a la innovación de las empresas 7
millones de euros financiados por fondos europeos,
la mayor parte dedicada a proyectos de innovación
empresarial (4,3 millones). La incorporación de personal innovador a las pymes (doctores y tecnólogos)
está dotada con 1,8 millones y un millón de euros
se dirigirán a las líneas de apoyo para la creación y
consolidación de clústeres.
El director de Innovación del ITC resaltó que, por
primera vez, estas subvenciones se abonarán de
forma anticipada y sin avales para dotar de agilidad
y liquidez a las empresas.
Asimismo comentó que en breve se inaugurarán
las nuevas instalaciones de la Unidad de Promoción
de Empresas (UPE) de Fuerteventura, que tienen una
capacidad para siete empresas y que están ubicadas
en el Parque Tecnológico de la Isla.
Rediseñar los modelos de negocio
La Red CIDE ofreció la oportunidad a los empresarios
turísticos de asistir, de forma gratuita, a dos talleres
prácticos incluidos en la programación de la jornada,
orientados a renovar y rediseñar los modelos de negocio y a las estrategias para captar a los no-clientes.
Los participantes pudieron identificar oportunidades de rediseño del modelo de negocio para mejorar
su rentabilidad y competitividad, así como generar
habilidades y conocer las diferentes propuestas
existentes en el mercado.
El experto en coaching para directivos, Juan Ferrer,
ofreció tácticas para captar nuevos clientes, instruyendo a los asistentes acerca de cómo realizar un
cuadro estratégico y sobre las acciones para contrastar si es adecuado. Ferrer describió además los
seis pasos para redefinir las fronteras del mercado,
de cara a ayudar a los responsables empresariales
de la Isla a encontrar nuevos nichos de mercado.
Innovación majorera
Entre los casos de éxito seleccionados por la Red
CIDE en toda Canarias se encuentra la quesería majorera Hijos de Vera Montelongo que, fundada en 1996,
distribuye sus productos en Gran Canaria, Lanzarote,
Fuerteventura y diversos puntos de la Península. Gracias
al apoyo de la Red CIDE incorporaron un tecnólogo para
investigar y desarrollar un cuajo natural obtenido del es-
tómago del cabrito, así como su trazabilidad. Asimismo,
se les apoyó en la firma de un convenio de colaboración
con el ICIA (Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias), basado en la investigación y divulgación a través
de catas, ferias, congresos y seminarios.
Para los responsables de esta empresa “innovar es
importante y necesario, ya que el consumidor siempre
desea mejoras y busca novedades”. Aconsejan a otras
empresas a seguir su ejemplo. “Cuando se tiene una
idea, aunque no esté perfectamente definida o diseñada,
es importante contar con ayuda profesional que haga posible su desarrollo. La constancia, tenacidad y confianza
en el producto serán la razón para seguir, aunque no se
vean resultados satisfactorios a corto plazo”, afirman.
La Red CIDE es un instrumento impulsado por el
Gobierno de Canarias que pone al servicio del empresario la información y el asesoramiento necesarios
para comenzar el proceso de innovación. Desde
sus inicios ha enfatizado su carácter demostrativo,
destacando como casos de éxito experiencias de
empresas que han logrado optimizar sus resultados
a través de la innovación.

Fast dreihundert Unternehmer gehen zum
Red CIDE, um ihre Firmen zu erneuern
Inzwischen scheint die Innovation auch bei den
Unternehmern von Fuerteventura angekommen zu
sein. Die kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen der
Insel wenden sich inzwischen der Erneuerung und
der I+D+i unter Beratung des kanarischen Netzes
der Zentren für Innovation und Unternehmensentwicklung (Red CIDE) zu. In diesen zwei Jahren, die
die CIDE-Zentren auf Fuerteventura bestehen, haben
zehn Unternehmen ihre innovativen Projekte durchgeführt und ungefähr zwanzig gehören zum kanarischen
System für Innovation.
Das Netz, das vom technologischen Institut der Kanaren (ITC) verwaltet und von der kanarischen Agentur
für Forschung, Innovation und Gesellschaft (ACIISI)
und zu 85 % von Fonds des FEDER der Europäischen
Union kofinanziert wird, verfügt auf allen Inseln über
Einrichtungen, die die Firmen persönlich betreuen. Die
beiden CIDE-Zentren auf Fuerteventura werden vom
Cabildo der Insel und vom Bund der Unternehmer von
Fuerteventura (CONFUER) verwaltet und haben fast
dreihundert Unternehmer darüber beraten, wie sie ihre
Geschäfte wettbewerbsfähiger gestalten können, und
über die existierenden Hilfen und Subventionen informiert, um innovative Projekte realisieren zu können.
7 Millionen Euro für Innovation
Antonio López erinnerte an die neuen Ausschreibungen der Regierung der Kanaren, die für die Erneuerung
der Unternehmen 7 Millionen Euro aus europäischen
Fonds zur Verfügung stellen. Der größte Teil davon ist
für Projekte für die Erneuerung von Unternehmen (4,3
Millionen) bestimmt. Für die Einstellung von Personal,
das die Innovation in den Klein- und Mittelbetrieben
vorantreiben soll (Doktoren und Techniker), sind
1,8 Millionen bestimmt und eine Million wird für die
Schaffung und Konsolidierung von Clusters verwendet.
Der Direktor für Innovation des ITC betonte, dass
diese Subventionen zum ersten Mal im voraus gezahlt werden, und zwar ohne Bürgschaften, damit
die Unternehmen flüssiger werden und schneller
arbeiten können.
Er erzählte auch, dass demnächst die neuen Einrichtungen der Einheit für die Förderung von Unternehmen (UPE) von Fuerteventura eröffnet werden, die
eine Kapazität für sieben Firmen haben und sich im
Technologie-Park der Insel befinden.
Geschäftsmodelle umgestalten
Das Netz der CIDE bot den Unternehmern der
Tourismusbranche an, an zwei kostenlosen praktischen Kursen teilzunehmen, die zum Tagungsprogramm gehören und darauf ausgerichtet sind, Geschäftsmodelle zu erneuern und Strategien zu entwickeln,
um neue Kunden zu werben.
Die Teilnehmer lernten, durch welche Geschäftsmodelle sie ihre Unternehmen erneuern, höhere
Gewinne erzielen und wettbewerbsfähiger werden, ich
neue Fertigkeiten aneignen und die verschiedenen
Angebote des Marktes kennenlernen können
Der Experte für Coaching von Führungskräften,
Juan Ferrer, bot Taktiken an, um neue Kunden zu
werben, indem er den Teilnehmern beibrachte, wie
man ein strategisches Konzept entwirft und wie man
überprüft, ob dieses geeignet ist. Ferrer beschrieb
außerdem die sechs Schritte, um die Grenzen des
Marktes neu zu definieren, damit die Unternehmer
der Insel neue Marktlücken finden.
Innovation auf Fuerteventura
Zu den Unternehmen, die vom Red CIDE auf den ganzen Kanaren ausgewählt wurden, gehört auch die Käserei
Hijos de Vera Montelongo aus Fuerteventura, die 1996
gegründet wurde und ihre Produkte auf Gran Canaria,
Lanzarote, Fuerteventura und in schiedenen Orten Spaniens verkauft. Dank der Unterstützung des Red CIDE
stellten sie einen Technologen ein, um ein natürliches
Lab, das aus dem Magen des Zickleins gewonnen wird,
sowie dessen Rekonstruktion zu untersuchen und zu
entwickeln. ie wurden ebenfalls bei der Unterzeichnung eines Kooperationsabkommens mit dem ICIA (kanarisches
Institut für landwirtschaftliche Forschung) unterstützt,
das auf Forschung und Verbreitung durch Verkostungen,
Messen, Kongresse und Seminare basiert.
Für die Verantwortlichen dieses Unternehmens
ist „de Erneuerung wichtig und notwendig, da der
Verbraucher immer Verbesserungen und Neuheiten
wünscht”. Sie empfehlen anderen Unternehmen,
diesem Beispiel zu folgen. “Wenn man eine Idee hat,
die noch nicht perfekt definiert oder ausgearbeitet
ist, ist es wichtig, dass man professionelle Unterstützung bekommt, um sie zu entwickeln. Ausdauer,
Entschlossenheit und Vertrauen in das Produkt sind
der Grund, weiter zu machen, auch wenn man keine
kurzfristigen Ergebnisse in Aussicht hat“.
Das Red CIDE ist ein Instrument der Regierung der
Kanaren, durch das die Unternehmer darüber informiert
und beraten werden, wie mit der Innovation beginnen
können. Von Anfang an hat es Erfolgsgeschichten von
Unternehmen hervorgehoben, die es geschafft haben,
dank der Innovation ihre Gewinne zu steigern.
Close to three hundred businesses contact the CIDE network with the intention
of innovating
Innovation also starts to emerge within Majorero
businesses. The Small and Medium Size Businesses of the Island have started looking at innovation
and Research and Development (R&D) thanks to
the advice from the Canarian Network of Innovation
and Business Development Centres (CIDE network).
During the two years of operation of the CIDE centres
of Fuerteventura, ten businesses have achieved innovation projects and around twenty are included in
the Canarian Innovation System.
The Network, managed by the Canarian Technological Institute (ITC) and co-financed by the Canarian
Investigation, Innovation Agency and Information Society (ACIISI) and with 85% funds from the European
Union, has organisations on each island that personally attend necessities of businesses. Both CIDE
centres of Fuerteventura, managed by the island’s
Cabildo and Fuerteventura’s Business Confederation
(CONFUER), have attended three hundred business
people that requested information about how to make
their business more competitive and about help and
grants that exists to help with innovation projects.

During his intervention, Antonio López pointed out
the new directives of the Canarian Government that will
allocate 7 million Euros for business innovation which
are financed by European funds, most of which are dedicated to business innovation projects (4,3 millions). The

The Innovation Director of the ITC added that, for
the first time, those grants are handed out beforehand
and without any requirements for guarantees in order
to provide businesses with agility and available funds.
He also commented that the new premises of
Fuerteventura’s Business Promotion Unit (UPE) will
soon be inaugurated. Those will be able to house seven
businesses from the Technological Park of the Island.
Redesign business models
The CIDE Network has offered business people
involved in Tourism the opportunity to attend, free
of charge, two workshops included in a programme
aimed at renovating and redesigning business models
and strategies in order to attract new markets.
Participants were able to identify opportunities in
redesigning their business model in order to improve
their profitability and competitiveness, as well as how
to generate abilities and find out about the existing
offers on the market.
The coaching expert for management, Juan Ferrer,
offered tactics to captivate new markets, showing
the audience how to create a strategy table and plan
actions to make a difference if it is adequate. Mr. Ferrer described also the six stages to redefine market
borders in order to help business managers on the
island find new niches in the market.
Majorero innovation
Amongst the success cases selected by the CIDE
Network all over the Canaries, we find the Majorero
cheese factory “Hijos de Vera Montelongo” that was
created in 1996 and distributes its products in Gran
Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and in various
points on Mainland Spain. Thanks to the support
of the CIDE Network they incorporated a technician
to research and develop a natural Rennet obtained
from the kid’s stomach, as well as how to trace it.
Furthermore, they got support to sign a collaboration
agreement with the ICIA (Canarian Institute of Agricultural Research), based on the research and disclosure
through tastings, fairs, congresses and seminars.
For the managers of this business “innovating is
important and necessary, because the consumer
always expects improvements and novelties”. We
advise other businesses to follow their example.
“When we have an idea, although it may not be perfectly defined or designed yet, it is important to get
professional help that can make that development
possible. Perseverance, tenacity and confidence in
the product are reasons to continue, although results
may not be visible on the short term”.
The CIDE Network is an instrument created by the
Canarian Government that provides business people
with information and advice that are necessary to
start the innovation process. From the beginning, its
illustrative character was emphasised, showing cases of successful experiences that improved results
thanks to innovation.

Las Salinas del Carmen se integran en la
Asociación de Productores de sal marina de
Canarias
El Museo de la Sal de Las Salinas del Carmen,
ubicado en el municipio de Antigua e integrado en
la Red de Museos del Cabildo de Fuerteventura, formará parte de la Asociación de productores de sal
marina de Canarias. La calidad de la ‘sal de espuma’
que se elabora y comercializa en el Museo pudo ser
apreciada en el marco de las Jornadas de Fomento de
las salinas que, bajo la organización del Gobierno de
Canarias y la Asociación de productores, se celebró
en días pasados en diferentes islas.
La consejera de la Red de Museos del Cabildo de
Fuerteventura, Candelaria Umpiérrez, señaló que “las
características de nuestras salinas, relacionadas con
la producción totalmente natural, recurriendo únicamente a la fuerza del mar y el viento para elevar el
agua a los cocederos a través del saltadero, hacen
de nuestra sal de espuma un producto único en el
mercado, apreciado por su calidad. Ahora estamos
trabajando para mejorar su comercialización y es ahí
donde podemos colaborar en beneficio mutuo con la
Asociación, además de en la promoción comercial y
en la introducción de mejoras en todo el proceso”.
En opinión de la consejera “es muy importante el
esfuerzo que se está haciendo para la actualización
de toda la normativa reguladora de esta producción,
de forma que se reconozca la sal de espuma como
una variedad específica, entendida como un producto
totalmente artesanal y natural”.
El trabajo coordinado entre las salinas de Canarias
permitirá elaborar un plan de posicionamiento en el
mercado, mejorar la imagen comercial y el envasado
del producto, introduciendo materiales reciclados y
reciclables, comenzar a posicionarla como producto
de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Fuerteventura, etc.

the Association of
Marine Salt Producers
of the Canaries
The Salt Museum of Salinas del Carmen, situated in the municipality of Antigua that is part of
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Museum Network, will join
the Association of Marine Salt Producers of the Canaries. The quality of the salt (called “sal de espuma”)
that is elaborated and commercialised in the Museum
was appreciated during the salinas’ open-days called
“Jornadas de Fomento”, that were organised by the
Canarian Government and the Producers’ Association
and occurred in various islands on different days.
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s Museum Network Councillor, Candeliaria Umpiérrez, indicated that “the characteristics of our Salinas, a totally natural production,
created by the oceans’ strength and the wind to bring
the water to the installations, ensure that our salt is
a unique product on the market, appreciated for its
quality. We are now working to improve its commercialisation and this is where we can collaborate with the
Association, for both the commercial promotion and
for advice on improvements in the whole process”.
The councillor believes that “the effort currently
made is very important regarding the update of all the
regulations in this type of production, which means
that “sal de espuma” is now recognised as a specific
variety, a totally natural and handmade product.
The work coordinated between the different Canarian Salinas will allow for a positioning plan on the
market to be created, improvement of the commercial
image and of the products packaging, by introducing
recycled and recyclable materials, which will start
placing it as a product of Fuerteventura’s Biosphere
Reserve, etc. “What is clear is that we are not able
to compete on prices or on profitability with large
salt industries, but the quality of our product and its
ecological origin are unique and this is where there
is a very interesting market segment where we can
move forward”, added the councillor.
Das Salzmuseum Las Salinas del Carmen, das in
der Gemeinde von Antigua liegt und zum Museumsnetz des Cabildo von Fuerteventura gehört, tritt dem
Verein der Meeressalzproduzenten der Kanaren
bei. Die Qualität des Salzes, das in dem Museum
hergestellt und verkauft wird, wurde bei der Tagung
für die Förderung der Salzproduktion gezeigt, die
von der Regierung der Kanaren und dem Verein der
Salzproduzenten organisiert wurde und kürzlich auf
verschiedenen Inseln stattfand.
Die Beauftragte des Museumsnetzes des Cabildo
von Fuerteventura, Candelaria Umpiérrez, betonte:
„die Eigenschaften unserer Salinen in denen ganz
natürlich produziert wird und nur die Kraft des Meeres und des Windes benutzt wird, führen dazu, dass
unser Salz auf dem Markt einzigartig ist und wegen
seiner Qualität geschätzt wird. Zurzeit arbeiten wir
daran, es besser zu vermarkten. Dabei können wir
gut mit dem Verein zusammenarbeiten, was beiden
Seiten nutzt. Dazu kommt die Vermarktung und die
Verbesserung der Produktion ”.
Nach Meinung der Beauftragten für Museen sind
„die Anstrengungen wichtig, die unternommen werden, um alle Vorschriften für die Salzproduktion zu
erneuern, so dass das Schaumsalz als besondere
Salzsorte anerkannt und als völlig natürliches und
handwerklich produziertes Produkt verstanden wird”.
Die koordinierte Arbeit der Salinen der Kanaren
wird es ermöglichen, einen Plan für die Positionierung
auf dem Markt zu entwerfen, das Image und die Verpackung des Produktes zu verbessern, recyceltes und
wieder verwertbares Material zu verwerten, sie als
Produkt des Biosphärenreservates von Fuerteventura
zu verkaufen usw. „Es ist klar, dass wir nicht in der
Lage sind, mit den Preisen und mit der Rentabilität der
großen Salzindustrien zu konkurrieren, aber die Qualität unseres Produktes und ihr ökologischer Ursprung
sind einzigartig, und es gibt einen Teil des Marktes,
der dafür sehr interessant ist und wo wir Erfolg haben
können”, erklärt die Beauftragte für Museen.

