Abstract
The costume storage. Optimized preservation in storage of costumes and
accessoires
Most costume storage facilities do not fulfill all requirements for the “ideal”
safeguarding of clothing and accessories. Budgetary restrictions, staff shortages and
inadequate repository conditions work against such an ideal.
This thesis
demonstrates that air-conditioned storage areas, compact closet systems and timeconsumingly-fabricated storage aids are not only necessary to secure the
preservation of our cultural assets.
Non-airconditioned rooms and disused
furnishings can be also adapted to conservation requirements. Risks must be
assessed, objects monitored and measures to improve the situation as well as
handling regulations developed.
User-friendly, cost-effective improvement
suggestions are presented supplemented with photographs, technical illustrations
and instructions for implementation.

Das Kostümdepot. Optimierte Lagerung von Kostümen und Accessoires
Die meisten Kostüm- und Modedepots entsprechen nicht in allen Belangen den „idealen“ Voraussetzungen zur Aufbewahrung von Kostümen und Accessoires. Finanzielle Knappheit, Personalmangel und unzureichende Depotbedingungen stellen sich
dem Ideal entgegen. Diese Arbeit zeigt, dass nicht nur klimatisierte Depoträume,
Kompaktschrankanlagen und zeitaufwendig hergestellte Aufbewahrungsbehelfe den
Erhalt unserer Kulturgüter sichern können. Auch nicht ideal klimatisierte Räumlichkeiten können als Depot dienen sowie im Haushalt ausgedientes Inventar kann konservatorischen Ansprüchen entsprechen. Risiken müssen erkannt werden und unter
Beachtung objekterhaltender Umgangsregeln Maßnahmen zur Verbesserung der
Aufbewahrungsituation getroffen werden. Es werden einfach durchführbare und kostengünstige Verbesserungstipps für Lagerung, ergänzt mit Fotos, technischen Zeichnungen und Beschreibungen zum Nachmachen aufgezeigt.
