Maximizing Your Online Presence
An interactive workshop for small business owners and financial advisors who’re ready to catch the social
media wave
Social media tools such as blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn can help you gain referrals, attract
prospective clients, and connect in new ways with existing clients. But creating or expanding an online presence
that will grow your business requires clear objectives and a plan that delivers on those objectives. This 2.5 hour
interactive class will focus on online cross-linking and leveraging strategies that will really boost your online
presence.
Led by Impact Communications' president and CEO Marie Swift, one of the best-known marketing consultants
in the financial services industry, you will take a deeper dive into how to use Web 2.0 and social media to your
advantage. You’ll explore the more advanced features of LinkedIn, learn how to create blog content that attracts
attention, and explore options for setting up your own private social media site.
Swift will show you how to dissect a news release and use an online distribution service to generate Google
Juice and credibility, all in one fell swoop. She’ll share her favorite resources, including best ways to create
multi-media clips, how to monitor and respond to what’s being said about you online, and how to harness the
power of your varied digital assets. She’ll share what other leading practitioners and small business owners are
doing now so that you can continue to build social glue and enhance your reputation—both online and in the
physical realm.
Classroom style presentation with audience participation and use of Swift’s proprietary Diagnostic Tool that
will not only reveal the gaps in your online strategy but will help you prioritize where you spend your time and
money. Leave with a clear action plan and checklist of Best Practices to consider implementing over time.
Appropriate for small business owners such as attorneys, accountants, financial planners, and other personal
service providers. Limited to 175 participants.

Okay, it all sounds good in theory—using blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and online newswire
services to build buzz about you and your company—but you’re a busy professional with limited resources.
Who has the time and energy to set up a blog, create multi-media clips and start cross-promoting on Twitter and
LinkedIn?
Now YOU do!
Spend the afternoon with marketing expert Marie Swift and you’ll walk away—
not only with newfound knowledge and insights—but with a new foundation for
building your online presence.
You will actually roll-up-your sleeves to:





Build a blog
Set up a Twitter account
Record your first video clip
Create your first audio file
Begin cross promoting online
You’ll see how to set up your own Social Media Dashboard and program Tweets, LinkedIn status updates and
Facebook posts all in one quick and easy process.
You can bring your own laptop and tap into the university’s wi-fi connection or use one of the PCs in the
computer lab.
Swift will show the class how to set-up their own blog and Twitter accounts, providing step-by-step instructions
and supplying a handy reference sheet for those who need more time completing the tasks.
Attendees will break into teams and record their first audio and video clips, using template scripts that Swift
provides and attendees customize during the boot camp work time.
You’ll learn how to upload and post the video and audio files to your blog and begin cross-promoting on your
Twitter, Facebook and/or LinkedIn profiles using a Social Media Dash Board, which will help you monitor your
online presence, interact more efficiently with your select online communities and schedule updates with
essential information in advance.
You’ll learn how to shorten long links and create short status updates and Tweets that capture attention.