Recuerdo a Andrés Valerón
La Casa de los Coroneles acogió la entrega de los
premios Distinguidos del Turismo de Fuerteventura
2010 que en esta edición fueron para el Hotel Faro
de Jandía (Playas de Oro), el Centro Comercial El
Campanario (Playas de Plata), y a título póstumo
para Andrés Valerón, consejero del Cabildo y gerente
del Patronato de Turismo de Fuerteventura fallecido
hace ahora un año.
La alcaldesa de La Oliva, Rosa Fernández, en
referencia al Centro Comercial El Campanario, ase-
guró que éste es un proyecto ejemplarizante por la
promoción de la cultura, gastronomía y arquitectura
majorera, que además ha apostado por la innovación
y diversificación en la economía municipal.
El premio Playas de Plata lo recogió Javier Puga,
consejero delegado del grupo AJA Inversiones, en representación del Centro Comercial El Campanario, una
apuesta importante para darle un valor añadido a la
oferta turística, dijo, para recordar a continuación que el
hermano mayor de El Campanario cumple ahora 21 años.
El galardón Playas de Oro fue para el Hotel Faro de
Jandía, como muestra de una reconversión turística
de calidad, un premio que recogió Mario Romero,
consejero delegado del grupo Mur.
Cuando le tocó el turno a la viuda de Andrés Valerón, la emoción recorrió la Casa de Los Coroneles.
María de los Santos Romero acompañada de sus dos
hijas agradeció la Mención Honorífica otorgada por el
Patronato de Turismo y pidió que se recordase a su
marido con una sonrisa en los labios, “como era él”.

When it got to Andrés Valéron’s widow’s turn, Casa de
Los Coroneles filled with emotions. María de los Santos
Romero was accompanied by her two daughters and
accepted the Honorary Award from the Tourism Board
and asked for her husband to be remembered wearing
a smile on his face, “just as he was”.

von El Campanario nun 21 Jahre alt wird.
Der Preis „goldene Strände“ ging an das Hotel Faro
de Jandía, weil es sich auf beispielhafte Weise auf
Qualitätstourismus umgestellt hat. Dieser Preis wurde
von Mario Romero, einem Verwaltungsratsmitglied
von Grupo Mur, abgeholt.
Als die Witwe von Andrés Valerón drankam, war die
Rührung in der Casa de Los Coroneles groß. María de
los Santos Romero kam zusammen mit ihren beiden Töchtern und bedankte sich für die Ehrung des Patronats
für Tourismus. Sie bat das Publikum, sich mit einem
Lächeln an ihren Mann zu erinnern, weil „er so war”.

2010 Tourism Awards’ Gala which for this Edition were
handed over to Hotel Faro of Jandía (Playas de Oro
Award), El Campanario Commercial Centre (Playas de
Plata Award) and the award was made posthumously
to Andrés Valerón, who was Councillor at the Cabildo
and managed Fuerteventura’s Tourism Board, who
passed away one year ago.
La Oliva’s mayor, Rosa Fernández, commented on El
Campanario’s Commercial Centre by saying that this was
an exemplary project for culture promotion, gastronomy
and Majorero Architecture that has also shown innovation and diversification for the municipal economy.
The Playas de Plata Award was handed over to Javier
Puga, the delegate councillor of the AJA Inversiones group,
who represented El Campanario Commercial Centre who
said that this is a great tool to bring more added value to
the tourism offer and then reminded the audience that El
Campanario’s elder brother is now 21 years old.

Los buceadores colaboran en el seguimiento
de las tortugas marinas
La Consejería de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo
agradecía a los clubes de buceadores, pescadores y
particulares su implicación con la conservación de las
tortugas marinas. Según Natalia Évora, consejera del
área, “se está creando una conciencia social alrededor
de los grandes proyectos como son la Reintroducción
de la Tortuga Boba o la Reserva de la Biosfera, que están favoreciendo que cada vez sean más las personas
que contribuyen a rescatar estos animales”.
Évora explicó que gracias a la participación de
pescadores profesionales y aficionados ha sido posible recuperar numerosos ejemplares de tortugas
que aparecen accidentadas en aguas majoreras,
enmallados o heridos con artes de pesca u otros
elementos que flotan en el mar.
Asimismo, la consejera alabó específicamente la labor
de los clubes de buceo, que en el ejercicio de su actividad
contribuyen a realizar una importante labor divulgativa
y de concienciación, “además de ponerse en contacto
con nosotros cada vez que es avistada alguna de las dos
tortugas que portan dispositivos de rastreo dentro del
programa de seguimiento por satélite Seaturtle.
Estas dos tortugas boba ‘equipadas’ con GPS son
Chusy y Julia. La primera es un espécimen adulto de
70 kilogramos que fue soltado en marzo de 2009 en
Cofete, y la segunda un ejemplar juvenil liberado en
Puerto Lajas este pasado mes de agosto. Chusy tiene
dos zonas predilectas de alimentación, la costa norte
de Fuerteventura, entre Corralejo y el Cotillo, y toda la
bahía de Cofete, mientras que Julia se ha desplazado
directamente en estos dos meses desde Puerto Lajas
hasta la costa de Morro Jable. El Observatorio Ambiental de Granadilla coordina esta experiencia en Canarias
contando con la colaboración de otras entidades.
Una tortuga amiga, sin nombre todavía
En la fotografía cedida por el centro de buceo Jandía Sub de Morro Jable, aparece un ejemplar de tortuga boba (Caretta caretta) que habita en las aguas
del sur de la Isla. La tortuga, que no tiene nombre
todavía, se está convirtiendo en nuevo atractivo en
las inmersiones que se realizan en Morro Jable.

The Cabildo’s Environment Council is thankful
to diving clubs, fishermen and individuals for their
involvement in the preservation of marine turtles.
According to Natalia Évora, councillor of the area,

“a social conscience is being created around large
projects such as the reintroduction of the Loggerhead Turtle or the Biosphere Reserve that are being
supported every time more people contribute to the
rescue of those animals”.

been possible to rescue many turtle specimens that
had accidentally appeared in Majorero waters, either
caught in nets or hurt by fishing equipment or other
floating objects in the sea.
In this instance, the councillor spoke specifically
of the work carried out by diving clubs, who during
their activities have contributed a lot by spreading the
word and awareness, “they also get in touch with us
every time they see one of the two turtles that carry
tracking devices within the satellite tracking programme of Seaturtle”.
Those two Loggerhead Turtles “equipped” with GPS
are Chusy and Julia. The first is an adult specimen of
70 kilos that was released in March 2009 in Cofete
and the second is a young specimen released in
Puerto Lajas last August. Chusy has favourite feeding
areas, the northern coast of Fuerteventura, between
Corralejo and El Cotillo and the whole bay of Cofete,
while Julia has moved completely from Puerto Lajas to
Morro Jable. The Environment Observatory of Granadilla coordinates this experiment in the Canaries and
also relies on the collaboration from other entities.

Turtle (Caretta caretta) that lives in the southern area
of the island. The turtle, that still hasn’t been named, is
becoming the new attraction during dives in Morro Jable.

in front of the Commercial Centre’s roundabout).
It is not necessary to have previous basic music
knowledge in order to become part of this mixed voices group. The repertoire of this group includes various polyphonic styles, both classical and popular.

dependiente de la Escuela Insular de Música
informaba que cuenta con puestos vacantes para
las voces masculinas de la formación.
Todos los interesados, que deben contar con
entre 21 y 50 años de edad, podrán acercarse
directamente a los ensayos de la Coral, que se
celebran todos los martes y los jueves a partir de
las 21:00 horas en la sede de la Escuela Insular de
Música de Puerto del Rosario (antiguo Hotel Fuerteventura, frente a la glorieta del Muelle Comercial).
No serán necesarios conocimientos de solfeo
para entrar a formar de este conjunto de voces
mixtas. El repertorio de la formación cuenta con
diferentes estilos de polifonía, clásica por un lado
y mayormente popular.

den Tauchclubs, den Fischern und den Privatleuten
für ihr Engagement bei der Beobachtung der Meeresschildkröten. Natalia Évora, die Beauftragte für
diesen Bereich, erklärte: „In der Gesellschaft entsteht ein Bewusstsein über wichtige Projekte wie die
Einwilderung der unechte Karettschildkröte oder das
Biosphärenreservat. So kommt es, dass immer mehr
Personen sich an der Rettung dieser Tiere beteiligen”.
Évora erklärte, dass es dank der Beteiligung von
professionellen Fischern und Amateuren möglich war,
zahlreiche Schildkröten zu retten, die hilflos in den
Gewässern von Fuerteventura entdeckt wurden, weil
sie sich in Netzen verfangen hatten oder von im Meer
treibenden Gegenständen verletzt worden waren.
Die Politikerin lobte besonders die Arbeit der Tauchclubs, die während ihrer Amtszeit viel zur Bewusstseinsbildung beigetragen haben: „Außerdem setzen
sie sich immer mit uns in Verbindung, wenn sie eine
der Schildkröten sichten, die Beobachtungsgeräte
tragen, welche zum Satellitenbeobachtungsprogramm Seaturtle gehören.
Diese beiden unechten Karettschildkröten, die mit
einem GPS ausgestattet sind, heißen Chusy und Julia.
Die erste ist erwachsen und wiegt 70 Kilo, und wurde
im März 2009 in Cofete freigelassen, die zweite dagegen ist ein junges Tier, das im August dieses Jahres in
Puerto freigelassen wurde. Chusy hat zwei bevorzugte
Gebiete für die Nahrungssuche, die Nordküste von
Fuerteventura, zwischen Corralejo und El Cotillo, und
die gesamte Bucht von Cofete. Julia dagegen bewegte
sich in diesen zwei Monaten von Puerto Lajas nach
Morro Jable. Das Umweltobservatorium von Granadilla koordiniert diese Erfahrung auf den Kanaren und

looking for male voices
Fuerteventura’s Polyphonic Choir linked with the
Island’s Music School has made it known that there
are vacancies for male voices.

Der mehrstimmige Chor (Coral Polifónica) der
Insel Fuerteventura, der zur Inselschule für Musik
gehört, hat freie Plätze für Männerstimmen.
Alle Interessierten, die zwischen 21 und 50
Jahren alt sein müssen, können direkt zu den
Proben des Chors gehen, die immer dienstags und
donnerstags ab 21:00 Uhr in der Inselschule für
Musik in Puerto del Rosario (im ehemaligen Hotel
Fuerteventura gegenüber der dem Kreisverkehr
des Muelle Comercial) stattfinden.
Man braucht kennte Solfeggio-Kenntnisse, um
diesem gemischten Chor beitreten zu können. Das
Repertoire des Chors besteht aus verschiedenen
Stilen der mehrstimmigen Musik, einerseits klassischer Musik und vor allem Folklore.

“Me siento orgulloso de haber compuesto el
único himno de Puerto del Rosario”
y la coral de Fuerteventura.
Extrañamente, me han comentado que actualmente algunos grupos folclóricos, están cantando
una canción de Puerto, a la que llaman el himno de
Puerto del Rosario.
No quisiera, que nadie se confundiera, con el autentico “Himno de Puerto del Rosario” que yo compuse
en su momento.
También por encargo, hice el himno a la Casa de
Galicia que se inauguro hace tiempo.
Sobre una letra de un poeta, yo compuse la musica,
que se cantó e igualmente esta registrado.
Manchego de origen y formado en el Conservatorio
de Madrid, donde estudió música especializándose
en clarinete, al tiempo que hacía la carrera de composición y donde residió durante 25 años, José Almansa,
por curiosos azares de la vida vino a Fuerteventura
donde lleva viviendo otros 25 años, dedicado a la
música, la enseñanza y la creación de la única coral
de la isla, después de haber formado previamente la
banda insular de música de Fuerteventura.
¿Cómo se produjo el cambio de Madrid a la isla?
Coincidí con un profesor de música del conservatorio de Las Palmas, y me animó a venirme a isla,
explicándome que el Cabildo buscaba una persona
adecuada para formar y dirigir la banda insular de
musica de Fuerteventura.
En aquel momento Fuerteventura era casi desconocida a nivel popular, pero después de meditarlo
durante un mes, pensé que era un buen momento
para hacer un cambio.
Me puse en contacto con las personas que me
indicó y al cabo de siete meses de negociación, me
vine con toda mi familia.
Como músico, ¿qué representaba formar una
banda de música?
Estudié música teniendo en mente llegar a dirigir
una orquesta o una banda de música, por lo tanto
era una valiosa oportunidad, que me hacia mucha
ilusión. Siempre pensé en hacer algo así, porque en
mi tierra La Mancha, se puede decir que nací y crecí
en una banda de música. Incluso mi hermano mayor
era también músico.
Cuando llegué, el aula de música era de reciente
creación, pero ya había profesores que de forma
altruista estaban dando clases, con lo que algunas
estudiantes ya sabían algo de solfeo, y luego otros
se incorporaron con los que partimos de cero. Así
fuimos dando forma a la banda de música.
¿Y la banda sigue existiendo?
Sí claro, lo que ocurre es que ya me he jubilado,
pero sigo con la Coral, porque es un hobby que me
gusta mucho. Este tiempo que la dedico, lo disfruto
y los componentes de la Coral, también quieren que
siga yo y no otro.
¿Cuando se creó esta Coral?
Ahora en octubre hemos cumplido los años. Nacimos como coral en le año 1986, un año después de
llegar a la isla. Una vez que ya tenía formada la banda
y estudiado mi horario de trabajo, solicité al entonces
consejero de cultura, poder usar el aula de música
que teníamos en ese momento los días y las horas
que por mi trabajo estaba libre para dedicarme de
forma altruista a la formación de la coral.
Yo ya tenía la experiencia de haber creado y dirigido una coral en Madrid, y pensé que podía hacerlo
también en Fuerteventura.
Nos despedimos de José Almansa Calzado, deseándole que esta nueva etapa de su vida siga llena de
creatividad y de frutos musicales, ya que fueron muchos los compositores que escribieron sus obras mas
importantes en la etapa tranquila de la jubilación.
¿Cuántos miembros forman la Coral?
No es un número fijo, pues al ser todos amateurs, con
sus trabajos y vidas familiares, suele oscilar, pero aproximadamente nos movemos entre 30 y 35 personas.
¿Dónde se puede escuchar cantar esta Coral?
A veces damos conciertos en el Auditorio. También
solemos cantar en las fiestas populares, y en navidad
en las Iglesias. Vamos donde nos llaman, solemos
colaborar con galas benéficas, incluso en algunos
hoteles hemos actuado con gran éxito y expectación
por parte de los turistas que estaban hospedados.
Es bueno recordar que nosotros no cobramos por
nuestra actuación, como mucho, el transporte hasta
el lugar donde debamos desplazarnos.
¿Qué otros meritos tiene en su currículo insular?
Algo de lo que me siento muy orgulloso es de haber
compuesto el único himno de Puerto del Rosario, que
esta compuesto desde el año 1995 y registrado en
la Sociedad de Autores.
Me lo encargó la comisión organizadora del bicentenario de Puerto del Rosario y se presentó en Televisión Española con la banda insular, el coro infantil

