I’m excited about what we have accomplished
through our Foundation in 2008.
In 2008, we continued to make a positive, lasting impact on many young people through
our Foundation’s programs. I believe that anything is possible and I’m very proud of these
confident, inspired students who have discovered the same is true for their lives.
This year more than 8,000 young people participated in engaging classes at the Tiger
Woods Learning Center, including aerospace rocketry, nutrition and fitness, business
entrepreneurship and forensic science. The TWLC continues to surpass our expectations,
reaching more than 20,000 youth and families since inception. The Foundation has also
worked to bring meaningful programs to young people nationwide. In 2008, our Earl
Woods Scholarship program expanded to include recipients from Washington, D.C. and
Boston while continuing to support the college dreams of local Orange County youth.
Tiger’s Action Plan successfully reached more than 250,000 young people and 10,000
teachers around the country. We also awarded grants to approximately 75 amazing
youth-based organizations around the world.
The following pages highlight the details of these 2008 triumphs, including the
personal experiences of a few young people the Foundation has positively impacted.
We have achieved more success than ever imagined thanks to the support of generous
corporations, organizations and individual donors. Thank you all for sharing in our vision.

Eric Leos has attended the Tiger Woods Learning Center since 8th grade.
This is his story of how the TWLC profoundly changed his life:
Tiger Woods
Learning Center
Launched in February 2006, the Tiger Woods Learning
Center is an innovative 14-acre, after school campus
designed to inspire career exploration. Serving
members in grades 5 through 12, classes include
forensic science, robotics, engineering, aerospace,
video production and marine biology.
When I was in 7th grade, I began walking down the wrong road.
I was not motivated at all and I was falling behind in school. My
grades were low and I began to feel badly about myself. I was
hanging out with kids who were going down the wrong path. I
asked myself, “Is that my path?” My answer was NO, but I didn’t
know what my path could be. My counselor told me to apply to
the Tiger Woods Learning Center. The first thing I noticed was
that people were nice to me. I began to feel like I was a part
of something. The staff worked with me to teach me how to
ask questions and not feel ashamed. I can ask about school,
personal issues, future plans and more. My grades went from
D’s and F’s to A’s and B’s and I finished with a 3.13 GPA. I was
so proud of myself, I cried. The day I got my report card, I closed
the door to my room and said to myself, “There is no reason for
me not to succeed, I just have to believe.”
The Learning Center got me on the right path. I have goals
that I want to reach, including going to college. It feels good
when you walk in and people are positive and make you feel
like you belong. Now I am part of the Youth Leadership Team
and have the chance to share my story with others. I speak at
conferences, volunteer in the community, lead tours and tell
people about the impact the Learning Center has had on my
life. I feel like I am helping others who might be where I was two
years ago. Now I feel like a role model. I feel like I am making
a difference in other kids’ lives, like the Tiger Woods Learning
Center has done for me. It’s a great feeling knowing that I can
make other people smile and help them with their lives. At the
Tiger Woods Learning Center, doors have been opened for me in
many ways. No matter what I decide, I KNOW I CAN DO IT and
the TWLC will help me!

For Tylor Cahill-Roberts, Tiger’s Action Plan not only helped him develop more
self-confidence, but also taught him the importance of helping others:

Action Plan
Tiger’s Action Plan, based on the book Start Something
by Earl Woods, is a free program for youth ages 8-17
that addresses three priorities: character education,
volunteer service and career exploration. Youth define
a personal goal and develop a plan to achieve it while
giving back to their community and exploring careers in
their areas of interest.
My name is Tylor Cahill-Roberts and I am in fifth grade. I live in
Mableton, Georgia. Tiger’s Action Plan helped me to become a
leader and inspired me to start a non-profit business. As part
of Tiger’s Action Plan, I participated in activities that built up
my self-esteem and taught me and my classmates to work as a
team. Before, I was a shy kid with no goals. I hated school and
acted out in class. I didn’t have many real friends and I didn’t
smile much. Now, I follow the example of my heroes, mentors
and role models.
Because of Tiger’s Action Plan, I was able to discover more
about who I am and how I can help others. Through the
activities in the program, I learned that I can accomplish
anything and I have the power to help others. As part of Tiger’s
Action Plan, we had to volunteer our time to help others. Since
one of my hobbies is drawing, I came up with the idea to start
a non-profit business called Comic Kidz. About 10 kids and
myself make comic-style cards and send them to sick kids at
a local hospital. The hospital has a pediatric unit with plenty
of kids who appreciate our Comic Kidz’s cards. I spent time in
the hospital and knew how lonely it can be and that kids want
to feel happy when they are there. When I was in the hospital,
someone gave me a card and it helped me feel a little better.
It was a lot of work to get my business started. I made a speech
to the principal, assistant principal, my teachers and my class
to get their approval for the program. The group meets two
times a week before school to make the cards. The hospital
pediatric nurses were so happy to receive the cards. They said,
“The children here have a smile on their faces each time they
receive a card that Comic Kidz made.” Our motto is “Making
Kids’ Lives Shine,” and thanks to Tiger’s Action Plan and the
Start Something book, I now know the importance of helping
others. I am also more organized and responsible. I laugh a lot
and I have friends. In the future, I hope to finish high school,
go to college and maybe be a zookeeper, an architect or a
business owner.

Fatou Sogoyou-Bekeyi, an environmental science major at the University of Idaho,

In addition to inspiring his son, Tiger, to become the
best golfer and person possible, Earl Woods inspired
countless children through his actions, books, and
TWF, which he co-founded with Tiger in 1996. The
Earl Woods Scholarship program was established to
honor his vision and spirit while continuing his legacy
of caring and sharing. In 2008, the program expanded
its reach beyond California, to include applicants
from Boston and Washington, D.C. The original five
scholarship recipients were accepted as second year
scholars, participating in a summer internship program
at the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim.
As an immigrant student coming from a small country in Africa,
financing my education was a major concern, so receiving the
Earl Woods Scholarship meant that I could reach my ultimate
goal of going to college. In my home country, young people
my age have few options and many are unable to finish
college because they have no means to cover the expenses.
I decided not to be one of them, and to take advantage of
the opportunities I have been given in the United States.
Considering the sacrifices I made to get here, I certainly plan
to work hard, to capitalize on every opportunity available to
me, and, with the help of this scholarship, achieve my dreams.

classes and people. There are so many classes on campus to
choose from, and a variety of people from all over the world
that I can meet.
This scholarship and the Tiger Woods Foundation have helped
me achieve my goals. I am going to show people that I am
a smart young man, and prove to others that I deserve this
scholarship by working hard in college and reaching my goals.
I think there is always a way to better your community, and it’s
my responsibility to find a way for me to do that.
It feels good to know that my financial status did not stop
me from reaching for a Ph.D. in environmental science. With
my education, I would like to work for the United Nations and
help improve the environment for my community and future

- Surasak Limsakul
20-year-old Surasak Limsakul’s family lost their home and business in the
tsunami. With the help of the Foundation, he is earning a hotel tourism degree at
Rajapat College in Phuket, Thailand, maintaining a high GPA.
Grants
The Tiger Woods Foundation is committed to making
direct community investments through its grant-making
program. Grants range from $2,500 - $25,000 and
target communities throughout the country. In 2008,
the Foundation awarded grants to 75 organizations
that specialize in education and youth development.
International Grants
TWF is investing in eight organizations in Thailand, China
and Korea as part of Tiger’s aspiration to positively
impact youth around the world. This global expansion
supports sustainable programs emphasizing education,
youth development, leadership and financial literacy.
Thanks to the vision of Tida Woods, Tiger’s mother,
the Foundation’s programs in Thailand are thriving.
In 2008, the Foundation chose to support Ban Kha,
a school serving 320 students, and eight girls from
Ratchaburi Convent School, an orphanage for girls.
Accompanied by representatives from the Foundation,
Tida traveled to Thailand to see first-hand how these
young children are impacted by TWF support.

