Welcome to this Pre-Launch Training for the All-New Ford Mustang.
This training contains everything you need to know to begin actively selling this exciting new car.
The objectives of this training are to:

All-New Ford Mustang
I
n 2014 the Ford Mustang celebrates 50 years of production. To mark this celebration the All-New Ford
Mustang is being launched for the first time as a global car. This means that the highly acclaimed car will be
officially available in Europe for the first time.
The All-New Ford Mustang has a fresh and modern design that will appeal to a range of customers, from
enthusiasts who have always wanted to own a Ford Mustang, to drivers of other sports cars who aspire to have
an iconic car as part of their collection. The Ford Mustang will sell in limited numbers and will give its owners
exclusivity.
The All-New Ford Mustang will strengthen the Ford brand overall because it will be bought by customers who
would not usually consider a Ford. It will create a halo effect that will attract customers to Ford products who
want to be associated with what the Ford Mustang represents. This will result in more customers considering
and then buying a Ford.

All-New Ford Mustang
The All-New Ford Mustang will be available as both a Fastback and a Convertible; both are designed to
accommodate up to 4 people in comfort. This exciting new car will boast a range of features that is expected
of a thoroughbred sports car: Track Apps, Launch Control, and Electronic Line-Lock. Inside the cabin particular
attention has been paid to ensure the occupants gain a premium quality and sporty experience.
Two powerful engines are available for the All-New Ford Mustang; a 5.0 litre Ti-VCT V8, or a powerful but
more economical 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine. Both engines come with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic
gearbox.

The Launch
Process
The REVEAL
The six-city reveal of the Ford Mustang spanned
the globe from the Ford headquarters in
Dearborn, through New York City, Los Angeles,
Shanghai, Sydney, and to the European Ford ‘Go
Further’ event in Barcelona. All the reveal events
took place on the same date of 5th December
2013, a Mustang day to remember.
This was the start of a well-planned reveal and
pre-sell strategy.
BUILD UP
Following the reveal there were further high
profile activities used to build momentum and
excitement leading up to the European launch
in March 2015.

In a repeat of its original launch 50 years ago engineers
took apart a new Ford Mustang and re-built it at the top of
the Empire State Building!
In this pre-launch training you will find a number of QR
codes. Scan these special Mustang QR codes using a
smartphone and QR code-scanning application. You will
then be taken to an exciting selection of Mustang media.

Ford CEO Mark Fields announced that during the
European Champions League Final Ford would be

Champions
League Final
In the build up to the Champions League Final a
fully integrated promotional campaign was put
into action.
Ford.com made content available that could
be shared using social media, banner adverts
were placed online and on the home page
of Ford websites across Europe. Customers
could register their interest to pre-order a New
Mustang.
On the Champions League Final day itself, a
Mustang was displayed in the Fan Festival
Village.
The Champions League trophy was transported
from the Fan Festival to the Stadium in a new
Ford Mustang with Police outriders.

all 500 cars were taken in 30 seconds!

by 26 million people.

Powertrain
The All-New Ford Mustang is available with a
choice of two petrol engines: a powerful 2.3
litre EcoBoost and a high performance 5.0 litre
Ti-VCT V8.

2.3 litre EcoBoost
The 2.3 litre engine uses the EcoBoost
technologies of direct injection, turbo-charging
and twin-independent variable cam timing to
deliver an outstanding combination of power,
economy and low CO2. The engine has been
developed to deliver excellent power and
torque across a wide rev range for improved
performance and efficiency.

5.0 litre Ti-VCT V8
The 5.0 litre quad cam 32 valve V8 engine
delivers the sound and performance that is
expected of a Ford Mustang. The powerful
engine produces large amounts of torque whilst
maximising fuel efficiency and minimising
emissions. An induction sound tube transfers
the classic V8 soundtrack straight from under
the bonnet into the cabin for increased driver
enjoyment.

optional 6-speed SelectShift automatic. The
SelectShift transmission can be used as a
traditional automatic or manually controlled

Headlamps
High Intensity Discharge headlamps are fitted
as standard to the All-New Ford Mustang. They
produce a bright natural light for improved
vision.
The Auto headlamp feature measures the
ambient light and automatically turns the
headlights on when the light level lowers to a
pre-determined level.

From the side the All-New Ford Mustang
has a very sleek profile with a steeply sloped
windscreen and sloped rear glass that creates
a “Fastback” style. The All-New Mustang has a
low roofline, and sculpted body sides add to its
sharp, muscular look.

Convertible
Key Convertible differences over the Fastback include:

A belt-line flows seamlessly around the car
enhancing the uncluttered look

Unique quarter panels with a flatter top surface
neatly integrate with the roofline when lowered

The boot lid has a high trailing edge with an
integrated high mounted brake light
Convertible Roof
A three layer cloth roof creates a quiet interior when
the roof is up. When the roof is lowered it folds flush
with the boot for a smooth uncluttered design. The
roof can be quickly opened or closed at speeds of
up to 5kph: lowering between 7 and 10 seconds, and
raising between 9 and 12 seconds.

