Bericht des Präsidenten
die mit einer Geldspende beigetragen haben, um
Blumen und Erde zu erwerben.
Es ist kaum zu glauben, die
Haelfte des Jahres 2014 ist
vergangen und Oktoberfest
steht vor der Tuer!
Der Haupt-Vorstand ist
schon fleissig am planen
und organisieren, damit
wir hoffentlich wieder ein
erfolgreiches Oktoberfest
Veranstaltungen unterstuetzen!
Das “Long Range Planning” Komitee ist dabei,
einen Termin fuer die “Tischrunde-Diskussion”
festzulegen. Der Termin wird Ihnen natuerlich
bekanntgegeben!
davon wissen.

President’s Report
It is hard to believe that half of the year has gone
by and that Oktoberfest is only months away. The
main board is already planning and organizing
for this year’s festivities.
The cold spring weather kept us out of the gardens until after the May long weekend this year.
We are very fortunate to have 2 men so dedicated to the upkeep and beautification of our club
properties. Thank you to Mathias Schuster and
Karl Braun who prepared and planted all the
beautiful plants that we have adorning our gardens. A thank you also goes out to all the groups
for their generous donation towards the purchase
of the flowers.
The patio opening was well attended by our
members and guests who were entertained by the
Transylvania Hofbrau Band. The day was beauti-

ful but the cool evening air caused many to either
go inside or leave early. We would like to thank
the Outdoor group for the donation of a camera
system that enable the bar and wait staff in the
Schenke to serve our customers more efficiently.
The Concordia spring picnic and soccer tournament were held with a smaller attendance than
anticipated. We must remember that the events
that are put on by the Concordia Club are for all
of our members and we ask that you support as
many club groups and events in order to
strengthen our club.
We are in the early stages of the long range planning committee and are starting the round table
discussions. We have some topics that we are
currently looking at and will report on our findings on an ongoing basis. This process is not an
easy one and we do not have all the solutions.
Please forward any suggestions or comments to

the office that may help this committee in their
decision making.
You will notice a new big screen TV in the
Schenke. We ask that you invite your friends to
join you to watch the World Cup of soccer or any
other sporting events and enjoy our new addition.
Upcoming events:
July 22nd - Pig Roast and Patio party
August 9th - Summer Picnic and Bocce tournament at the farm
August 16th - Choir Picnic at the farm
Please do not forget the Semi Annual Meeting
on August 27th at 7:30 pm in our hall
Your President,
Rob Kerr
From the Manager’s Desk
Summer and the
Patio
We had another
great turn out for
our annual Patio
Opening! We were
a bit concerned in
the morning as the
rain
passed
through but the
sun came out just
in time for everyone to come together and
enjoy the evening. I hope that we continue
to see so many of you out enjoying the summer patio season for lunch or dinner.
A HUGE thank you to Karl Braun, Matt
Schuster & Horst Wiesner for their dedication in keeping our property looking good!
The flower beds and fields of grass need
constant attention and these gentlemen volunteer their time and work hard to see that
the watering and grass cutting is done to
keep it looking fabulous all summer long!
Of course we can’t forget to thank the
groups for their generous donations towards
the purchase of all the flowers!
I would also like to thank the Outdoor
Group for their generous donation of a camera for the patio. This should make it easier
for the wait staff and bartender to see who is
arriving on the patio from the bar area in the
Schenke. Very thoughtful and much appreciated!
On Tuesday, July 22nd we will be having
our second annual Pig Roast and Summer
Patio Party!
Hopefully this year the weather will cooperate a bit better and we will be able to actu-
ally have it on the patio instead of having to
move in to the Schenke. Last year we didn’t
have a large enough pig to portion so this
year we will be sure to have enough pork for
your fork! We will of course have entertainment again this year. Hope to see you all
there to enjoy the evening.
Addition to the Schenke
Once you receive this issue of the bulletin
you may have already had the chance to
enjoy watching the World Cup on our new
TV in the Schenke! We are very excited
about having the TV in place for the World
Cup games and hope that it will become an
added feature that will continue to draw
more of our members and guests in to enjoy
a meal and a nice cold beer. Our intent is not
to turn the Schenke into a sports bar but
simply to try and enhance, attract and encourage our members to come to the
Schenke more.
Oktoberfest
We are well under way with the planning
for Oktoberfest 2014!!! The on line admission ticket sales went very well again this
year. Showing us that we are the place to
come for a great Oktoberfest experience. As
usual, the Friday and Saturday nights are
sold out but we still have tickets available
through our on line system for the family
days as well as the Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
The job applications for Oktoberfest will be
available for pick up any time after July 2nd
here in the office or at the front desk. We
always need a lot of staff for all departments
so if you know of anyone looking to work
Oktoberfest please let them know that they
can come in and fill out an application.
I wish you all a wonderful summer!