“Ich bin sehr stolz darauf, die einzige Hymne
auf Puerto del Rosario geschrieben zu haben”
Er wurde in La Mancha geboren und wurde am
Konservatorium von Madrid, wo er 25 Jahre lang
lebte, ausgebildet. Dort studierte er Musik und
spezialisierte sich auf die Klarinette. Gleichzeitig
studierte er Komposition. José Almansa kam durch
bemerkenswerte Zufälligkeiten des Leben nach Fuerteventura, wo er auch schon seit 25 Jahren lebt. Dort
widmet er sich, nachdem er vorher die Inselkapelle
von Fuerteventura leitete, der Musik, dem Unterricht
und dem Chor der Insel.
Wie kamen Sie von Madrid auf die Insel?
Ich traf einen Professor des Konservatoriums von
Las Palmas, und dieser ermutigte mich, auf die Insel
zu gehen. Er erklärte mir, dass der Cabildo jemanden
suchte, der in der Lage sein sollte, die Musikkapelle
der Insel Fuerteventura auszubilden und zu leiten.
Damals war Fuerteventura nicht sehr bekannt, aber
nachdem ich einen Monat lang darüber nachgedacht
hatte, erkannte ich, dass es ein guter Zeitpunkt für
einen Wechsel wäre.
Ich setzte mich mit den Personen in Verbindung,
die der Professor mir genannt hatte, und nach einer
sieben Monate langen Verhandlung kam ich mit
meiner ganzen Familie.
Was bedeutete es für Sie als Musiker, eine Musikkapelle zu gründen?
Als ich Musik studierte, dachte ich daran, ein Orchester oder eine Musikkapelle zu leiten, daher war es
eine gute Gelegenheit, auf die ich mich sehr freute. Ich
hatte immer vorgehabt, etwas Derartiges zu machen,
denn man kann sagen, dass ich in meiner Heimat, La
Mancha, in einer Musikkapelle geboren wurde und aufgewachsen bin. Auch mein älterer Bruder war Musiker.
Als ich hier ankam, war die Aula für Musik noch
relativ neu, aber es gab dort schon Professoren, die
auf uneigennützige Weise unterrichteten, so dass
einige Studenten schon ein bisschen über Solfeggio
wussten. Außerdem kamen neue Studenten ohne
Vorkenntnisse an, mit denen wir bei Null anfingen.
So entstand die Musikkapelle.
Gibt es diese Musikkapelle immer noch?
Ja, natürlich. Ich bin allerdings inzwischen in Rente,
aber ich mache mit dem Chor weiter, denn es ist ein
Hobby und macht mir viel Spaß. Ich genieße die Zeit,
die ich dieser Tätigkeit widme, außerdem möchten die
Mitglieder des Chors, dass ich weiter mache.
Wann wurde dieser Chor gegründet?
Jetzt im Oktober haben wir Geburtstag. Unser Chor
wurde 1986 gegründet, ein Jahr nachdem ich auf die
Insel kam. Als ich die Musikkapelle aufgebaut hatte
und meine Arbeitszeit sehr genau kannte, beantragte
ich bei dem damaligen Beauftragten für Kultur, unsere damalige Musik-Aula, wenn sie nicht gebraucht
wurde, nutzen zu können, um auf nicht eigennützige
Weise einen Chor zu gründen.
Ich hatte schon Erfahrung, denn ich hatte in Madrid
einen Chor gegründet und geleitet. Das gleiche wollte
ich auch auf Fuerteventura tun.
Wie viele Mitglieder hat ihr Chor?
Es ist keine feste Zahl, denn die Mitglieder sind
Amateure, die arbeiten und Familien haben. Es sind
ungefähr 30 bis 35 Leute.
Wo kann man diesen Chor singen hören?
Manchmal geben wir Konzerte im Auditorium.
Außerdem singen wir bei Volksfesten, und an Weihnachten in den Kirchen. Wir treten dort auf, wo man
uns einläd. Wir unterstützen auch regelmäßig Benefizgalas, und sind auch in einigen Hotels aufgetreten,
wo wir sehr viel Erfolg bei den Hotelgästen hatten.
Ich möchte auch daran erinnern, dass wir für unsere Auftritte kein Geld nehmen, und uns höchsten
die Fahrtkosten erstatten lassen.
Was haben Sie bei Ihrem Werdegang auf der
Insel sonst noch geleistet?
Ich bin sehr stolz darauf, die einzige Hymne auf
Puerto del Rosario geschrieben zu haben. Ich schrieb
sie 1995 und sie wurde von der spanischen Gesellschaft der Autoren registriert.
Diese Hymne wurde von der Kommission in Auftrag
gegeben, die die Zweihundertjahresfeier von Puerto
del Rosario organisierte. Sie wurde auch von der Musikkapelle der Insel, dem Kinderchor und dem Chor von
Fuerteventura im spanischen Fernsehen präsentiert.
Ich habe gehört, dass zurzeit einige FolkloreGruppen ein Lied singen, dass sie Hymne von Puerto
del Rosario nennen.
Ich möchte, dass niemand dieses Lied mit der authentischen “Hymne von Puerto del Rosario” verwechselt, die ich damals geschrieben habe.
Ich wurde auch beauftragt, die Hymne für die Casa de
Galicia, die vor kurzem eröffnet wurde, zu komponieren.
Der Text ist von einem Dichter und ich schrieb die
Musik. Auch diese Hymne wurde gesungen und die
Urheberrechte wurden ebenfalls registriert.
Wir verabschieden uns von José Almansa Calzado,
und wünschen ihm, dass er weiterhin sehr kreativ und
erfolgreich mit seiner Musik sein wird, denn viele Komponisten haben ihre wichtigsten Werke im Alter geschrieben.
José Almansa Calzado – Director of the polyphonic choir of Fuerteventura
“I feel very proud to have created Puerto del Rosario’s unique hymn”
Originally from La Mancha, José Almansa trained
at Madrid’s Conservatoire, where he studied clarinet,
while he was also starting a career as a composer
and where he lived for 25 years. Fate then brought
him to Fuerteventura where he has now lived for 25
years, dedicating himself to music, teaching it and to
the creation of the only choir of Fuerteventura, after
having trained the island’s music band.
How did you come to move from Madrid to the
island?
I was in touch with a music teacher from Las Palmas’ Conservatoire, and he motivated me to come
to the island, as the Cabildo was looking for an adequate person to train and manage Fuerteventura’s
music band.
At the time Fuerteventura was almost unknown to
the mass, but after thinking it over for one month, I
decided that it was a good time for a change.
Then after seven months of negotiation I moved
here with my family.
As a musician, what did training a music band
represent?
When I studied music I had in mind to lead an orchestra or a band, therefore it was a great opportunity
which gave me much hope. I had always hoped to do
something like this, because where I come from in La
Mancha, I could say that I was born and grew up in a
music band. My elder brother was also a musician.
When I arrived, the music classroom had only just
been created, but some teachers had already been
helping by teaching in their spare time, which means
that some students already had some basic knowledge of music theory and when other students joined
in we started from scratch with them. This is how we
created the music band.
Does the band still exist?
Of course it does, but I have now retired but I carry
on taking care of the choir, it is a hobby and I really
enjoy it. I enjoy every minute I dedicate to the choir
and its members also wish for me to stay.
When was the Choir created?
Our anniversary is in October, the Choir was created
in 1986, a year after I arrived on the island. Once the
band was created, I studied my work timetable and
I asked the culture council if I could use the music
classroom during my free time in order to start dedicating time to the choir.
I already had some experience for having created
and lead a choir in Madrid and I believed I could do
it in Fuerteventura also.
How many members are there in the Choir?
It is not a fixed number, as they are all amateurs,
with their jobs and family lives; it tends to vary between 30 and 35 people.
Where can we watch this Choir sing?
We sometimes organise concerts in the Auditorium.
We also sing during popular fairs and in Churches at
Christmas. We go where people request our presence,
we collaborate with charities for galas and we also
have great success in hotels with tourists staying
there. We don’t charge for our shows, or at the most
only for transport to the site where we sing.
What else have you instigated since you have
been on the island?
I feel very proud to have created Puerto del
Rosario’s unique hymn, I composed it in 1995 and it
is registered in the Society of Authors.
The organisers of Puerto del Rosario’s bicentenary
requested it and it was presented on Spanish television with the island’s music band, the children’s choir
and Fuerteventura’s choir.
Strangely, I have been told that some folkloric
groups sing a Puerto song, which they call Puerto del
Rosario’s hymn.
I wouldn’t like anyone to mistake it with the authentic “Hymn of Puerto del Rosario” which I composed
at the time.
I was also asked to create the hymn of Casa de
Galicia that was inaugurated a while ago.
I also created a tune for a letter from a Poet which
has been sung and is also registered.
We left José Almansa Calzado wishing him to keep
on creating music in this stage of his life since many
composers created their most important pieces during their retirement.

Museos en Betancuria
Museo de Arte Sacro
Emplazado en la calle Alcalde Carmelo Silvera s/n,
en una antigua casa en la que destacan las techumbres de teja al exterior y madera hacia el interior, el
balcón situado sobre la puerta principal con escalera
de acceso desde la calle, y la cantería oscura de las
esquinas de los muros externo.
Esta casa sirvió de residencia a los beneficiados
eclesiásticos, principales autoridades religiosas de
la parroquia.
En sus salas se puede contemplar una importante
colección de pinturas, esculturas, vestidos sacerdotales y piezas de orfebrería, representativas del arte
sacro de la isla. Las obras expuestas han sido seleccionadas entre las colecciones que se encontraban
en las ermitas e iglesias de Fuerteventura.

The rooms contain a large collection of paintings,
sculptures, priestly robes and silverwork that represent the sacred art of the island. The items exhibited
have been selected amongst collections that were
found in chapels and churches of Fuerteventura.
Archaeology Museum
This traditional house is situated in calle Roberto
Roldán at nº 12-14; it was given to Fuerteventura’s
Cabildo by the Martín Fajardo family in 1984.
This museum consists of two exhibition rooms that
contain explanation panels, one destined to indigenous cultural material and the other to the spiritual
world both exhibiting archaeology pieces belonging
to the aboriginal age of the island.

vivienda de tipología tradicional donada al Cabildo de
Fuerteventura por la familia Martín Fajardo en 1984.
El museo cuenta con dos salas de exposición
dotadas de paneles explicativos, una destinada a la
cultura material aborigen y la otra al mundo espiritual, ambas exhiben algunas piezas arqueológicas
pertenecientes a la etapa aborigen de la isla.

Das Museum für religiöse Kunst befindet sich in
einem alten Haus in der Calle Alcalde Carmelo Silvera ohne Nummer, an dem die Dächer, die außen
geziegelt und im Innern mit Holz verkleidet sind, der
Balkon über dem Haupteingang, zu dem es eine
Zugangstreppe gibt, die auf der Straße anfängt, und
die dunklen Steinarbeiten an den Ecken der Außenmauern erwähnt werden.
In diesem Haus lebten die Geistlichen, die die wichtigsten religiösen Autoritäten der Gemeinde waren.
In den Ausstellungssälen können die Besucher
eine bedeutende Sammlung aus Bildern, Skulpturen, Priestergewändern und Goldschmiedearbeiten
bewundern, welche bezeichnend für die religiöse
Kunst der Insel sind. Die Ausstellungsstücke stammen aus den Sammlungen der Wallfahrtskapellen
und Kirchen der Insel Fuerteventura.

old house stands out for its tiled roof and wooden
interior, the balcony situated over the main door with
access stairs to the street and dark areas under the

Haus, das dem Cabildo von Fuerteventura 1984 von

In dem Museum gibt es zwei Ausstellungssäle, die
mit der Information dienenden Tafeln ausgestattet
sind. Ein Saal ist der Kultur der Ureinwohner der
Insel gewidmet, der andere der spirituellen Welt. In
beiden werden archäologische Funde aus der Zeit
der Ureinwohner der Insel ausgestellt.

Canarias, una ventana volcánica en el Atlántico
Actualmente, Canarias es la única región volcánicamente activa de todo el territorio nacional. En este
contexto, el programa educativo “Canarias: una ventana volcánica en el Atlántico” nació como solución
ante la necesidad de informar y formar a la población
canaria sobre este fenómeno y la gestión del riesgo
volcánico en el territorio de las Islas Canarias. Este
plan se integra dentro de los objetivos a cumplimentar
por el Plan Especial de Protección Civil y Atención de
Emergencias por Riesgo Volcánico en la comunidad
autónoma canaria.
DE GIRA
A lo largo de los últimos meses, y con la intención
de llegar al mayor número posible de personas, el
programa desarrollado por la Fundación Canaria
ITER, ha completado una gira que por toda Canarias.
Esta iniciativa cuenta con el apoyo y la colaboración
del Instituto Español de Oceanografía (IEO), dependiente del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, de la
Academia Canaria de Seguridad, dependiente del
Gobierno de Canarias, de la Federación Canaria
de Municipios (Fecam), y de la Fundación Telesforo
Bravo-Juan Coello.
“Canarias: una ventana volcánica en el Atlántico”
continuará su viaje, por todos los municipios del
archipiélago, hasta finales de este año 2010. El
objetivo fundamental de esta gira es contribuir a la
reducción del riesgo volcánico en el archipiélago, ya
que una población más informada y formada sobre
el fenómeno volcánico y la gestión de los riesgos es
una comunidad menos vulnerable al riesgo volcánico.
SESIONES INFORMATIVAS
En cada uno de los municipios seleccionados, este
programa de difusión y divulgación sobre el fenómeno
Canarias apuesta por informar y educar a la
población sobre los peligros volcánicos para reducir la
incidencia de los riesgos naturales en el archipiélago.

