WOODS
Tiger Woods is one of the most successful golfers in the
world. Winning fourteen Majors and 71 PGA tour events,
he became the highest paid professional athlete in 2008
with estimated earnings of $110million.
Born Eldrick Tont Woods, the sporting prodigy also studied at the
prestigious Stanford University, where he competed in Ivy League
golf tournaments.
His youth, good looks and tenacity have earned him a position as
golf’s most marketable asset, and he single-handedly brought golf
to the masses.
However, in 2009 Woods was rocked by allegations of adultery.
His stable home life, with wife Elin and two children, was potentially
ruined. He admitted to having multiple affairs, and announced he
would take an indefinite leave from professional golf in an attempt to
resurrect his marriage.
Our programme looks at the rise of Tiger Woods, the sporting
phenomenon and marketing dream. We look at the allegations that
saw him potentially ruined, and try to uncover whether he will
rise again.