CONCORDIA CHOIR
Concordia Chöre
Es ist offiziell! Martin Anderle ist unser
neuer Chorleiter! Nach einer Abstimmung
im Vorstand wurde Martin ein Angebot
gezeigt und er hat akzeptiert. Wir danken
Marianne Kelly für ihre Leitung durch den
Frühling und für unser Frühjahrskonzert.
Wir hatten unseren Goulaschabend am
Home on the Range.
halfen. Der Chor hat fuer Joerg and Else’s
50th Hochzeitstag gesungen. Wenn jemand
eine besondere VeranstaItung hat, lass den
Vorstand wissen und wir koennen fuer euch
singen.
Wir machen einige Ausflüge. Unsere Fahrt
ins Blaue ist am 13. September 2014.
August
2014. Kommt alle! Wir werden wieder die
großen DJ-Dienste FlipSide haben und dazu:
Berühmte Silent Auction
Berühmtes Chicken Dinner um 18:00
Berühmte Kinder Spiele
Berühmte Wurfbude
und Berühmten Spass!
It’s official! Martin Anderle is our new choir
director! After a board vote, Martin was presented with an offer and he excitedly
accepted. Thank you to Marianne Kelly for
conducting us through the springtime and
for our Spring Concert and the concert in
Hamilton.
We had our Goulaschabend at the Home on
the Range. It was beautiful weather for our
last choir practice of the year. Thanks to all
those who helped with preparation and at
the event. The choir sang for Joerg and Else’s
50th Anniversary. If any choir member has a
special celebration, let the board know and
we may be able to sing for you!
We have some trips coming up. Our Fahrt
ins Blaue is September 13, 2014. It is going
to be a big trip but, ah the old joke, I always
ask about our destination and nobody wants
to talk. Maybe I could bribe them? With
money? By singing? I don’t think that would
help.
Our choir picnic is Saturday August 16,
2014. Come one come all! We again will be
having the great DJ services of FlipSide
along with our:
Famous Silent Auction
Famous Chicken Dinner at 6pm
Famous Kids Games
Famous Wurfbude
and Famous Fun!
Hope to see you all!
Wir hoffen, euch alle zu sehen! Chor startet

Good Day to all of you,
The first tournament of the Ontario Open
Club Masters, season 2014, has taken place
at the Concordia Lanes on May 10th.
We did start with 4 Teams including our
new members of the Icestock Federation the
Kingston & Area Icestock Club lead by Karl
Hammer jr., the other Teams are of the Concordia Icestock Group the Bayern Club and
the Cambridge Icestock Club, just the members of the Milton Athletics were missing.
The weather was fantastic the lanes super
prepared and the mood of the players rose
with every shot, finally summer has arrived
and Asphalt Season is on. Playing outside
in shorts and have a sun tanning in the same
time is just one of the good things. The
Game went on with a lot of fun, even our
Kingston team playing for the first time on
asphalt had some trick shot’s up the sleeve.
After round one everything was still open,
no winner in sight. During the half time
break some players decided to have a sit
down with a beer at the Schenke, others
enjoyed the sun and used the time to check
on their equipment.
Round two became more and more interesting resulting in a Heartbeat final between
Bayern Club and Concordia, although Kingston and Cambridge where fighting with
fantastic shots in between, missing out on
luck at the end, here are the final results:
1. Concordia
8pts 1.506 coefficient
2. Bayern Club
8pts 1.420
3. Kingston & Area
6pts 1.459
4. Cambridge
4pts 0.581
It was a Saturday with a lot of nice and
memorable moments, Icestock brings people together and it is fantastic to see how all
ages even our youngsters with their little
stocks enjoy the sport.
We look forward to the second Tournament
on June 8th 2014, an official invitation will
go out separate.