50.000 € para el Instituto Vulcanológico
de Canarias
Los Presupuestos Generales del Estado de 2011
incluyen una subvención de 50.000 euros para el recién creado Instituto Vulcanológico de Canarias. Esta
entidad, que nació para vigilar y reducir los riesgos de
la actividad volcánica en la zona, fue promovida por el
presidente del Cabildo de Tenerife, Ricardo Melchior.
Pese a que la partida económica es considerada insuficiente por parte de la corporación insular
tinerfeña, lo cierto es que esta inversión ratifica el
compromiso del Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y
Tecnología con el proyecto. Ahora falta comprobar si,
tal como se anunció en su día, instituciones como el
Centro Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)
y el Instituto Geográfico Nacional se suman a la
iniciativa. El centro, que fue creado por parte de la
corporación insular a través del Instituto Tecnológico
y de Energías Renovables (ITER), cuenta con el compromiso de ambas entidades de adherirse y compartir
los datos, los estudios y los análisis a través del Instituto Vulcanológico para responder a una demanda
que surgió de varios cabildos del archipiélago

Die Kanaren, ein Vulkanfenster im Atlantik
Heute sind die Kanaren in ganz Spanien das einzige Gebiet mit aktiven Vulkanen. In diesem Kontext
entstand das Bildungsprogramm „die Kanaren
ein Vulkanfenster im Atlantik”, um die kanarische
Bevölkerung über dieses Phänomen im Territorium
der Inseln und darüber, wie man damit umgeht, zu
informieren. Dieses Programm gehört zu den Zielen,
die von dem besonderen Plan für Zivilschutz und
Hilfe in durch Vulkane verursachten Notfällen in der
autonomen Region der Kanaren verfolgt werden.
TOUR
In den vergangen Monaten machte das Programm,
das in den vergangen Monaten von der Stiftung
Fundación Canaria ITER entwickelt wurde, ein Tour
durch die ganzen Kanaren. Damit wurde angestrebt,
so viele Menschen wie möglich zu erreichen. Diese
Initiative wird vom spanischen Institut für Meereskunde (IEO), welches vom Ministerium für Wissenschaft
und Innovation abhängig ist, von der kanarischen
Akademie für Sicherheit, die von der Regierung der
Kanaren abhängig ist, der Föderation der Gemeinden
(Fecam) und der Stiftung Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello
unterstützt.
“Die Kanaren: ein Vulkanfenster im Atlantik” wird
bis zum Ende 2010 durch alle Gemeinden des Archipels reisen. Mit dieser Tour wird vor allem bezweckt,
das vulkanische Risiko in dem Archipel zu reduzieren,
da die Bevölkerung dieser Gefahr gegenüber weniger
hilflos ist, wenn sie über das Phänomen der Vulkane
und darüber, wie man mit den damit verbunden Gefahren umgeht, informiert ist.
INFORMATIONSVERANSTALTUNGEN
Im Rahmen des Programms für die Verbreitung
von Information über das Phänomen der Vulkane
und darüber, wie man mit den damit verbundenen
Risiken umgeht, werden in jeder der ausgewählten
Gemeinden aufklärende Veranstaltungen organisieren, in denen didaktische Mittel mit Filmvorführungen
kombiniert werden. Es werden Filme wie „Die Gefahr,
die von den Vulkanen ausgeht, verstehen” und „Die

Zum allgemeinen Haushalt des Staates 2011

um die Gefahren, die von den aktiven Vulkanen der
Gegend ausgeht, zu beobachten und zu reduzieren,

Ricardo Melchior, gefördert.
Obwohl dieser Haushaltsposten von der Inselregierung auf Teneriffa als nicht ausreichend betrachtet wird, ist es sicher, dass diese Investition die
Verpflichtung des Ministeriums für Wissenschaft,
Innovation und Technologie gegenüber dem Projekt
bestätigen wird. Jetzt muss noch überprüft werden
ob Institutionen wie das Zentrum für wissenschaftliche Forschung (CSIC) und das spanische Institut
für Geographie sich an dieser Initiative beteiligen
werden, wie es seinerzeit angekündigt worden war.
Das Zentrum, das von der Inselregierung mit Hilfe des
Instituts für Technologie und erneuerbare Energien
(ITER) geschaffen wurde, verfügt über die Verpflichtung beider Einrichtungen, dass Daten, Berichte und
Untersuchungen des Instituts für Vulkanforschung
gemeinsam genutzt werden. Dieses Anliegen war in
verschiedenen Cabildos des Archipels entstanden
The Canaries, a volcanic window in the
Atlantic
Currently, the Canaries are the only active volcanic
area of the National territory. Within this context, the
educative programme called “The Canaries: a volcanic window in the Atlantic” was created as a solution
to the necessity of informing and training the Canarian
population about this phenomenon and the management of the volcanic risk on the Canary Islands’
territory. This plan is included in the objectives set by
the Special Civil Protection and Emergency Support
Plan for Volcanic risks in the Canarian autonomous
community.
THE TOUR
Over the past few months, and in order to reach as
many people as possible, the programme developed
by the ITER Canarian Foundation has gone on tour
around the Canaries. This initiative relies on the
support and the collaboration of the Oceanographic
Spanish Institute (IEO) that relies on the Science and
Innovation Ministry, the Safety Canarian Academy, the
Canarian Government, the Canarian Federation of
Municipalities (Fecam) and the Telesforo Bravo-Juan
Coello Foundation.
“The Canaries: a volcanic window in the Atlantic”
will continue on its journey around all the municipalities of the archipelago until the end of 2010. The
fundamental objective of this tour is to contribute to
the reduction of volcanic risk in the archipelago because a population that is informed and trained about
volcanic phenomenon and the risk management is a
community that is less vulnerable to volcanic risks.
INFORMATION SESSIONS
In each selected municipality, this programme
of diffusion and awareness about this volcanic
phenomenon and the risk management organises
educational sessions that combine didactic and audiovisual resources. Therefore, films are shown, such
as “Understanding Volcanic Risks” and “Reducing
Volcanic Risk”, which are edited by the International
Association of Volcanology and Chemistry of the
Earth’s Interior and the Organisation of the United
Nations for the development of Education, Science
and Culture; that combine, amongst other resources,
conferences or images of the last eruption that occurred in the Canaries.
50.000 € for the Vulcanology Institute of
the Canaries
The 2011 General State Budgets include a 50.000
Euros grant for the recently created Vulcanology
Institute of the Canaries. This entity, that was crated
to observe and reduce risks of volcanic activity in
the area, was initiated by the President of Tenerife’s
Cabildo, Mr. Ricardo Melchior.
Despite the fact that the economics are judged as
insufficient by the island corporation from Tenerife,
this investment ratifies the agreement of the Science,
Innovation and Technology Ministry with the project.
They must now check if, as it was announced at the
time, institutions like the Superior Scientific Investigation Centre (CSIC) and the National Geographic
Institute will join the initiative. The centre that was
created by the island corporation with the help of the
Technological and Renewable Energy Institute (ITER),
relies on the agreement of both entities to support
each other and share data, studies and analysis
through the Vulcanology Institute in order to respond
to the demands of the archipelago’s Cabildos.

“La Asociación nació para que los ejemplares
de gran pureza no se perdiesen”
Háblenos de los orígenes de este perro.
El nombre tradicional de siempre es bardino, aunque cuando se registró se hizo como perro majorero.
Es un perro pre-colonial. Supuestamente llegó aquí
desde el norte de África.
Existen grabados, y escritos que documentan este
origen y textos de los colonizadores que al llegar
aquí describen este perro. Hay muchas leyes en los
famosos Tratados del Cabildo que se sacaron de los
escribanos Juan de Betancur y Gadifer de la Salle.
En un número anterior hablamos de esta raza de
perros y quisiéramos documentar en esta entrevista desde cuándo y cómo nace la preocupación de
esta asociación por la conservación del bardino.
La primera actuación que se toma para su preservación fue en el año 70 con el nombre S.P.B.,
(Sociedad protectora de bardinos). Comenzaron un
programa de repoblación de esta especie, dado los
pocos ejemplares que quedaban en la isla, pero de
muy alta calidad genética todavía. Con esta misma
idea nace esta nueva asociación para que los buenísimos ejemplares, de gran pureza que quedaban
en la isla no se perdiesen.
Fuerteventura llevaba un poco de retraso en cuanto a algo tan básico como legalizar la raza, fijar un
patrón racial establecido y crear un patrón genético,
que es lo que hemos hecho ahora. Algo que tiene
cualquier raza de perros, porque con solo 30 años
es suficiente para crear una nueva raza y nosotros
llevamos siglos y aún no estaba totalmente representada y registrada legalmente.
Es un perro noble y dócil, ¿no es así?
Es un perro que le gusta a mucha gente, es de
hecho un excelente perro guardián, que es la cualidad que más le ha hecho cotizarse fuera de la isla y
comenzaron a salir perros de la isla.
Cuando vinieron de la fundación O.N.C.E. (Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles), Ricardo Vicente
destacó el gran equilibrio mental que tiene este perro,
que puede pasar de estar en tensión defendiendo
su territorio a relajarse en segundos. También fue
notoria su capacidad de aprendizaje.
¿Han sido aceptados por la O.N.C.E?
Primero vieron si tenían actitudes para poder ser
adiestrados, e hicieron una pequeña selección. Eran
perros que apenas habían estado con personas,
acostumbrados a pastorear o a estar de guardianes
teniendo un amplio terreno para moverse, y demostraron su capacidad de volverse sociables y adaptarse
a una ciudad rápidamente en cuanto los pasearon
por Puerto del Rosario.
Les hicieron pasar por los pasos de peatones, haciendo ruido para inquietarlos al tiempo que cruzaban
y también haciéndoles creer que su dueño iba a ser
agredido. Se quedaron asombrados de la serenidad,
equilibrio y facilidad de adaptación que tenían y a la hora
de defender a su dueño era impresionante verlos actuar.
Posteriormente se llevaron a Madrid unos cachorros, donde fueron adiestrados y posteriormente
entregados a unas familias sociabilizadoras, en las
que un miembro es un adiestrador de la O.N.C.E.
Deben continuar como un año en esas familias y
posteriormente, los vuelve a tomar un adiestrador
que tras, un entrenamiento adecuado, ya los entrega
a las personas ciegas para ser sus guías.
¿Entonces van a ser adiestrados como perros de
compañía para la O.N:C.E.?
No, ya se realizaron las pruebas, pero no han sido
satisfactorias.
Parece que ya al principio tuvieron problemas en
la primera fase de adiestramiento, pues cada vez
que les cambiaban de adiestrador, era complicado.
Es un perro muy fiel, el tiene un dueño y no es fácil
cambiarlo, acepta a su familia, pero todos los demás
a menos que este su familia delante no los acepta.
Sus características son demasiado protectoras y
guardianas de sus dueños.
Otro de los problemas que tuvieron es que, de ser
un perro rústico, poco acostumbrado a los mimos y
las caricias, pasó a ser cuidado y atendido en una
familia donde además había niños.
Nos contaron que cuando pasaba por delante de
un colegio y veía adultos de la mano de un niño, “se
los quería comer”… Parece ser que los sentía como
una amenaza para los niños. Tuvo un exceso de celo
y sentido de protección.
Pensamos que al ser un animal no acostumbrado a
las recompensas por su trabajo, ya que a el le gusta
hacerlo y no necesita de mimos habitualmente, este
cambio social lo volvió excesivamente fiel.
También parece que los ruidos de la capital, la cercanía constante de los transportes, los altos edificios,
etc., los alteraban.
Es posible que fuera necesario que se criaran en
la ciudad y en un par de generaciones podrían
servir como perros guía...
Probablemente, hubo un problema dado que el convenio se firmo entre dos asociaciones de crías de bardinos
y la otra asociación no cumplió la entrega. Esto retraso
la entrega de los nuestros y los cachorros se fueron de
aquí siendo ya de unos siete meses. Más grandes de lo
aconsejable para comenzar el entrenamiento.
Además lo mismo que los pastores hacían parir
a sus perros en el corral de la cabras para que se
acostumbrasen desde siempre al olor y los ruidos del
ganado, si durante una o dos generaciones, nacieran en ciudad, acostumbrados a las personas y los
ruidos, seguramente los problemas que presentaron
estos cachorros serías solventados.
Al fin y al cabo son perros que nacen en perreras
medio salvajes en su crecimiento, pues están criados
para un trabajo de campo. En otro ambiente, convertidos en perros de familia podrían dar lo mejor de si
mismos al acostumbrarse a un nuevo entorno.
Es una pena que teniendo todos los valores que
nos cuenta, no se haya podido organizar un programa de adaptación para ser en un futuro perros
guía. ¿Cómo llegaron a conectar con la O.N.C.E.?
Nos enteramos de que iban a comprar una camada
entera a un criador, cuando nosotros estamos criando
y regalando los perros con el fin de repoblar la isla
y que no se pierda la raza, así que se los ofrecimos
para las pruebas.
Ahora estamos haciendo un plan serio de repoblación y luchando contra el mercado negro de estos
animales.
¿Existe un mercado negro?, ¿en qué consiste?
Se compraban los perros aquí para cruzarlos, dado
que hubo un auge del perro presa- canario, y este
perro es la mezcla de otras dos razas y el producto
de ellas cruzado con el bardino. Esto provocó la casi
desaparición de este perro en nuestra isla.
Se exportaron perros y sobre todo se llevaron todos
los perros de tonalidad clara de pelo, que son ejemplares muy raros.
Por otro lado los ganaderos han buscado el doble
anillado, que se distingue por tener una sexta uña en
sus patas y que es una característica producto de la
endogamia y que se da al principio de cualquier raza,
porque para reforzar las características genéticas se usa
un poco de endogamia en todas las razas de perros.
Pero hay que buscar el límite y dejar un 75 %
limpio y un 25 % de endogamia, para evitar las
deformidades.
Otra de las causas que ha dañado al perro bardino
ha sido meterlo en las exposiciones de belleza, y así
han estropeado la raza.
¿Por qué dañan las exhibiciones de belleza la raza?
El valor de un perro de trabajo es la actitud en el
trabajo, pero si durante 15 años se lleva a una exposición para obtener un título “de actitud de cría”, que
es como se llama el premio obtenido, esto genera
que el que no sabe de perros quiere un hijo de ese
campeón y aún sabiendo de perros, pero no de esta
raza, valorara el primer puesto que ha obtenido y no
verá su capacidad como guardián y trabajador, que
en ese premio no quede patente.
¿Y cómo se mantiene la Asociación si regalan los
perros?
Los regalamos sobre todo para uso del medio rural
y llevamos un control del trato del animal y hasta ahora hemos tenido la colaboración de una empresa de
La Lajita el Oasis Park, que nos ha facilitado pienso
y también las vallas fuertes acordes con la fuerza de
estos perros. También nos gustaría contar con colaboradores que tengan espacio y condiciones para
criar, donde puedan observar el trabajo de campo de
los perros y cualquier ayuda como socio o alimentos.
Y de las instituciones oficiales ¿no tienen ayuda?
No, salvo un billete para ir a Madrid, que nos financió el Cabildo, todo sale de nosotros.

