How to use this induction planner
This induction planner is a Word document that may be used to determine the content of
induction and the delivery methods appropriate for newly appointed Community Participation
Officers.

Supervisors are encouraged to complete administrative requirements prior to the
employee’s arrival in the workplace.
Orientation, introductions and local information provide reassurance and help generate
enthusiasm for induction.
Shaded content indicates the mandatory induction program. Training must be delivered
in a suitable format for the employee, not necessarily using the online courses.
Asking an experienced team member to be the inductee’s mentor and support them
through their first weeks in the workplace is strongly recommended.
Subject matter
- may be included or deleted (other than mandatory programs) as appropriate for the
specific role
- where indicated add or specify information and training necessary to the role
Delivery method(s)
- to cater for diverse learning preferences and abilities, a range of delivery methods
are suggested
- select one or more delivery methods to facilitate understanding
Reasonable adjustment
- delivery should enable access for people with disability where applicable
- if individuals require any adjustments to delivery of induction materials, this should be
noted on the planner
Suggested timeframe
- timeframes given are suggestions only and for non-mandated content may be
adapted to the needs of the individual and the workplace
- a + sign indicates that the timeframe is flexible — quality induction is expected to
take several months
Who
- certain training is best provided by the supervisor or the mentor — the position
responsible can be recorded in this column
record other providers where appropriate
Date
- dates to be inserted when the responsible officer has confirmed the new employee’s
understanding
Signatures
- supervisor and new employee to sign when planned induction is completed and
understanding has been confirmed
A copy of the completed and signed planner is to be filed in the employee’s personnel file
and a copy provided for the new employee. It is suggested that inductees are asked to
complete an evaluation of their induction upon completion. An example questionnaire is
provided in the Induction Guidelines. Feedback will inform updates to local induction to
ensure consistent quality and appropriate delivery.
