FOL LOW T HESE STEPS TO ENSURE
PROPER MACH IN E OPERATION:
1. Check throttle control to be sure it
operat es freely.
2. Check brake to see that it is in good
operating condition.
3. Check t he steering to mak e sure tha t
t he sk is tu rn freely. Remove any ice
or snow bui ld-up aroun d steering
mechanism .
4. Check Lig ht s - I ncl uding Stop Light.
5. "Rock" machine to mak e sure t hat
track is not frozen down.
6. CHECK YOUR FUEL SUPPLY .
Never start out on an ext ended trip
without a full t ank and enough spare
fuel t o reach y our destination. For
fuel m ixtu re see Page 7.
7. Be sure that vou have your tool kit

FUEL MIXTURE
BREAK IN PROCEDURE
warm up before
1. Always use a good regular gasoline
for all "Y" series engines, and for all
5.5 . engines a good premium f uel
should be used.
2. Do no L lUll cnqinc lI L full t hrottle f or
the first l O La 15 hours. Y2 t o %
throttle is recom mended.
. Use a good grade of 2 cycle air
cool ed engine oil which is blended f or
snow mo bile use.
3. Set your carburetor slightl y richer
f or break in period.
3. The recommended oil -gas mixtu re
ratio is 20 parts fuel to 1 part oi I.

For initial starti ng, set the high speed jet (81
a t 1Y2 turn s op en, and the low speed jet (C)
at 1 turn open. Set the idle speed screw (AI
for best idle R.P.M. The high speed screw
can now be set for t op performance, this
must be don e while the vehicle is running
with driver aboard. Find the best setting and
th en open the high speed another Y.1 turn.

Remember: A lean carburetor will
cause severe engine damage.
Figure No. 3 shows on-off. posi

Caution: Make sure that carb fuel
pump pulse line is always clear
and not kinked as shown in Fig.

BRA KE ADJUSTMENT
Can be made in one of three different
ways or a combination of all three ways.
Init ial setting, w hen new, should be
made at the ca liper lever (Item " A" ,
Fig. No. 4 ). Then furth er field adjust
me nts can be made at t he handl e bar
cont rol lever by loosening th e jam nut
(Item "C", Fig. No. 6 ). Then turn ing
sleeve (Item "0'-; Fig. No.6) to tak e up
cable slack, then re-tiqht en jam nut.
Cable adjustm ent s can also be made at
t he nuts (It em " B", Fig. No. '1).
Do not adjust brak e too tigh t . After
a d j u s t ing brake make su re ca iiper

S HOCK ABSO R BER LO CATIO N
A. T he sh o c k absorber is installed at t he fa c to ry in the rear hole location " 3 a" . This p osit io n allo ws
ma x im u m suspension travel and is suitable for normal riding conditions. '
B. T he mid d le hole posi t io n " 3 b" lowers the fea r of the mchine and restricts the suspens ion t ravel to
betwee n 4 to 5 inches.
C. The forward position "3c" further lowers the rear of the machine and restricts t he suspension
travel to between 3 to 4 inches. This setting is suggested for rac ing on relatively sm o o t h conditions.
FRONT SPRING TENSION
4.
(Note: Minor adjustment of this sp ring d o es no t alter the ride to a great deal but it d oe s affect the
track angle contact w it h the sn ow. I
a. Normal adjustment for average condit io ns would be approximately 2 threads exposed through nut
No.4.
b. Tighter adjust me n t of nut No.4 woul d b e for heavy loads or minimum ski pressure , a nd maximum
weight tra nsf er to rear axl e .
REAR SPR ING TENSIO N
5.
a. Normal ad just m ent for soft ride or light loads should be with approximately 11," of threads exposed
t hr o ugh nut No.5. This adjustment produces maxi m um weight transfer to the track and gives m ini
mum ski pressure during acceleration.
b. Tight adjust ment of adjuster nut No.5 is for stiffer ride or heavy loads. This adjustment produces
mini m um w e igh t transfer to the track, and gives maximum ski pressure during acceleration.
2 .
CO M BINA T IO NS & VARIATIONS O R ADJUSTMENTS
The ma in points to remember wh e n adjusting your "Super Flexion" are as follows:
1. a. Mor e tension on front spring reduces ski pressure and increases weight transfer .
b . Less te nsion on front spring increases sk i pressure and reduces weight transfer.
2. The opposite applies to rear spring adjustment.
a. Mo re tension on rear spring increases ski pressure and reduces weight transfer.
b . Less tension on rear spring reduces ski pressure and increases weight transfer.
Remember th at " S ki Lift" is not desirable for good control and manoeuvrability, but it is ideal for
best acceleration. Wit h a little experimenting in the adjustments you will arrive at a setting that
will give y o u the "Super" Ride.
3 . Do ~ overtighten sprin gs.

SUMMER STORAGE
The following steps are recommended to prepare your snowmobile for summer st orage.
1. Thoroughly clean dill and oil from machine and engjne.
2. Hood can be cl eaned fine! polished w ith an automotive type cleaner wax.
3. Tra ck and SU SPUI1Sioll should have all adjustments backed off to relieve track & sprinqte nsion,
rem of machine high enough so that track is not on ground or floor.

I .
5. Apply light oil around steering post bushing s and spindle shafts, and all bare surfaces of ski
assemblies.
6. Siphon gas from fuel tank and run engine until it stops. Remove spark plug and apply small amount
of oil into spark plug hole. Turn engine over a few times and replace plug.
7. Store machine in shed, off ground or cement, on wooden blocks or boards. If stored outside, cov er
with t arpaulin, making sure windshield is not exposed to sunlight.