“The Association was created to ensure that
all specimens of pure breed that remained
on the island would not be lost”
Tell us about the origins of this dog.
The traditional name is “bardino”, although it was
registered as “Perro Majorero” (Majorero dog). It is
a pre-colonial dog. It is meant to have come from
North Africa.
There are recordings and written documents that
confirm this origin and texts from settlers who described this dog when they arrived here. There are many
laws in the famous Cabildo Treaties (Tratados del
Cabildo) that were taken from the official writings of
Jean de Bethencourt and Gadifer de la Salle.
We have already spoken of this breed in an earlier
issue and through this interview we would like to
explain how long this association has taken care
of the preservation of the Bardino for and why.
The first initiative taken for its preservation dates
back to 1970 with the name “S.P.B.” (Society for the
Protection of Bardinos). They started with a programme of repopulation of this breed because of the very
small amount of specimens left on the island, but
that still had very high genetic qualities. Along the
same idea, a new association was created so that the
excellent and pure breed specimens that remained
on the island would not be lost.
Fuerteventura was a bit behind as far as something
as basic as legally registering the breed was concerned, or fixing racial standards and creating genetic
standards, which is what we have done now. This is
something that any dog breed has, because 30 years
are enough to create a new breed and we have had
it for centuries but it wasn’t totally represented or
legally registered.
It is a dog that is both noble and docile, isn’t that so?
It is a dog that many people are fond of, it is an
excellent guard dog which is the main reason why
it was sought from outside the island and that dogs
started leaving the island.
When the O.N.C.E. (National Organisation for the
Blind in Spain) foundation came, Ricardo Vicente
pointed out the great mental balance of this dog that
can go from being stressed defending its territory to
relaxing within a few seconds. Its abilities to learn
were also noticed.
Have they been accepted by the O.N.C.E.?
They first checked if the dogs had abilities to be
trained and they made a small selection. Those were
dogs that had hardly been around people at all, more
used to guarding livestock in the fields, guarding a
property with a lot of grounds to run around in and
they showed abilities to become sociable and adapt
to life in a city quite quickly when they were walked
in Puerto del Rosario.
They made them cross on zebra crossings, making
noise in order to disturb them while they were going
across and also making them think that their master
was about to get attacked. They were surprised by the
dog’s serenity, balance and ease at adapting and it
was astonishing to watch the dog defend its master.
Later a few pups were taken to Madrid, they were
trained and later left with families to socialise them,
where one of the family members was an O.N.C.E.
trainer. They had to stay one year within those families
and later they were trained again with the adequate
training before they could be handed over to a blind
person as a guide dog.
So are they going to be trained as guide dogs by
the O.N.C.E.?
No, tests were carried out but they were not conclusive.
It seems that at the beginning they had problems
with the first phase of training, then every time they
changed trainer it was complicated. This is a very loyal
dog, it has one master and it is not easy to change, it
accepts the family but it doesn’t accept anyone else.
Its characteristics are too protective over its owners.
Another problem they encountered is that it is a
rustic dog, not used to cuddles or being stroked which
was going to be left in a family with children.
We were told that when the dog walked by a school
and saw an adult take the hand of a child it wanted
to attack. It seems that it felt it was a threat for the
child. It was excessively jealous and protective.
We think that because it is a dog that is not used
to being rewarded for its work, as it likes doing it
and normally doesn’t need to be stroked, this social
change made him excessively loyal. It seems also that
the noise from the capital, the closeness of vehicles,
high buildings, etc. were disturbing the dog.
It might be necessary to breed a few generations
in the city and maybe they could be used as guide
dogs then…
Probably, the problem is that the agreement was
signed between two Bardino breeding associations
and the other association did not manage to deliver.
This caused a delay for us also and the pups left when
they were already seven months old, which is older
than was is recommended in order to start training.
Furthermore as shepherds used to make their dogs
give birth in the goats’ corral so that they could get
used to the smells and noises of livestock, if during
one or two generations they were born in a town, used
to people and their noises, those problems would
certainly be solved.
All in all those dogs are born almost wild as they
are brought up to work in the fields. In another environment, converted into family dogs, they could give
their best and get used to their new environment.
It is a shame that despite all the qualities that
you have told us about, a programme of adaptation could not be created so that they could be
guide dogs in the future. How did you get associated with the O.N.C.E.?
We found out that they were about to buy a complete litter from a breeder while we were breeding them
and giving them free of charge in order to repopulate
the island so that the breed would not get lost, so we
handed them over free of charge so that they could
start their tests.
We are now making a serious repopulation plan
and fighting against those animals being sold on the
black market.
Is there a black market? What does it consist of?
Dogs were bought in order to cross-breed, because
there was high demand for the “presa-canario” dog,
and this dog is a cross between another two breeds,
which is then crossed with the bardino. This almost
caused the extinction of this breed on the island.
Dogs were exported and especially light coloured
dogs which are the rarest specimens.
On the other hand breeders looked for the sixth
claw on the leg which is the characteristic caused by
endogamy which is carried out at the beginning of any
race, in order to reinforce the genetic characteristics
of any dog breed.
But there has to be a limit and 75% has to be clean
and 25% endogamy in order to avoid deformities.
Another cause of damages done to the bardino breed
was to enter them in beauty contests.
Why have beauty contests damaged the breed?
The qualities of a working dog lie in its working behaviour, but if during 15 years it is taken to exhibitions
in order to obtain the “breeder’s prize”, this means
that people who don’t know about dogs will want a
pup from that dog, or even if they know about dogs
but not of this breed in particular, they will value the
first prize it obtained but they won’t see its qualities
as a guard dog and working dog, which does not count
in those competitions.
And how can the Association survive if you give
the dogs free of charge?
We mainly give them so that they can be used in
the fields and we can keep an eye on the animal and
so far we have benefited from the collaboration of a
business in La Lajita called Oasis Park that gives us
food and strong fencing, given the strength of those
dogs. We also would like to collaborate with people
who have space and suitable conditions to breed the
dogs, where they could witness working conditions
in the fields of other dogs and any other kind of help
with members or food.
Don’t you get support from official institutions?
No, apart from a ticket to go to Madrid that was
financed by the Cabildo, we finance it all ourselves.

Erzählen Sie uns bitte etwas über den Ursprung
dieser Hunde.
Der herkömmliche Name dieses Tieres ist immer
noch Bardino, aber er wurde als Hund aus Fuerteventura registriert.
Dieser Hund stammt aus der Zeit vor der Kolonialisierung. Man geht davon aus, dass er aus Afrika
hierher gekommen ist.
Es gibt Gravuren und schriftliche Dokumente, welche diesen Ursprung bezeugen. Dieser Hund kommt
auch Texten von Kolonisatoren vor, die ihn bei ihrer
Ankunft hier vorgefunden haben. In den berühmten
Abhandlungen des Cabildo gibt es viele Gesetze, welche den Schriften von Juan de Betancur und Gadifer
de la Salle entnommen wurden.
Wir haben in einer früheren Ausgabe über diese
Hunderasse berichtet, und wir möchten in diesem Interview dokumentieren, wann und wie das Anliegen
dieses Vereins für den Erhalt des Bardino entstand.
Die erste Initiative um diesen Hund zu retten fand
1970 mit dem Namen S.P.B. (Gesellschaft für den
Schutz der Bardinos) statt. Es begann ein Programm
für den Erhalt dieser Rasse, da die wenigen Exemplare,
die es davon auf der Insel gab, immer noch sehr wertvolle Gene hatten. Mit dieser Idee entstand dieser neue
Verein, um das Aussterben dieser erstklassigen Hunde,
die es immer noch auf der Insel gab, zu verhindern.
Fuerteventura war in etwas so einfachem wie der
Legalisierung einer Rasse immer noch sehr rückschrittlich. Inzwischen haben wir ein Muster für die
Rasse geschaffen und einen Genotyp festgelegt. Für
jede Hunderasse sind 30 Jahre ausreichend, um eine
neue Rasse zu schaffen, und obwohl es unsere Rasse
seit Jahrhunderten gibt, war sie immer noch nicht
richtig vertreten und rechtlich registriert.
Stimmt es, dass diese Hunde gleichzeitig edel
und folgsam sind?
Es ist ein Hund, den die Leute sehr mögen. Er ist in
der Tat ein hervorragender Wachhund. Außerhalb der
Insel wurde die Qualität viel bezahlt und es wurden
Hunde von der Insel verschickt.
Als die O.N.C.E. (Nationale Organisation der spanischen Blinden) sich für diese Hunde interessierte, hob
Ricardo Vicente die geistige Ausgeglichenheit dieses
Hundes hervor, der angespannt sein kann, wenn er sein
Revier verteidigt, und wenige Sekunden danach total
entspannt ist. Auch seine Lernfähigkeit war offenkundig.
Wurden diese Hunde von der O.N.C.E akzeptiert?
Zuerst wurde überprüft, ob diese Hunde dressiert wer-
den konnten, dann wurden einige Hunde ausgewählt. Es
waren Hunde, die kaum mit Menschen zusammengelebt hatten und daran gewöhnt waren, Tiere zu hüten oder
auf einem großen Gelände, wo sie sich frei bewegen
konnten, als Wachhunde eingesetzt zu werden. Als sie
durch Puerto del Rosario geführt wurden, zeigten sie,
dass sie in der Lage sind, gesellig zu werden, und sich
schnell an eine Stadt gewöhnen können.
Sie wurden durch eine laute Fußgängerzone geführt. Außerdem ließ man sie glauben, dass ihr Herr
angegriffen wurde. Man war von ihrer Ausgeglichenheit und ihrer Anpassungsfähigkeit erstaunt, und
als sie ihr Herrchen verteidigen mussten, waren sie
beeindruckend.
Danach wurden einige Welpen nach Madrid gebracht, wo sie dressiert wurden und dann zu Familien
kamen, in denen sie sozialisiert werden sollten. In
diesen Familien war ein Familienmitglied Dresseur
der O.N.C.E. Sie müssen ungefähr ein Jahr lang bei
diesen Familien bleiben, dann bekommen sie wieder einen Dresseur. Nach der richtigen Ausbildung
werden sie schließlich als Blindenhunde eingesetzt.
Werden Bardinos als Begleithunde für die
O.N.C.E. ausgebildet?
Nein, es wurden schon Versuche gemacht, aber die
Ergebnisse waren nicht befriedigend.
Anscheinend war die erste Phase der Ausbildung
kompliziert. Jedes Mal, wenn der Dresseur wechselte,
war es ein Problem. Es ist ein sehr treuer Hund, der
einem Herrn folgt, und dieser kann nicht so einfach
ausgewechselt werden. Er akzeptiert seine Familie,
aber sonst akzeptiert er niemanden. Er hat die Eigenschaft, seine Herrn extrem zu schützen.
Ein weiteres Problem war, dass es ein ländlicher Hund
war, der nicht sehr daran gewöhnt war, gestreichelt zu
werden und plötzlich zu Familien mit Kindern kam.
Uns wurde erzählt, dass er, wenn er an einer Schule
vorbei kam und Erwachsene mit Kindern sah, „diese
fressen wollte”… Er scheint die Erwachsenen als
Bedrohung für die Kinder empfunden zu haben. Er
war zu eifersüchtig und zu beschützend.
Wir denken, dass dieses Tier, da es nicht daran
gewöhnt ist, für seine Tätigkeit, die es gern tut, belohnt zu
werden, normalerweise keine Streicheleinheiten braucht.
Durch diese soziale Veränderung wurde er extrem treu.
Außerdem scheinen ihn der Lärm der Hauptstadt,
der Verkehr, die hohen Gebäude usw. Nervös gemacht zu haben.
Es ist möglich, dass er, wenn er in der Stadt
aufwachsen würde, in ein paar Generationen als
Begleithund verwendet werden könnte...
Wahrscheinlich. Es gab ein Problem wegen des Abkommens, das die beiden Vereine für die Zucht von Bardinos
unterzeichneten. Der andere Verein erfüllte die Bedingungen nicht. Dadurch wurde die Übergabe unserer Hunde
verzögert, und als die Jungen hier raus kamen, waren sie
schon ungefähr sieben Monate alt. Das empfohlene Alter
für den Beginn einer Ausbildung ist niedriger.
Auch die Hirten ließen ihre Hündinnen auf dem Hof
gebären, wo die Ziegen gehalten wurden, um die Hun-
de von klein auf an den Geruch und die Geräusche
des Viehs zu gewöhnen. Wenn ein oder zwei Generationen dieser Hunde in der Stadt geboren würden
und an Menschen gewöhnt wären, gäbe es mit ihrem
Nachwuchs sicherlich keine Probleme.
Es sind ja Hunde, die halb wild aufwachsen und
für die Tätigkeit auf dem Land ausgebildet werden.
In einem anderen Umfeld könnten sie sich als Familienhunde an eine neue Umgebung gewöhnen.
Es ist schade, dass – obwohl die Hunde alle diese
hervorragenden Eigenschaften besitzen, von
denen Sie uns erzählt haben – kein Programm
organisiert werden konnte, um zukünftige Blindenhunde auszubilden. Wie kamen Sie mit der
O.N.C.E. in Verbindung?
Wir hatten gehört, dass sie beabsichtigten, einem
Züchter einen ganzen Wurf abzukaufen, während wir
die Hunde züchteten und sie dann verschenkten, um
diese Rasse auf der Insel zu erhalten, damit sie nicht
ausstirbt. Deshalb haben wir ihnen diese Hunde für
die Versuche verkauft.
Zurzeit arbeiten an einem seriösen Plan für die
Wiederbevölkerung dieser Hunde. Wir kämpfen auch
dagegen, dass diese Tiere auf dem Schwarzmarkt
verkauft werden.
Gibt es einen Schwarzmart und wie ist der?
Hier wurden Hunde gekauft, um sie zu kreuzen, weil
der kanarische Jagdhund Mode war. Dieser Hund ist
eine Mischung aus zwei Rassen, von denen eine der
Bardino ist. Dies führte dazu, dass unsere Hunde auf
unserer Insel fast ausgestorben sind.
Es wurden Hunde exportiert, vor allem die mit hellem Fell, da sie sehr selten sind.
Außerdem wollten die Viehzüchter Hunde mit sechs
Zehen. Diese waren eine Folge der Endogamie, die
am Anfang der Entstehung jeder Rasse notwendig
ist, um die genetischen Eigenschaften zu stärken.
Für die Züchtung aller Hunderassen wird etwas mit
der Endogamie gearbeitet.
Aber es muss eine Grenze geben: Man sollte 75 %
rein und 25 % endogam lassen, damit keine Missbildungen entstehen.
Außerdem hat es dem Bardino geschadet, dass
er an Schönheitswettbewerben teilgenommen hat.
Dadurch wurde seine Rasse kaputt gemacht.
Warum sind die Schönheitswettbewerbe schädlich für die Rasse?
Der Wert eines Arbeitshundes misst sich daran, wie
sich dieser Hund bei der Arbeit verhält. Aber wenn er
15 Jahre lang zu einer Ausstellung gebracht wird, um
einen Preis zu bekommen, führt das dazu, dass diejenigen, die nichts von Hunden verstehen, ein Junges von
diesem preisgekrönten Hund haben möchten. Auch
derjenige, der etwas von Hunden versteht, aber diese
Rasse nicht kennt, wird den am meisten schätzen,
der den Preis gewonnen hat. Er sieht aber nicht die
Fähigkeiten des Hundes als Wächter und Arbeitstier,
da dieser Preis das nicht in Betracht zieht.
Wie finanziert sich der Verein, wenn die Hunde
verschenkt werden?
Wir verschenken sie vor allem auf dem Land. Außerdem kontrollieren wir, wie das Tier behandelt wird. Bis
jetzt wurden wir von einem Unternehmen aus La Lajita
unterstützt, das Oasis Park heißt. Es hat uns Futter
und widerstandsfähige Zäune zur Verfügung gestellt,
die hinsichtlich der Kraft dieser Hunde angemessen
sind. Wir hätten auch gerne Unterstützung von Leuten, die den Platz und die Vorraussetzungen für die
Zucht haben: Einen Ort, wo man die Landarbeit der
Hunde beobachten kann. Uns interessiert jede Art
von Hilfe in Form von Mitgliedschaften oder Futter.

“Todos Los Santos” en el mundo
Mientras en el archipiélago canario la Noche de los
Finados y Halloween intentan convivir en armonía la
última noche de octubre, el 1 de noviembre se celebra el día de Todos los Santos.
La conmemoración del día de Todos los Santos
es una tradición cristiana que se instituyó en honor
de todos los santos, tanto los conocidos como los
desconocidos, según indica el papa Urbano IV. El
objetivo era que los fieles tuvieran la oportunidad de
compensar su ausencia a las fiestas de los santos
durante el resto del año.
En los países católicos, el día de Todos los Santos
se celebra el 1 de noviembre, mientras que en los
que predomina la Iglesia Ortodoxa se conmemora el
primer domingo después de Pentecostés. También
lo celebran las Iglesias Anglicana y Luterana, en las
que se rinde homenaje a los santos que no tienen
una fiesta propia en el calendario litúrgico.
Pero pese a ser una única celebración, las tradiciones son bien distintas en función de las culturas
y de los países. ¿Quieres saber cómo viven el día de
Todos los Santos en diferentes partes del mundo?
SUECIA
Si viajamos hasta los países nórdicos, en Suecia el
1 de noviembre es una fecha señalada para visitar
los cementerios y estar en familia. Es costumbre encender velas en las tumbas de los familiares, creando
en ocasiones una imagen típica que acompaña a las
primeras nieves. Además, suele ser habitual que las
velas estén acompañadas de flores y coronas.
GUATEMALA
Al otro lado del charco, en Guatemala, esta celebración sirve para rendir homenaje a las personas
que ya no están. Además de visitar los cementerios y
llevar flores a los difuntos, en el poblado de Santiago
Sacatepez surgió, hace más de un siglo, la costumbre
de volar los barriletes gigantes. Según sus creencias,
cuánto más alto vuelen, más posibilidades tienen de
comunicarse con sus seres queridos fallecidos y de
ahuyentar a los malos espíritus.
MÉXICO
En tierras mexicanas, la tristeza por los difuntos
se mezcla con una colorida fiesta en una curiosa
combinación entre la cultura prehispánica y la religión católica. Por un lado, el 1 de noviembre, es una
jornada dedicada a los santos que vivieron de modo
ejemplar y a los niños difuntos. Para rendirles culto,
los familias realizan altares en iglesias, cementerios o
incluso en las casas, adornados con colores y objetos
cotidianos, como, por ejemplo, algún juguete para los
niños a los que homenajean.
Pero la fiesta grande llega el 2 de noviembre, día
de los Muertos. En esta fiesta, marcada por innumerables costumbres, los mexicanos hacen ofrendas a
los fallecidos y elaboran altares que son verdaderas
castañas, los panellets (dulces típicos también en el
levante español) y los boniatos.
Estos son solo algunos lugares con los que compartimos tradiciones para conmemorar un mismo hecho.
Sin embargo, en una festividad casi universal, no en
todos los países se celebra en la misma fecha. En
China, por poner un ejemplo, la fiesta del Qingming,
dedicada a los difuntos, coincide con el equinoccio
de primavera. Las flores, el incienso, loa alimentos
o incluso el dinero, se ofrecen a los que están en el
más allá para que no les falta de nada.
En definitiva, el día de Todos los Santos tiene un
carácter prácticamente universal en recuerdo de
los muertos. El paso de los tiempos, las religiones
y las costumbres de cada país han ido moldeando
las acciones, pero todas mantienen el sentido inicial
de homenaje, recuerdo y respeto por los fallecidos.

