With 5.5 mm needles, work as follow :

Round 1) knit
Round 2) *k9, sl 1*, repeat from * to * until the end of round.
You will need
 1 skein of Biscotte & Cie
hand-dyed yarn - Gobelin shown
in « Jamaica » self-striping
colourway.
 Circular or DPN needles
of 4 mm and 5.5 mm (or size
needed to obtain gauge).
Gauge :
19 sts = 10 cm in stockinette st on
5.5 mm needles.
Sizes :
child (adult) : circumference of
the ribbing is 30 (34) cm and
stretch up to 42 (46) cm.
ribbing
With 4 mm needles, cast-on 80 (90) sts and join to work in the round.
Work ribbing as follow :
*p1, k1 tbl*, repeat from * to * until the end of round.
Work a total of 16 rounds of ribbing.
Repeat round 1 and 2 until you get a total lenght of 22.5 (25) cm.

Round 1 : *k7, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 2 and all even rounds : knit.
Round 3 : *k6, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 5 : *k5, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 7 : *k4, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 9 : *k3, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 11 : *k2, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 13 : *k1, k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Round 15 : *k2tog, sl1, repeat from * until the end of round.
Cut thread and pull it
through the remaining sts,
weave in the ends and
admire your work !
