Is everyone enjoying our “real” winter this
year? Snow, cold, and even more cold – thank
goodness for wooly hats and mittens!
have drop-in classes for both crochet and
knitting. Whether you’ve never held a hook or
needles before or are tackling a complicated
project, our teachers are happy to work with
you!
In case you need some new warm things to get
yourself or someone special through the last
few weeks of winter, we have some quick cowl
classes, as well as felted booties (for children or
adults) and several choices of sock technique
classes – nothing warms you up like a good pair
of hand-made socks!
Don’t miss our annual Yarn Lover’s Sale
(details on the back page) and help us move
some of our warm & wooly yarns out in order
to make room for some upcoming spring
deliveries!
If you’re looking for something a little more
artistic, we have some very talented felting
teachers willing to share their knowledge with
you. Learn to “paint” pictures with wool to
create a piece for hanging or a 2-ring binder.
Or create fuzzy-headed little chicks, spring
fairies, felted beads for jewelry or a lovely heart
sachet (perfect for thinking ahead to Mother’s
Day!)
As always, feel free to come in for help, a nice
chat, or just to sit and knit for a bit.
Happy Knitting!
Karen, Linda, Sarah & Van
For brushing up on certain techniques, or
getting help for a pattern you’re stuck on, we

Gina Spiral Cowl
You’ve finished all the pieces, and are facing
the daunting task of sewing seams and
blocking. Come learn a few techniques to make
your finishing as polished and professional as
your knitting. Please bring your current project
to be finished or swatches to practice with!
This quick & easy cowl is stunning in a selfstriping yarn like Plymouth Gina! The textured
stitch pattern and the colors work wonderfully
together to create a piece that looks far more
complex than it is to knit. Students should be
comfortable knitting and purling.
Tuesday 2/5, 2/12 & 2/26, 7:00 – 9:00
Fee: $45
Instructor: Deb Jaworowicz
Saturday 2/23, 10:00 – 12:00

Colorwork Cowl
If you’ve never knit Fair Isle before, a cowl is a
great place to start: all the knitting is done in the
round, and there’s no need to steek or figure out
any shaping. Come learn how to knit with two
colors at once and have a beautiful, functional
cowl when you’re done!
Saturday 2/9 & 2/16, 10:00 – 12:00
Fee: $35
Instructor: Deb Jaworowicz
Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief
Have you ever wanted to learn to knit easy
lace? How about adding beads to your
knitting? Using a lovely top-down shawl
pattern, The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief
by Orange Flower Yarn, students will learn
various types of increases used in lace knitting,
how to add beads to your knitting using a (tiny)
crochet hook, and how to do a picot bind off.
Students should be comfortable knitting and
purling on a circular needle (due to the number
of stitches, straight needles are not
recommended).
Tuesday 2/12, 2/26 & 3/12, 7:00 – 9:00
Fee: $45
Instructor: Ron Tyler
Felted Booties
Using a Fiber Trends pattern, we will discover
the fun of knitting super-thick yarn on superthick needles and watching the resulting booties
shrink in the washing machine to warm the toes
of someone you love--or maybe you? Students
should be comfortable knitting and purling.
Saturday 2/23, 3/2 & 3/9, 2:00 – 4:00
Fee: $45
Instructor: Marcia Weinert
Plain Vanilla Socks
Coniferous Cowl
If you’ve never made socks before and want to
learn without using DPNs, this class is for you.
Learn how to knit a basic sock on either two
circulars or magic loop. Students should be
comfortable knitting and purling, but do not
need prior experience knitting in the round.
The weather may be warming up, but it can still
be a bit on the chilly side. Knit this long cowl
out of a couple of skeins of Rowan
Summerspun – or any other DK weight yarn –
to keep you warm on cool evenings. Students
should be comfortable knitting and purling.
Saturday 3/2, 3/9 & 3/16, 10:00 – 12:00
Fee: $45
Instructor: Deb Jaworowicz
Saturday 3/23, 10:00 – 12:00
Fee: $25
Instructor: Patti Tyler
Personal Footprints
Students will learn to make these uniquely
constructed socks, starting with a “sock
footprint” and ending with an afterthought leg!
It’s a new twist on an old technique, and could
become your new favorite way to knit socks.
Personal Footprint socks are elegantly simple –
completely knit in the round with no stitches to
pick up and replaceable heels and toes – and fit
the wearer perfectly. Students should be
comfortable knitting in the round. Prior sock
knitting experience is helpful but not necessary.
Students must have their own copy of Personal
Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters by Cat
Bordhi; this book is available for purchase at
the shop.
Tuesday 4/9, 4/16 & 4/23, 7:00 – 9:00
Fee: $45
Instructor: Deb Jaworowicz