ANDORRA
Mucho más cerca de nuestro país, en Andorra, el
día de Todos los Santos es el momento de acercarse
a los cementerios a recordar a los que ya no están.
Sin embargo, también es la ocasión perfecta para
revivir antiguas costumbres gastronómicas como las

Allerheiligen in verschiedenen Teilen der
Welt
Während im kanarischen Archipel versucht wird, die
Nacht der verstorbenen Seelen und Halloween in der
letzten Nacht des Monats Oktober auf harmonische
Weise zu vereinen, wird am 1. November Allerheiligen
gefeiert.
Das Allerheiligenfest ist eine christliche Tradition,
die zu Ehren aller bekannten und unbekannten Heiligen gefeiert wurde, wie Pabst Urbanus IV. erklärte.
Dadurch sollten die Gläubigen die Gelegenheit
bekommen, diese Heiligen dafür entschädigen,
dass ihnen im Rest des Jahres kein weiteres Fest
gewidmet war.
In den katholischen Ländern ist Allerheiligen am
1. November. In solchen, wo die orthodoxe Kirche
dominiert, wird dieses Fest dagegen am ersten Sonntag nach Pfingsten gefeiert. Auch die anglikanische
und die lutherische Kirche ehren die Heiligen, die im
liturgischen Kalender kein eigenes Fest haben.
Obwohl es immer das gleiche Fest ist, sind die
Traditionen in den verschiedenen Ländern und Kulturen sehr unterschiedlich. Möchten Sie wissen, wie
Allerheiligen in den verschiedenen Teilen der Welt
gefeiert wird?
SCHWEDEN
In den nordischen Ländern: In Schweden ist der 1.
November ein Tag, an dem man auf den Friedhof geht
und Zeit mit der Familie verbringt. Es ist üblich, Kerzen
auf den Gräbern der Verwandten anzuzünden. Manchmal kommt gleichzeitig der erste Schnee. Zu den Kerzen
kommen normalerweise auch Blumen und Kränze.
GUATEMALA
Auf der anderen Seite des Meeres, in Guatemala,
dient dieses Fest dazu, die Verstorbenen zu ehren.
Die Leute gehen auf den Friedhof und bringen den
Verstorbenen Blumen. Außerdem entstand in dem Ort
Santiago Sacatepez vor mehr als einem Jahrhundert
der Brauch, riesengroße Drachen fliegen zu lassen.
Je höher diese fliegen, umso größer ist nach dem
Volksglauben die Möglichkeit, mit den Verstorbenen
in Verbindung zu treten und böse Geister zu verjagen.
MEXIKO
In Mexico wird die Trauer um die Toten mit einem
farbenfrohen Fest kombiniert: Das Ergebnis ist
eine bemerkenswerte Mischung aus der Kultur der
Ureinwohner und der katholischen Religion. Einerseits ist der 1. November der Tag der Heiligen, die ein
vorbildliches Leben geführt haben, und er ist auch
der Tag der verstorbenen Kinder. Um die letzteren
zu ehren, errichten die Verwandten Altäre in den
Kirchen, auf den Friedhöfen und sogar zuhause, die
mit bunten Farben und alltäglichen Gegenständen
geschmückt werden, wie zum Beispiel Spielzeug für
die verstorbenen Kinder.
Aber das große Fest wird am 2. November gefeiert,
dem Tag der Toten. Bei diesem Fest, das sich durch
unzählige Traditionen auszeichnet, bringen die
Mexikaner den Verstorbenen Opfer und errichten
Altäre, die wahre Kunstwerke sind. Einige Altäre bestehen aus einem Foto zuhause, das von Blumen und
Erinnerungen umgeben ist, andere dagegen sind sehr
große Werke voller Farben, Kerzen, Gerüchen und anderen Dingen, die mit dieser Tradition verbunden sind.
Den Toten werden sehr verschiedene Opfer gebracht: Blumen, Speisen und Getränke. Der Altar, der in
der Nacht vor dem Fest hergerichtet wird, wird allein
gelassen, damit die Geister zurück kommen und eine
Nacht lang das genießen, was ihnen ihre Familien
bereit gestellt haben.
ANDORRA
Viel näher an unserem Land liegt Andorra, wo es
üblich ist, Allerheiligen auf den Friedhof zu gehen und
sich an die Verstorben zu erinnern. Dieser Anlass wird
jedoch genutzt, um an alte gastronomische Traditionen wie Kastanien, Panellets (eine auch im Osten
Spaniens typische Süßigkeit) und Süßkartoffeln zu
erinnern.
Dies sind einige der Orte, mit denen wir die Tradition
gemein haben, das gleiche Fest zu feiern. Obwohl das
Fest fast universell ist, wird es nicht in allen Ländern
zum gleichen Datum gefeiert. Zum Beispiel in China
findet das Qingming-Fest, das den Verstorbenen
gewidmet ist, zur Frühlings-Tag-und-Nacht-Gleiche
statt. Blumen, Weihrauch, Lebensmittel und sogar
Geld werden jenen geopfert, die schon im Jenseits
sind, damit ihnen nichts fehlt.
Lange Rede kurzer Sinn: Allerheiligen ist ein fast universelles Fest zu Ehren der Toten. Im Lauf der Zeit wurde
es durch die Religionen und Bräuche der verschiedenen
Länder geprägt, aber überall sind die Ehrung der Toten,
der Respekt und die Erinnerung grundlegend.
All Saints Day around the world
While in the Canaries’ Archipelago “la Noche de los
Finados” and Halloween try to coexist in harmony during the last night of October, on the 1st of November
we celebrate All Saints Day.
The celebration of All Saints Day is a Christian tradition that was created in honour of all saints, both
known and unknown saints as explained by Pope
Urbano IV. The objective was for devotees to have the
opportunity to compensate for their absence during
the other saints’ days during the rest of the year.
In Catholic countries, All Saints Day is celebrated
on 1st November, whereas for the Orthodox Church
it is celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
Anglican and Lutheran Churches also celebrate it
which is when they pay tribute to Saints who don’t
have their own date on the liturgical calendar.
Despite being a unique celebration, traditions are
very different according to the culture and the country. Would you like to find out how All Saints Day is
celebrated in various parts of the World?
SWEDEN
If we travel to Nordic Countries, in Sweden, the 1st
November is a date when people go to cemeteries
and spend the day with their family. Their customs
include lighting up candles on the tombs of their
families, which sometimes creates a typical image
that coincides with the first snow falls. Furthermore
they tend to put flowers and crowns with the candles.
GUATEMALA
On the other side of the world, in Guatemala, those
celebrations honour people who have passed away.
In addition to visiting cemeteries and bringing flowers
on the graves, in the village of Santiago Sacatepez,
over a century ago, the custom started to fly giant
kites. According to their beliefs, the higher they fly
and the most chance they have to communicate with
their loved ones who passed away and to keep bad
spirits away.
MEXICO
In Mexico, the sadness for loved ones who passed away is mixed with a colourful celebration in a
curious combination between pre-Hispanic culture
and catholic religion. The 1st of November is a day
dedicated to Saints who lived an exemplary life and
to children who passed away. In their customs, fami-
lies creates altars in churches, cemeteries and even
in their homes and decorate them with colours and
every day objects, such as toys for the children they
want to honour.
But the big celebration happens on the 2nd November, on “the day of the Dead”. During this celebration,
which is marked with numerous customs, Mexican
people make offerings to the dead and create altars
that are true works of art. Altars range from a simple
photo in the home surrounded by flowers and souvenirs to enormous creations of all kinds of height with
numerous colours, candles, smells and many other
elements transmitted through traditions.
Offerings to the dead consist of a wide range
of items such as flowers, food or drinks. They are
prepared during the previous night and are left at
the altar so that spirits can come back and enjoy,
for one day during the year, what their families have
prepared for them.
ANDORRA
A lot closer now, in Andorra, All Saints Day is the
time to visit cemeteries and remember those who
are no longer with us. However, it is also the opportunity to re-live ancient gastronomy customs such as
“castañas”, the “panellets” (typical sweets that also
exist in the Levante area in Spain) and the “boniatos”.
Those are some of the places that share Spanish
traditions to commemorate one same event. However this celebration, which is almost universal, is not
celebrated on the same date everywhere. In China,
for example, the “Qingming” celebration which is
dedicated to those who passed away, coincides with
the Spring equinox. Flowers, incense, food or even
money are given as offerings to the dead to ensure
that they have everything they need.
Finally, All Saints Day is almost universal as far
as remembering the dead is concerned. Time that
goes by, religions and customs for each country have
modified the actions but they all maintain the initial
meaning of honouring, remembering and respecting
those who passed away.

Stephanie Thomas, artesana de trabajos en
fieltro
Es una mujer llena de ideas, alegre, vital y esta
personalidad se refleja en sus creaciones.
Al entrar en su taller lo primero que sorprende es la
explosión de color de todos los objetos que allí se realizan. Es como si de pronto traspasásemos el umbral de
un mundo de fantasía, donde los zapatos del duende
danzan al lado de las marionetas y las flores multicolores forman el paisaje, mezcladas con hojas y algas de
bellos tonos verdes. Bolsos, pendientes, adornos de
pelo, llaveros y preciosos recipientes que recuerdan
flores mágicas, se combinan con absoluta naturalidad.
Stephanie, cuando llegó a Fuerteventura?
Hace ya 13 años que vine desde Dusseldorf, donde
nací.
Este trabajo que realiza ahora, ¿era su actividad
en su país?
No, realmente esta idea nació aquí. Un día en la
playa, vi en una furgoneta trabajos hechos con fieltro
en color natural y en ese momento mi cabeza visualizo el potencial que tenia pero en una explosión de
color y formas divertidas y originales.
¿Y cómo aprende y se informa de esta técnica de
trabajo para fabricar el fieltro?
Mientras trabaja aquí, en un hotel al principio, iba
empleando mis horas libres en buscar información
en Internet y así aprendí, dónde conseguir las lanas
y la técnica. Luego empecé a realizar los primeros
ensayos. Una amiga me trajo la lana de Alemania y
realice mi primera pieza… ¡Un bolso! No estaba mal
y esto me dio ánimos para seguir.
¿Desde cuándo presenta estos artículos en el
mercado?
Desde el 2004; comencé primero en las ferias de
artesanía y tenía el taller en casa; desde hace un año
aproximadamente, tenemos este taller exposición en
Lajares. También se encuentran mis artículos en las
tiendas de artesanía del Cabildo y en algunas tiendas
de Las Palmas y Lanzarote.
¿El material que se emplea para realizar el fieltro
son lanas?
Sí, compro estas lanas merinas que son originarias
de Nueva Zelanda. Llegan cardadas y teñidas y luego
las transformo en fieltro.
¿Puede contarnos algo sobre este proceso?
Primero realizo un patrón o molde con las formas
que necesito dar al fieltro y sobre el, voy aplicando
capas finísimas de lana hasta un total de unas 12
capas. Se van humedeciendo con agua y jabón y utilizando el calor, el patrón es enrollado, con una toalla
y se amasa hasta conseguir el tejido compactado. Es
la forma más antigua y artesanal que existe.
Curiosamente el descubrimiento del tejido de fieltro, como otras muchas cosas relevantes de debió
a la casualidad. Al intentar trasportar la lana en la
antigüedad, la colocaban bajo las sillas de los caballos y al llegar a su destino se había convertido en un
tejido compacto, por el efecto del sudor del caballo,
el calor y el amasamiento del jinete en el camino.
¿Imaginamos que sobre todo para los zapatos,
aceptará encargos?
Sí, desde luego, cualquier cosa que deseen. Yo
tengo aun mil ideas para realizar como novedades
en mis diseños. Podría decirse que tengo diseños
proyectados en mi mente hasta el año 2025.

Stephanie Thomas – Handcraft maker with
felt
This woman is full of ideas, happy, full of life and
whose personality shows in her creations.
Upon entering in her workshop, we are first surprised with the explosion of colours of all the objects that
are created there. It is as if we had suddenly stepped
into a fantasy world, where the elf’s shoes dance
next to the puppets and where multicoloured flowers
create the landscape, mix with leaves and beautiful
green seaweed. Purses, hearings, hairclips, key rings
and beautiful containers that remind us of magical
flowers, all combine in an absolute natural manner.
Stephanie, when did you arrive in Fuerteventura?
I was born in Dusseldorf and moved here 13 years
ago.
This work you are currently doing, was it you activity in your country?
No, the idea came to me here. One day on the
beach I saw on a van some creations made with felt
in natural colours and I then visualised the potential
that there could be but with a multitude of colours
and fun and original shapes.
And how did you learn and find out about the
techniques to create felt?
I worked in a hotel at the beginning and during my
spare time I looked for information on the Internet
and this is how I learned, where to get the wool and
the techniques. Later I started creating the first tests.
A friend brought me wool from Germany and I made
my first piece… A purse! It wasn’t bad and this is what
motivated me to carry on.
How long have you been presenting items on the
market?
Since 2004; I first started in the Handcraft Fairs
and I had my workshop at home and for the past
year approximately we now have had an exhibition
workshop in Lajares. My creations are also available
in the Cabildo’s handcraft shops and in some shops
in Las Palmas and Lanzarote.
Is it wool that is used to make felt?
Yes, I purchase merino wool that comes from New
Zealand. They arrive carded and tainted and I later
transform them into felt.
Can you tell us a little about the process?
I first create a model or a pattern with the shapes
that I need for the felt and then I start applying up to
12 extremely thin layers of wool. I then wet them with
water and soap and start heating it up, the pattern is
wrapped up in a towel and it is pressed until the fabric
is compacted. This is the most ancient handcraft way
that exists.
Curiously the discovery of felt fabric, like most
things, was discovered by coincidence. In antiquity
when they transported wool, they used to carry it under the horse saddle and when they arrived at their
destination it had become a compact fabric because
of the effect of the horse’s sweat, the heat and the
weight of the rider along the way.
We imagine that you can make items on order,
especially shoes?
Yes of course, anything at all. I have thousands
of ideas of creations for new designs. We could say
that I have projects of designs in my mind that will
last me until 2025.