AT&T National
The AT&T National made an exciting return to the
nation’s capital over the Fourth of July holiday weekend,
hosting 120 of golf’s finest players at Congressional
Country Club in Bethesda, MD. 23-year-old Anthony
Kim overcame a three-stroke deficit with a final round
of 5-under 65 to emerge from the pack and earn the
$1.08 million winner’s check. The second annual PGA
TOUR event benefiting the Tiger Woods Foundation
drew loyal fans and volunteers to witness the top
players compete for a share of the $6 million purse.

As part of the AT&T National’s growing tradition of
honoring the U.S. Military, golf balls from bases around
the world were delivered to Congressional Country Club
by the 101st Airborne Parachute Demonstration Team.
Waiting on the tee was Fred Couples, along with Maggie
Rollins and Jeff Dahl, two children whose parents were
actively serving in the military. Together they hit the
ceremonial “shot from around the world,” kicking off
the official start of the tournament.
The AT&T National raised more than $2 million for
the Foundation and awarded grants to over 50 youth
organizations in the area. Additionally, the Foundation
selected two local high school seniors to support
with college scholarships through the Earl Woods
Scholarship program.
Chevron World Challenge
Vijay Singh birdied the last hole on Sunday to edge
Steve Stricker by one shot and win the $5.75 million
Chevron World Challenge presented by Bank of America
at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Singh closed with his second consecutive round of
67 to claim the $1.35 million winner’s check and the
tournament trophy given to him by host Tiger Woods.
Singh, 45, also won the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup and
ended the year on a high note.
2008 marked the 10th anniversary of this spectacular
holiday event. The tournament brought 16 of the world’s
best golfers together to test Sherwood’s stern course,
including Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas, Justin Leonard,
Hunter Mahan, Boo Weekley, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk,
Kenny Perry, Ben Curtis, Paul Casey, Fred Couples,
Luke Donald, K.J. Choi, Mike Weir and Stephen Ames.
Woods returned in his official role as host of the
tournament, participating in Sunday’s award ceremony.
The Chevron World Challenge raised over $2.5 million
for programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation. Adding to
the money raised, Steve Stricker donated $75,000 of
his winnings. Students from the Tiger Woods Learning
Center were standard bearers at the event, walking the
course on the weekend with each group.

Tiger Jam
On April 19, 2008 Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort
and Casino welcomed music superstars Van Halen,
Foundation host Tiger Woods, and thousands of fans
for Tiger Jam XI presented by AT&T. Prior to the concert,
VIP guests attended the Tiger Jam XI reception, which
featured a live and silent auction. Popular items
included an Olympic package to the Beijing games and
a private, luxury Royal Canadian Pacific rail cruise.

After the auction, guests were treated to a special
appearance by three TWLC students who took the
stage to share their greatest achievement and proudest
moment. Next, Van Halen rocked the crowd with an
amazing performance of their greatest hits.
Van Halen lead vocalist, David Lee Roth, made a
personal donation to Woods’ Foundation of $100,000.
Additionally, the Van Halens - Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang
- also contributed $100,000 in support of the charity
and its programs. The eleventh annual fundraising event
helped raise more than $1.5 million for the Tiger Woods
Foundation and other Las Vegas based charities.
Block Party
Tiger Woods hosted 700 guests on October 11, 2008
for the fourth annual Tiger Woods Learning Center
Block Party at the Grove of Anaheim. The event was
a memorable occasion, allowing the Tiger Woods
Foundation to show gratitude to the Orange County
community for their support of the TWLC in Anaheim,
and its students.
As guests arrived, they were greeted by TWLC students
for an evening that included a performance by British
singer and songwriter Seal, a three course meal served
by world renowned chef Mario Batali, a VIP reception and
live and silent auctions. The highlight of the night was a
heartfelt speech from student Eric Leos, whose life has
been changed by the TWLC.
Block Party guests also enjoyed activities on the golf
course including a morning golf exhibition hosted by
Woods, Fred Couples and Chris Riley followed by a round
of golf at Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach, CA. The
exciting concert event raised approximately $700,000
for the TWLC and its programs.