Ladies Group
At our last meeting in June we had the Red
Cross come and tell us all about DISASTER
PREPAREDNESS. They told us that about 66
percent of people or more are NOT prepared
for an emergency in case of disaster or if
they have to evacuate their home or have no
power for days.
In our group only one person had an emergency / evacuation kit. One should know
their risks and make a plan for their family.
One should be prepared at all times for at
least 72 hours. You can go to www.GetPrepared.ca. This web site will tell you what
you need and how to be prepared. This was
a real eye opener for us.
One June 25, we will have had our Ladies
Group Picnic at the home of Karin Starck.
On August 18, we will be leaving for our
trip along the St. Lawrence River, stopping
at four major cities.
Please make sure you are at the September
meeting, so you can put your name down
for the dates you wish to work during
Oktoberfest.
Senioren-Gruppe
Wir trafen uns am 4. Juni in der Jaegerstube.
Anwesend waren 17 Mitglieder. Unsere
so langsam waechst unser Konto. Allerdings
Birthday” obwohl gar keiner Geburtstag
hatte--- OOPS !!
Wilhelm Busch
November will be upon us sooner than we

Campers
Greetings from the Farm!
The weather Gods smiled on us for our
Spring Picnic, and a great time was had by
all in attendance! Congratulations to Team
Malthaner for being the 2014 Soccer champions, and thanks to everyone else who participated.
Our next event is the Canada Day Celebration on June 28th, which may have already
taken place when you read this. (I hope you
were there!)
It’s hard to believe, but our Summer Picnic
and Bocce Tournament is coming up on
August 9th, I hope to see lots of Campers,
and non-campers out to enjoy all the Farm
has to offer! For the Campers, a reminder
that our annual meeting will be held on
August 10, 11am at the pavilion.
For those wondering about the status of
both the bridge, and the pool, if you log into
the club website, and go to the farm page,
there is a link for a bridge report that also
has the pool status.
That’s it for now, hope everyone is having a
great summer!!!

TABLE TENNIS GROUP
Liebe Tischtennis Freunde,
Hello Friends,
Unsere Klubmeisterschaft liegt hinter uns.
Our Group’s annual table tennis tournament
is now behind us. That means that playing
„just-for-fun“ is once again the top priority.
But that doen’t mean that the competitve
spirit will go missing during our regular
practice nights.
Das gibt allen Interessierten aus unseren
anderen Gruppen die Gelegenheit, einmal
bei uns vorbei zu schauen.
Die Pokalgewinner unseres diesjaehrigen
Turniers sind:
1. Platz: Stefan Babic,
2. Platz: John Mayer,
3. Platz: Ivo Babic.
Herzliche Glueckwuensche gehen an die
drei Erstplatzierten und ein Dankeschoen
an alle anderen Teilnehmer, die diesen
Wettkampf bis zum Schluss so spannend
gemacht haben.
Da Stefan Babic unser Turnier wieder
gewonnen hat, wird Hans Malthaner wie im
letzten Jahr die Pokalverleihung an unserem
Picknick vornehmen.
Fuer unser Picknick am Samstag, 19. Juli,
auf der Farm (Home on the Range) kuemmert sich unser Praesident um die Organisation und die noetigen Genehmigungen wie: SOP, Versicherung, etc.
Wie bei unserer Versammlung am 22. Mai
besprochen, werden wir auch in diesem
Jahr wieder eine Tombola durchfuehren.
Also denkt bitte daran, einen Preis im Werte
von $ 10.00 bis $ 15.00 beizusteuern.
Klaus Basler wird mit „chicken & ribs“ auch
in diesem Jahr wieder fuer unser leibliches
Wohl sorgen.

We would like to invite and welcome all our
other Club members to stop by on Thursday
nights and try the game.
Our trophy winners of this year are:
1. Place: Stefan Babic;
2. Place: John Mayer;
3. Place: Ivo Babic.
Our congratulations go to the three winners
and a hearty thank you to all other participants.
Our annual picnic will take place on
Saturday, July 19, at our usual spot, the
„Home on the Range“ at the Concordia
Farm. Stefan Babic will look after all necessary permits, e.g. SOP, insurance etc. This
year’s trophy presentation will be conducted by Hans Malthaner again since Stefan
and Ivo Babic, will both receive a trophy.
Following tradition, and as discussed in our
meeting of May 22, there will be a raffle. So
please remember to bring along a prize, valued between $10 and $15. The food will be
supplied by Klaus Basler in the form of his
famous „chicken & ribs“.
Last but not least, we send our best wishes
to Ferdel Staab for a speedy recovery.
Until next time,
Eckhard Michalski