Sie ist eine fröhliche und lebendige Frau mit vielen
Ideen, und diese Persönlichkeit spiegelt sich in ihren
Werken wieder.
Wenn man ihre Werkstatt betritt, wird man sofort
von den vielen Farben der Arbeiten, die dort hergestellt werden, überrascht. Es ist so, als ob wir plötzlich
die Welt der Phantasie betreten würden, in der die
Schuhe des Poltergeistes neben den Marionetten
tanzen und die Landschaft aus vielfarbigen Blumen,
Blättern und Algen in schönen Grüntönen besteht.
Taschen, Ohrringe, Haarschmuck, Schlüsselanhänger
und wunderschöne Gefäße, die an magische Blumen
erinnern, werden auf natürliche Weise kombiniert.
Stephanie, wann kamen Sie nach Fuerteventura?
Vor schon 13 Jahren kam ich aus Düsseldorf, wo
ich geboren wurde.
Machten Sie diese Arbeit schon in Ihrer Heimat?
Nein, ich kam hier auf diese Idee. Eines Tages sah
ich am Strand einen Lastwagen mit Arbeiten aus naturfarbenem Filz. Ich stellt mir damals vor, was man
aus diesem Material machen kann, wenn man viele
Farben sowie originelle und lustige Formen verwendet.
Wie haben Sie sich über diese Technik mit Filz zu
arbeiten informiert und sie gelernt?
Während ich hier in einem Hotel arbeitete, nutzte
ich meine Freizeit, um Informationen im Internet zu
suchen; so erfuhr ich, wo ich die Wolle bekommen und
die Technik erlernen konnte. Dann begann ich meine
ersten Arbeiten herzustellen. Eine Freundin brachte
mir Wolle aus Deutschland mit, und ich stellte mein
erstes Werk her … Es war eine Tasche! Die war nicht
schlecht, und das ermutigte mich, weiter zu machen.
Seit wann bringen Sie Ihre Arbeiten auf den Markt?
Seit 2004. Ich begann in den Kunsthandwerksmessen und hatte eine Werkstatt zuhause. Seit ungefähr
einem Jahr haben wir dieses Ausstellungswerkstat
in Lajares. Sie finden meine Arbeiten auch in den
Kunsthandwerksläden des Cabildo sowie in einigen
Geschäften in Las Palmas und Lanzarote.
Wird der Filz aus Wolle hergestellt?
Ja, ich kaufe Merinowolle aus Neuseeland. Sie kommt
gekämmt und gefärbt hier an, und ich mache Filz daraus.
Können Sie uns etwas über diesen Prozess erzählen?
Zuerst stelle ich ein Muster her, das die Formen
hat, die der Filz bekommen soll. Ich verwende dabei
bis zu 12 sehr feine Schichten aus Wolle. Sie werden
mit Wasser und Seife befeuchtet. Dabei wird Hitze
verwendet. Das Muster wird in ein Handtuch gewickelt
und geknetet bis ein kompakter Stoff entsteht. Das ist
die älteste und handwerklichste Technik, die es gibt.
Es ist bemerkenswert, dass der Filz, genau wie viele
andere wichtige Dinge, zufällig entdeckt wurde. Vor
langer Zeit versuchte man Wolle unter den Sätteln der
Pferde zu befördern, und bei der Ankunft war durch
den Schweiß des Pferdes, die Hitze und die Bewegung
des Reiters ein kompakter Stoff daraus geworden.
Wir vermuten, dass Sie vor allem bei Schuhen
Auftragsarbeiten akzeptieren?
Ja, natürlich. Ich mache alles, was Sie sich wünschen. Ich habe immer noch tausend Ideen für neue
Entwürfe. Ich könnte sagen, dass die Entwürfe, die
ich im Kopf habe, bis zum Jahr 2025 reichen.

Fuerteventura.
La valiente defensa que los vecinos de Tiscamanita,
Tuineje, Pájara, Antigua, Agua de Bueyes, Casillas de
Morales, Toto, La Florida y Las Casitas hicieron de la
isla, impidió que este hecho se llevara a cabo.

Ayuntamiento and The Monte Janana Cultural Association for the organisation of the re-enactment of la

de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y Grupo Bomba de
Fuerteventura y el Grupo Guajavi. Entre los conciertos
destacó la actuación del popular y conocido grupo
Seguridad Social que ofreció una selección de sus
éxitos más conocidos en el panorama nacional de
música pop.
La Batucada Achimencey recorrió las calles de
Caleta de Fuste y también el Pasacalle y Papagüevos
con la Banda de Agaete animaron las vías principales
de Caleta de Fuste.
Los más pequeños también fueron principales actores, protagonizando las Fiestas Infantiles por las tardes con castillos hinchables, luchas de gladiadores,
escalada en rocódromo, tiro con arco, actuaciones
teatrales y el divertido cañón de la espuma.

Nachmittags hatten die Kleinsten bei dem Kinderfest
ihre Freude, wo es aufblasbare Schlösser, Gladiatorenkämpfe, eine Kletterwand, Bogenschießen, Theateraufführungen und die lustige Schaumkanone gab.

El Castillo’s Fiestas started with the spectacular act
from the Chinese acrobats called Beijing Acrobats,
who gave concerts every night during the Fiestas.
Amongst concerts, musical acts and festivals at
dawn that took place in Caleta de Fuste’s Fair Ground
where entry was free to all, one could witness the
following groups: Vallenato Colombiano, Grupos
Danzarte y Mahucu, Acustis Class, Güira Latina
from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Grupo Bomba
from Fuerteventura and Grupo Guajavi. The popular
and well known group Seguridad Social also gave a
concert with a selection of their best pop music hits
El ‘fam trip’ o viaje de familiarización del turoperador Travelplan ha desplazado a la isla de Fuerteventura a 150 agentes de viajes de toda la península
para que ‘vendan’ el destino a través de su propia
experiencia. Organizado por el Patronato de Turismo
en unión de cinco de los seis Ayuntamientos de la Isla
y el empresariado turístico, el objetivo ha sido mostrar
a estos 150 agentes de Travelplan la completa y variada oferta de Fuerteventura como destino turístico.
Desde el día de la llegada del grupo de agentes de
viajes, el Patronato de Turismo preparó un apretado
programa para dar a conocer de primera mano las
excelencias turísticas de la isla majorera, un destino
menos conocido para los peninsulares que Tenerife
o Las Palmas.
La guinda final la puso el hotel Bahía Real, en
Corralejo, donde se alojó el grupo representativo del
primer turoperador español, a quienes se les ofreció
una cena de gala en la que era imprescindible vestir
de blanco, se sortearon una serie de estancias para
dos personas con viajes de avión incluidos y, para
finalizar, un espectáculo en la discoteca a cargo del
grupo de teatro Clapso.
Además, y a título de presentación durante la mañana del lunes, el Patronato preparó en el Convention
Center del Hotel Elba Carlota de Caleta de Fuste unas
jornadas de trabajo en las que los 150 agentes de
viaje Travelplan conocieron de primera mano desde la oferta turística del propio Patronato, los seis
Ayuntamientos, las estaciones náuticas, los centros
de ocio, y la oferta alojativa más puntera de la isla.
La montaña sagrada de Tindaya, el castillo de El
Tostón, las playas verdes de El Cotillo y Corralejo,
la isla de Lobos, junto a la zona de Caleta de Fuste
fueron algunos de los lugares que el grupo visitó
durante su estancia en Fuerteventura.
En la opción deportiva, los agentes practicaron
buceo, alquilaron bicicletas para recorrer el islote de
Lobos, y practicaron kayak.
Travelplan’s “fam trip” brings 150
travel agents from Mainland Spain
to Fuerteventura
The ‘fam trip or familiarisation trip for Travelplan
tour-operators brought 150 agents from Mainland
Spain to Fuerteventura so that they can sell this
destination according to their own experience. This
initiative was organised by the Tourism Board with all
six Ayuntamientos on the island and tourism-related
businesses. The objective was to show those 150
Travelplan agents the complete and varied offer of
Fuerteventura as a touristic destination.
From the arrival day of the travel agents, the
Tourism Board had prepared a busy schedule to show
first hand the excellent touristic offer of the Majorero
Island, a destination that is less known than Tenerife
or Las Palmas amongst people from Mainland Spain.
The finishing touch was brought by the Bahía Real
hotel in Corralejo where the agents from the first Spanish tour-operator were staying. The hotel organised
a gala diner for those special guests, where everyone
had to be dressed in white. A few stays for two people
including flight tickets were drawn and the evening
ended with a show in the nightclub with the theatre
group called Clapso.
Furthermore, on Monday morning the Tourism
Board had prepared a presentation for all 150 Travelplan Travel Agents in the Convention Centre of
the Elba Carlota Hotel in Caleta de Fuste in order to
show them first hand the touristic offer of the Tourism
Board itself, all six Ayuntamientos, nautical centres,
leisure centres and the best accommodation on offer
on the Island.
The sacred Tindaya Mountain, Castillo de El Tostón,
green lagoons in El Cotillo and Corralejo, the island
of Los Lobos, and Caleta de Fuste were some of
the areas that the group visited during their stay in
Fuerteventura.
As for sports, the agents tried diving, rented bicycles
to go around the islet of Los Lobos and practised kayak.

damit diese ‘den Urlaubsort aufgrund ihrer eigenen
Erfahrung verkaufen’ können. Diese Reise wurde
gemeinsam vom Patronat für Tourismus und fünf der
sechs Gemeinden der Insel sowie den Tourismusunternehmern organisiert. Damit wurde beabsichtigt,
den 150 Reisevermittlern das vollständige und
vielseitige Angebot des Urlaubsortes Fuerteventura
zu zeigen.
Das Patronat für Tourismus hatte ein vollständiges
Programm vorbereitet, um der Gruppe der Reisevermittler das hervorragende touristische Angebot der
Insel zu zeigen, die den Spaniern weniger bekannt
ist als Teneriffa oder Las Palmas.
Den krönenden Abschluss bot das Hotel Bahía Real
in Corralejo, das für die die Gruppe von Reisevermittlern des wichtigsten spanischen Reiseveranstalters
ein Gala-Essen veranstaltete, zu dem die Gäste in
weißer Kleidung erscheinen mussten. Bei dieser Gelegenheit wurden mehrere Aufenthalte einschließlich
der Flüge für zwei Personen verlost. Zum Schluss gingen die Gäste zu einer Aufführung der Theatergruppe
Clapso in die Diskothek.
Außerdem organisierte das Patronat am Montagvormittag eine Arbeitstagung im Convention Center
des Hotel Elba Carlota in Caleta de Fuste, um den
150 Reisevermittlern von Travelplan das touristische
Angebot des Patronats, die sechs Gemeinden, die
Wassersportzentren, die Freizeitangebote und das

terrenos conocidos como Geafond, existe una nave
industrial de propiedad municipal que el Ayuntamiento está adaptando para convertirla en el Parque de
Bomberos más moderno de la isla. Aquí se instalará la
futura sede del centro de Extinción de Incendios y Sal-

vamento (Bomberos) del Ayuntamiento de La Oliva.
Se trata de una nave de 662 metros cuadrados, de
los que 444 metros cuadrados se localizan en la planta baja mientras que los 218 restantes constituyen la
planta alta. A este espacio interno se une el externo
con aproximadamente 2.000 metros cuadrados más
de terreno.
Las futuras dependencias de la Nave Integral de
Emergencia dispondrán de una cochera para tres
camiones, sala de control y oficina, dos despachos,
múltiples aseos, un gimnasio y un taller-almacén en la
primera planta, mientras que en la segunda planta se
instalarán una cocina y una sala polivalente que podría servir desde sala de reuniones a salón comedor.
También están contemplados vestuarios masculinos y femeninos y cuatro dormitorios por si han de
pernoctar compañeros de otros pueblos o islas. La
zona exterior se dedicará a prácticas deportivas. Se
estima que estas nuevas instalaciones podrían entrar
en funcionamiento a principios del próximo año.
The Ayuntamiento Works to set up
the first Fire Fighter Park on the
island
In the higher area of Corralejo, on the grounds
known as Geafond, there is an Industrial Unit belonging to the Municipality that the Ayuntamiento
is currently adapting in order to convert it into the
most modern Fire Fighter Park on the island. This is
where the future premises of the Fire Fighting and
Rescue Centre will be situated for the Ayuntamiento
of La Oliva.
This is a 662 square metre unit of which 444
square metres are on the ground floor and 218 on
the first floor which is surrounded by 2.000 square
metres of land.
The future premises of the Integral Emergency Centre will have a garage for three truck, a control room
and office, two offices, bathrooms, a gymnasium and
a workshop on the ground floor and the kitchen and
a multi-purpose room that can be used as a meeting
room or a dining room will be situated on the first floor.
There will also be men and women changing rooms
and four bedrooms in case colleagues from other
villages or islands have to stay overnight. The exterior
area will be dedicated to sports. It is estimated that
those new installations will be completed for the
beginning of next year.

Im oberen Teil von Corralejo, auf einem Grundstück, das Geafond heißt, wird in einer der Gemeinde
gehörenden Industriehalle der modernste Feuerwehrpark der Insel geschaffen. Hier wird der Sitz des
zukünftigen Zentrums für das Löschen von Feuern
und Rettung (Feuerwehr) der Gemeinde von La Oliva
sein.

Das Untergeschoss ist 444 Quadratmeter groß, das
Obergeschoss dagegen 218 Quadratmeter. Dazu

Im Erdgeschoss der künftigen integrierten Notfallzentrale werden eine Garage für drei Lastwagen,
ein Kontrollraum und Büro, zahlreiche Toiletten, ein
Fitnessstudio und eine Lagerhalle untergebracht,
im zweiten Stock dagegen die Küche und ein Mehrzwecksaal, der sowohl als Sitzungsraum als auch als
Speisesaal verwendet werden kann.
Außerdem sollen Umkleideräume für Männer und

Frauen sowie vier Schlafsäle eingerichtet werden,
falls Kollegen aus anderen Gegenden oder von anderen Inseln dort übernachten müssen. Der Außenbereich ist für Sportübungen bestimmt. Man geht davon
aus, dass diese neue Einrichtung Anfang nächsten
Jahres in Betrieb genommen wird.

gratuito de transporte a casi 150
escolares
Casi 150 alumnos del municipio de Pájara acuden
este curso lectivo a sus centros escolares gracias al
transporte gratuito que les brinda el Ayuntamiento.
Más de cien jóvenes de la localidad cursan estudios
en los institutos de Gran Tarajal, en el municipio de
Tuineje, por lo que el Ayuntamiento de Pájara pone
a su disposición dos guaguas municipales para que
puedan acudir a las clases.
Una de estas guaguas, cuyo destino son los institutos de Gran Tarajal, parte desde Morro Jable y recoge
a los alumnos y alumnos de la localidad que residen
en la costa de Sotavento (Morro Jable, Esquinzo,
Costa Calma y La Lajita). La otra sale desde Ajuy,
pasa por Mézquez, Pájara casco y Toto, y su destino
es también Gran Tarajal.

Por otro lado, más de una treintena de escolares de

municipal covered swimming-pool
is completed
The project of Morro Jable’s Municipal covered
swimming-pool started on 25th June thanks to the
State Plan for Employment and Local Sustainability.
Shortly cement will start being poured on the plot that
has been suitably prepared as advised by the mayor,
Rafael Perdomo Betancor.
This project is due to be completed within seven
months and will complement the sports’ facilities of
Calle Mascona that already consists of a Canarian
wrestling ground, various multi-sports areas and a
football ground.
The semi-Olympic covered swimming pool consisting of six lanes and 25 metres in width is integrated
in a 1.356 square meter complex and will have tiered
seats for spectators, changing rooms, solarium, bathrooms, air conditioning activated by solar energy
and water treatment by saline system.
The complex will have a second pool for learners
and lessons, where the younger swimmers will be
able to make their first strokes. Both pools will not
be dug in; they will suspended which will make their
maintenance easier.
The project that was designed by the technicians
from the Municipal Technical Office also includes
a possible extension of the complex which would
suggest the future construction of a gymnasium and
various multi-purpose sports rooms.

