5. Leseverständnis
(Reading comprehension)
Please read the following story and answer the questions:
Man leaves £180,000 violin on train
An insurance company offered a £ 10,000 reward yesterday for the return of a valuable 17th century
violin after the owner left it on a train. The violin is a 1698 Venice-made Goffriller and is worth
£ 180,000.
Its owner, Robert Napier, was on his way home from London after an appointment with an antiques
dealer. Ironically, the meeting with the dealer was to value the instrument. Mr. Napier got off the
train at his local station but forgot the violin. It was still on the luggage rack above the seat.
“It was one of those terrible moments,” he said. “I think about it again and again. I put the violin on
the luggage rack to keep it safe. I didn't hink I could forget it!”
Mr. Napier owns the violin with his two brothers and two sisters. It originally belonged to their
mother, a violinist, who died in 2006 at the age of 93. It has been in the family since 1930.
Please answer the following questions;
1. The violin is very …..........................................................................................................................
2. It's worth ….......................................................................................................................................
3. How long has it been in the Napier family?......................................................................................
4. Why had Robert Napier been to London?.........................................................................................
5. Where did he leave the violin?...........................................................................................................
