Sheridan Style Photo Album – Day 1 of 3

In this three-day class we will make a mid-sized photo album with Sheridan-style tooling on the front, basket
stamp design on the back, and laced all the way around. Materials to bring: Sheridan-style tools, your choice
of basket stamp tool, a mall, and tooling surface. Leather, lace, tooling pattern. Instructions will be provided.

How to Make a Holster – Day 1 of 2

In this three-day class Akiko will be teaching how to make a Shoulder bag with Sheridan Style tooling.
Students need to bring a tooling surface and Sheridan-style tools.

In this two-day class we will learn how to make a floral tooled paddle back holster for a Government model
1911 pistol. Materials to bring: set of checkered bevels B936, B198, B701, B702 or similar, unless you prefer
smooth bevels; Lined shader P981 or P209 or similar P212 checkered or P208 smooth; Flower Center 566 or
J820 or about 1/2" diameter flower center; Stop H907 or similar; Veiner V920 or similar; Background A104,
A104-2 or your choice; Optional F902, F976, or F941; Hair blade, or B199, or B893, or B894 for drag tool;
Mallet or maul and a stone. Stitching groover, #5 overstitch wheel, Stitching awl, #2 and #3 edge beveler,
Optional rotary tool like a dremel with a sanding drum, Utility knife, 7/16" punch, Rubber punching pad,
Optional scalpel, Stitching pliers, and Scissors.
How to Carve Dragons

In this class we will learn how to carve dragons so that each one will take on a personality of its own.
Materials to bring: tracing film, pencil, rough sand paper, leathercraft cement, carving knife with curved tip,
strop, dremel drill with small and large ball bit (1/16” bit), pointed nose tweezers, disposable lighter, small
blow torch, and a spray water bottle.

In this class we will make a book cover using Jessie’s technique of Northwest Style carving. Students need to
bring tools, calipers, and a triangle. Leather and stamping surface will be provided.
In this two-day class each student will make a custom motorcycle seat. On day 1 we will be making the
pattern, laying out the design, carving, and gluing the top piece to the seat and molding. Seat pan, shoulder,
foam, kangaroo lace, and Barge Aussie oil will be provided. Materials to bring: calipers, 1/8” hole punch,
poundo board, marble slab, leather scissors, #3 edge beveler, bone folder, slicker, lacing fid, tracing paper,
and stamping and carving tools.

In this class Roz will teach you things that you will not find in any book. Some lessons will be hands on, others
will be watch and take notes. Materials to bring: A 12” x 12” piece of 8-9-oz. tooling leather, marble tooling
surface, carving knife, # 3 scalpel, leather shears, pro pedals (large & small), #5 multi-purpose tool, Basic 6
carving tools, spray water bottle, leathercraft cement, 12” ruler, tracing film, pencil, large modeling spoon,
mallet, swivel knife, rough sand paper, and contact shelf paper.

Floral Pattern Design, Cutting Your Design, & Swivel Knife Design

In this class you will learn how to draw floral pattern s in the morning. In the afternoon you will learn how to

Ken Griffin Style Notebook

In this workshop, students will carve a design in the manner and style that Ken Griffin was famous for. If you
are not familiar with this style of work, you can get an idea by visiting

Students will need to bring their favorite floral stamping tools, swivel knife, tooling surface, mallet, tracing
tool, and whatever they like to use. The design will have a figure incorporated into it, so some basic figure
carving bevellers and matting tools would be helpful. Leather and pattern will be provided.
How to Make 3-D Rose Pins
Instructor: Roz Kaohn

In this class students will learn how to make a 3-D rose pin, which afterwards you’ll be able to make any type
of flower pin. Materials to bring: tracing film, poster board, 2 daubers, shears, awl, 1-pc 6” x 6” green pig skin
suede, 1-pc 12” x 12” red pig suede, leathercraft cement, white glue, 3 disposable lighters, pencil, 1/4" x 13”
any color ribbon, 1” pin back, stem tape roll. Special instructions: Do the following before coming to the
show: Lay out your red and green pig suede on separate pieces of wax paper, then spray both sides evenly
with starch. Blot any foam with paper towel. Let dry completely. Leather should be soft but stiff.
Realistic Facial Features

Do you have trouble getting that sparkle in your tooled eyes? You can't get the cavities out of your pearly
whites? This workshop will clear up your concerns and questions on eyes, ears, mouths and noses. Hair
textures and skin wrinkles will also be covered. If you have a specific problem, bring it to class, we'll work it
out. All leather and patterns will be provided. Tools to bring: Swivel knife, scalpel, pro petal or undercut
bevellers, modeling spoons, fine stylus, hair blades: large and small, pear shader P206 or similar, Figure
carving tools: F series 902, 918, 941, any or all of 895 to 901.

Making Leather Cases

In this class students will be taught how to make a leather case for just about anything. A step-by-step power
point presentation will show how to make wooden molds for forming leather cases as well as other methods.