Almost 150 schoolchildren from the Municipality of

Con un plazo de ejecución de siete meses, esta
actuación vendrá a complementar el equipamiento
deportivo de la calle Mascona, que ya cuenta con terrero de lucha canaria, diversas pistas polideportivas
y campo de fútbol.
La piscina cubierta semi-olímpica, de seis calles
y 25 metros de largo, se integra en un complejo de
1.356 metros cuadrados sobre rasante, y estará
dotado de gradería de espectadores, vestuarios,
solárium, baños adaptados, sistema de climatización
del agua con aporte de energía solar, y depuración
por cloración salina.
Al complejo se le dotará de un segundo vaso, piscina para el aprendizaje y enseñanza, donde los más
pequeños podrán dar sus primeras brazadas. Los dos
vasos de estas piscinas quedarán suspendidos (no
enterrados) para facilitar el correcto mantenimiento
de las instalaciones.
El proyecto, redactado por el personal de la Oficina
Técnica Municipal, contempla asimismo una posible
ampliación del complejo, lo que supondría la construcción posterior de un gimnasio y varias salas de
usos múltiples de carácter deportivo.
Las obras de construcción de la Piscina Municipal
Cubierta de Morro Jable, comenzaron el pasado 25
de junio gracias al Plan Estatal de Empleo y Sostenibilidad Local. En breve se acometerán los trabajos de
cimentación, pues ya se ha realizado en la parcela

einem Klimatisierungssystem, das mit Solarenergie
funktioniert, und ein Reinigungssystem mit Chlorsaline ausgestattet.
Die Anlage wird auch ein Nichtschwimmerbecken
für den Unterricht bekommen, wo die Kleinsten Schwimmen lernen können. Die beiden Schwimmbecken
bleiben freistehend, damit die Einrichtung gut Instand
gehalten werden kann.
Im Rahmen des Projektes, das vom technischen
Büro der Gemeinde entworfen wurde, wird eine
mögliche Erweiterung der Anlage ins Auge gefasst,
bei der eine Turnhalle und mehrere Mehrzwecksäle
gebaut würden.

acondicionamiento de las zonas
verdes de la localidad
El Ayuntamiento, a través de varias de sus concejalías, potencia este otoño la campaña de acondicionamiento de las zonas verdes de la localidad, que
actualmente centra sus esfuerzos en los núcleos de
población de La Lajita y Morro Jable, para luego intensificar sus labores en otros enclaves del municipio.
En la zona del Barranco del Ciervo, en Morro Jable,
se procede a la adecuación de una amplia zona verde
colindante a la Estación de Guaguas, así como otras
ubicadas en la otra margen del cauce, concretamente
las existentes al fondo de la calle Pérez Galdós. En
cuanto a las actuaciones desarrollas en La Lajita,
comenzaron con la limpieza de los jardines existentes, que también han sido mejorados y embellecidos.
Costa Calma y Pájara casco su sumarán en breve
a esta campaña de acondicionamiento de las zonas
verdes, lo que supondrá el embellecimiento de muchos enclaves del municipio.
En unas pocas semanas, añaden, los trabajadores
del Ayuntamiento, habrán utilizado 2.000 metros
cúbicos de picón (restos volcánicos que retienen la
humedad), cuya distribución requiere de cien viajes
de un camión cuya capacidad de carga está establecida en torno a los 20 metros cúbicos.
Pájara supports the cleaning campaign of landscaped areas
This autumn, the Ayuntamiento, through its various
councils, is supporting the cleaning campaign of
its landscaped areas that concentrates its efforts
mainly on the areas of La Lajita and Morro Jable,
to later intensify the campaign in other areas of the
Municipality.
The area of Barranco del Ciervo, in Morro Jable has
been embellished with a large landscaped area close
to the bus station, as well as other sites on the other
side of the river, and in particular at the end of calle
Pérez Galdós. As for the initiatives carried out in La
Lajita, cleaning started in the existing gardens that
have also been improved and embellished.
The landscaped area cleaning campaign will soon
reach Costa Calma and Pájara, which will result in

In der Gegend des Barranco del Ciervo in Morro
Jable werden eine große grüne Zone neben dem
Busbahnhof und weitere Grünräume auf der anderen
Seite des Flussbettes, am Ende der Straße Calle Pérez
Galdós, in Ordnung gebracht. In La Lajita wurde mit
der Reinigung der Parks begonnen, die gleichzeitig
verbessert und verschönert wurden.
Demnächst werden auch die grünen Zonen in Costa
Calma und in der Altstadt von Pájara hergerichtet, wodurch viele Teile der Gemeinde verschönert werden.
In wenigen Wochenwird das Personal der Gemeinde 2.000 Kubikmeter Picón (ein Vulkanstein, der
Feuchtigkeit zurückhält) verwendet haben, für dessen Verteilung hundert Fahrten von Lastwagen mit
einer Kapazität von ungefähr zwanzig Kubikmetern

Este proyecto, financiado por el Plan Estatal para
el Empleo y la Sostenibilidad Local, impulsado por el
Gobierno central, contó inicialmente con un presupuesto de licitación de 250.000 euros y se adjudicó
definitivamente a la empresa Transportes Palo de
León SL por 218.725 euros.
El plazo de ejecución marcado en el pliego de
condiciones es de siete meses, y que el proyecto
contempla una superficie total construida de 351
metros cuadrados en una parcela municipal ubicada
entre la Piscina de Pájara casco, el Centro Cultural,
un equipamiento deportivo y el Aula de la Naturaleza.
Está previsto que la Guardería Infantil de Pájara
casco cuente (con sólo una planta de altura) con
tres aulas, un salón de usos múltiples, una cocina,
un comedor, una enfermería, una oficina de administración, los aseos y una sala de almacenaje; por
lo que añade que “estamos ante un inmueble muy
funcional, pero también de una alta calidad en cuento
a distribución de espacios y dependencias”.
El alcalde del municipio y la concejala de Educación, Ruth Lupzik, coinciden en destacar que la
puesta en funcionamiento de esta Guardería Infantil
vendrá a contribuir en la mejora de las relaciones

existentes entre la vida laboral y la familiar de muchas parejas jóvenes, matrimonios y vecinos no sólo
de Pájara casco, sino también de otros núcleos de
población cercanos.
The construction of Pájara’s
Nursery is progressing
This Project, financed by the State Plan for Employment and Local Sustainability, launched by the
central Government, that was put out to tender for
a budget of 250.000 Euros, has been handed over
to Transportes Pablo de León SL for 218.725 Euros.
The conditions stipulate a completion of the project
within seven months. The project represents a total
built surface of 351 square meters on a plot belonging
to the municipality situated between Pájara’s swimming pool and the Cultural Centre, a sports centre
and the Nature Classroom.
Pájara’s Nursery will consist of three rooms, a multiple use lounge, a kitchen, a dining room, an infirmary,
an administration office, bathrooms and a store room.
It is reported that it will be a very functional building
with great quality as far as distribution of space and
facilities are concerned.
The municipality’s Mayor and the Education Councillor, Ruth Lupzik, agree that the Nursery will contribute
in improving the existing relationship between working
life and family life for many young couples, married
couples and neighbours not only in Pájara but also
for all the neighbouring villages.
Fortschritte beim Bau des Kindergartens in der Altstadt von Pájara

ein funktionelles Gebäude, indem auch die Verteilung
der Räumlichkeiten und Dependancen ideal ist”.
Der Bürgermeister des Ortes und die Beauftragte
für Bildung betonten beide, dass dieser Kindergarten dazu beitragen wird, dass viele junge Paare die
Arbeit besser mit der Familie verbinden können. Er
wird nicht nur von den Anwohnern von Pájara casco,
sondern auch von Bürgern aus anderen Orten der
Gegend genutzt werden.
Más de 100.000 euros para
mejorar la electrificación
de Morro Jable
Los trabajos, que se desarrollarán en la avenida
de Jandía y las calles Buenavista y Las Gambuesas,
concluirán antes de que finalice el mes de diciembre
de este año.
El proyecto contempla la realización de diversas
actuaciones para ejecutar una nueva instalación
con la que se mejoren sustancialmente ciertas deficiencias. Entre ellas, que la mayoría de las lámparas

son de vapor de mercurio y baja eficacia luminosa,
y que la mayoría de las luminarias no disponen de
reflectores o sus reflectores son de bajo rendimiento;
aparte de que en general, las luminarias, lámparas y
equipos tienen una antigüedad que hacen que sea
aconsejable su sustitución.
Soluciones
Entre las soluciones planteadas en el proyecto de
mejora de esta instalación de la red de alumbrado
público en la avenida de Jandía y las calles Las
Gambuesas y Buenavista de Morro Jable están la de
sustitución de la red de alimentación aérea por una
red subterránea, instalar nuevos puntos de luz con
elevada eficiencia energética y sustituir los cuadros
de alumbrado existentes.
Zu dem Projekt gehören verschiedene Arbeiten, um
eine neue Installierung zu schaffen und gewisse Mängel zu beheben. Dazu gehört, dass die Mehrzahl der
Lampen aus Quecksilberdampf ist und wenig Licht
gibt. Außerdem verfügt die Mehrzahl der Lichtquellen
über keine oder über nur sehr schwache Reflektoren.
Dazu kommt, dass die Lichtquellen, Lampen und Anlagen schon alt sind, deshalb ist es empfehlenswert,
diese auszuwechseln.
Lösungen
Folgende Lösungen werden im Rahmen des Projektes für die Verbesserung der öffentlichen Beleuchtung in der Aavenida von Jandía und in den Straßen
Calle Las Gambuesas und Calle Buenavista in Morro
Jable durchgeführt: Ersatz des überirdischen Netzes
durch ein unterirdisches und Installierung von neuen,
effizienten Lichtquellen.

Over 100.000 Euros to improve
electrical network in Morro Jable
The initiative that has been developed in avenida de
Jandía and calles Buenavista and Las Gambuesas will
be completed before the end of December this year.
The project includes various parts that aim at
completing new installations that will improve greatly
some deficiencies. For example most street lights
work with mercury vapours that are not efficient,
most of them do not have reflectors or those have
low efficiency; furthermore in general those street
lights are quite old and need replacing.
Solutions
Amongst the solutions suggested within the project
of improvement of this street light network in avenida
Jandía and calles Las Gambuesas and Buenavista
in Morro Jable it has been decided to substitute the
aerial electrical supply by an underground network,
to install new street lights with high energy efficiency
and replace the existing meters.

Die Arbeiten, die in der Avenida von Jandía sowie

Este pasado mes de octubre en la Casa de la Cultura de Puerto del Rosario, se inauguró la Exposición
“Homenaje al Pintor de Puerto Cabras Jesús Machín”.
Una retrospectiva por las pinturas de “Suso Machín”,
junto con sus fotos, poemas y recuerdos invitaban a
conocer el antiguo Puerto de Cabras, hoy Puerto del
Rosario. Algunos autores que vienen participando
asiduamente en el Certamen de Pintura al que Jesús
Machín da nombre, presentaron también algunas
obras en otro espacio de la sala.
El acto fue aprovechado para presentar la rehabilitación y actualización integral que se ha llevado a
cabo en la Casa de la Cultura de Puerto del Rosario.
Un espacio cultural que gana 200 m² de exposición
además de su remodelación integral. El Ayuntamiento
ha invertido en esta acción unos 270.000 €
El Alcalde de Puerto del Rosario destacó en su
intervención la apuesta del Ayuntamiento por crear
un espacio para la creatividad de todos, destacando
la figura de Jesús Machín, como un personaje que
trasciende a sus valores pictóricos sino que a través
de su vida conoceremos la historia de la ciudad a lo
largo del siglo XX.
Lorenza Machín, una de las hijas de Jesús Machín
agradeció en su intervención el trabajo de todo el
equipo de cultura del Ayuntamiento capitalino en el
montaje de una exposición, una muestra de la que
Lorenza Machín declaró que “no le falta ni un detalle”
sobre la vida y obra de su padre.
Around two hundred people attend the inauguration of the “Homenaje a Jesús Machín” exhibition
The Inauguration of the exhibition called “Homenaje
al Pintor de Puerto Cabras Jesús Machín” took place
in Casa de la Cultura in Puerto de Rosario. A retrospective on Mr. Machín’s paintings together with his
photos, poems and notes invited visitors to find out
about Puerto de Cabras, now known as Puerto del
Rosario. Artists who participate regularly in the Jesús
Machín Painting Competition also displayed some of
their creations in a separate area of the room.
The event was also the opportunity to present the
extensive renovation work carried out in Casa de
La Cultura in Puerto de Rosario. The cultural space
has increased its exhibition space with 200 square
meters as well as being completely refurbished which
represents an investment of 270.000 Euros from the
Ayuntamiento.
Puerto del Rosario’s Mayor insisted on the
Ayuntamiento’s wager to produce a space for creativity for everyone, with Jesús Machín being the
centrepiece, as a person who, thanks to his lifelong
artistic creations has related the town’s history along
the 20th century.
Lorenza Machín, one of Jesús Machín’s daughters
thanked the Ayuntamiento’s cultural team for their
work in setting up the exhibition, of which she said
“nothing was missing” about the life and the creations
of her father.

Im Oktober wurde in der Casa de la Cultura in
Puerto del Rosario die Ausstellung „Hommage an den
Maler aus Puerto Cabras Jesús Machín” eröffnet. Es
ist eine Retrospektive mit Bildern von „Suso Machín”,
Fotos, Gedichten und weiteren Erinnerungen an das
ehemalige Puerto de Cabras, das heute Puerto del Rosario heißt. Einige der Maler, die regelmäßig an dem
nach Jesús Machín benannten Malereiwettbewerb
teilnehmen, stellten in einem weiteren Teil des Saales
einige Werke aus.
Diese Veranstaltung wurde auch genutzt, um die
Renovierung der Casa de la Cultura von Puerto del
Rosario zu präsentieren. Dieses Kulturzentrum hat
durch seine vollständige Umgestaltung eine 200 m²
große Ausstellungsfläche gewonnen. Die Stadt hat
ungefähr 270.000 € in diese Arbeiten investiert.
Der Bürgermeister von Puerto del Rosario betonte
bei seiner Rede, dass diese Arbeiten durchgeführt
wurden, um ein Kulturzentrum für alle zu schaffen.
Er bezeichnete Jesús Machín als Persönlichkeit, die
nicht nur wegen dem Wert ihrer Bilder bekannt ist,
sondern auch, weil wir durch ihr Leben die Geschichte
der Stadt im XX. Jahrhundert kennenlernen werden.
Lorenza Machín, eine der Töchter von Jesús Machín, bedankte sich in ihrer Rede für die Arbeit von
allen Mitarbeitern des Amtes für Kultur der Hauptstadt, die an der Vorbereitung der Ausstellung beteiligt
waren. Lorenza Machín sagte über diese Ausstellung
über das Leben und des Werkes ihres Vaters: „Sie ist
sehr detailliert, es fehlt gar nichts“.

El mundo de la moda tuvo el pasado mes de octubre
una nueva cita en Fuerteventura. El centro comercial
Atlántico, presentó a través de la agencia Bellemodel
la nueva colección Otoño-Invierno 2010/11.
Los modelos lucieron los mejores complementos
de esta temporada, en la que destacan los colores
oscuros y puntas redondas en calzado, el brillo de
las joyas y los más elegantes conjuntos.

niños y adultos, así como conjuntos juveniles y de
estilo urbano.
Todo esto, unido a la actuación del conocido
cantante Pepe Benavente, además de la estupenda
presentación de Samuel Perdomo y Carmen Hernández, que hicieron de la pasarela un gran evento con
multitud de visitantes y espectadores.

Baumwolle und Leinen gezeigt. Es wurde enthnische, klassische und moderne Mode für Kinder und
Erwachsene, Kleidung für Jugendliche und GroßstadtMode vorgeführt.
Dazu kam ein Konzert des bekannten Sängers
Pepe Benavente sowie eine wundervolle Darbietung
von Samuel Perdomo und Carmen Hernández, die
dafür sorgten, dass zahlreiche Zuschauer zu dieser
Modenschau kamen.

shapes in shoes are dominant, together with sparkling
jewellery and the most elegant outfits.
The best clothes from various shops of the Commercial Centre were also presented by models. Garments
on display included fresh and comfortable outfits,
with cotton and linen fabrics of ethnic style, classical
items, a modern children and adult collection, as well
as urban style clothes for teenagers.
The event was animated by the signer Pepe Benavente and the amazing performance of Samuel
Perdomo and Carmen Hernández who transformed
the fashion show into a great event witnessed by
many visitors and spectators.