Safety
The All-New Ford Mustang will provide outstanding levels of safety. Innovative safety technologies include a
new Electronic Stability Control (ESC) module.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Electronic Stability Control is fitted to the All-New Ford Mustang as standard. It constantly monitors for any
loss of traction. If the system detects sudden changes in steering, braking or vehicle attitude, automatic
adjustments are made to prevent skidding and improve car control. The ESC features include:
•
Electronic brake assist (Eba)
The Emergency Brake Assist function is controlled electronically by the ESC system. If the system
senses an emergency braking situation and the driver is not applying enough pressure for maximum
braking, the ESC system builds up the remaining brake pressure to achieve best possible braking.
•
Electronic brake prefill (Ebp)
When the car recognises an emergency braking situation such as quickly closing the throttle, ESC precharges the brake system. This closes any air gap between brake pads and discs and provides a faster
braking response, helping to reduce the car’s braking distance.
•
Hill Start Assist (hsa)
Hill Start Assist uses the brake system to prevent the car from rolling back when pulling away from
stationary on a hill. HSA can be operated either manually or automatically.

The All-New Ford Mustang has a number of distinctive design cues ensuring it is easily
identifiable as a Mustang. Key rear design features include:

LED tail lamps have a tri-bar design that is a traditional Ford Mustang design cue

A ‘Pony’ logo is centrally located on the EcoBoost model, and a ‘GT’ on the V8 model
•
Dual exhaust outlets are mounted on either side of the diffuser
•
Wide rear wheel arches give a powerful and sporty stance

The boot has a low lift-over height for ease of usability

Rear-View Camera
On engaging reverse gear, the Rear-View Camera automatically displays a
view from the rear of the car in the centre console’s 8” touch screen. The
driver can view objects behind the car as well as see its projected path on
the display.
Parking Sensors
Optional ultrasonic parking sensors can be chosen to aid ease of parking.

Stowage
The practical large boot has room for two golf
bags even when fitted with the subwoofer of
the premium sound system. The rear seats can
also be folded to provide extra space.

Track Apps
Track Apps enable owners to select a number of useful and fun performance functions. They include an
Accelerometer displaying the car’s G-forces, an Acceleration Timer, and a Brake Performance function.

Electronic
Line-Lock
Electronic Line-Lock is a Ford first, available
only on the Mustang Fastback GT. Electronic
Line-Lock is primarily designed for use off road
on a race track. The system enables the front
brakes to hold the car whilst the driver spins the
rear wheels to warm the tyres, a technique often
used for drag racing.

Dynamics
For the first time the All-New Ford Mustang has a fully independent rear suspension, and has a double
ball-joint McPherson front suspension. The suspension components and geometry have been specifically
tuned on the All-New Ford Mustang to improve handling, braking and ride quality, providing a dynamic and
engaging driving experience.

Brakes
The brakes on the All-New Ford Mustang deliver outstanding performance. The 2.3 litre EcoBoost is fitted with
lightweight 4-piston aluminium front callipers, large front brake discs, and brake pads tuned to resist brake fade under
hard use. The 5.0 litre V8 is fitted with the renowned Brembo 6-piston aluminium front callipers, larger front brake discs,
and a cooling scoop to further improve braking performance.

Low levels of engine, road and wind noise enhance the interior comfort for all occupants of the All-New Ford Mustang.

Design – Interior
The All-New Ford Mustang’s interior delivers exceptional fit and finish with a symmetrical design, iconic
double brow dash, and two large analogue gauges for a premium and sporty look. Features include:
Instrument Panel and Cluster
The instrument panel and twin gauge cluster
provide a sporty cockpit look. Chrome detailing,
soft touch controls and high quality stitching add
detail to the premium look and feel.
Centre Stack
The easily accessible centre stack flows
seamlessly towards the gearstick incorporating
the 8” Multi-Function Display, climate and audio
controls. Soft touch materials and chrome
detailing improve the quality and luxury feel.

Centre Console
The high quality centre console incorporates a media hub and cup holders covered by
a fully wrapped armrest with premium contrast stitching. The electronically lockable
centre armrest provides added security, particularly for the Mustang Convertible.
Steering Wheel
A stylish 3-spoke leather steering wheel with chrome detailing is finished with a large
central ‘Pony’ emblem that controls a powerful dual-tone horn. The steering wheel can
be adjusted for both reach and rake to help improve driver comfort.

improved handling and car control.

Ambient Lighting
Multi-colour ambient lighting enables customers to
choose between seven different colours that best suit
their mood, adding to the premium appearance of
the interior at night.
The light is produced from the cluster gauges, door
sill plates, door map pockets, console cup holders
and front foot-wells.
Seats
The All-New Ford Mustang is a four seat vehicle
offering excellent support and comfort. The standard
front seats are 6-way electrically adjustable with
a memory feature. Optional climate control seats
actively blow hot and cool air through the seats for
ultimate comfort.
Recaro seats for driver and passenger that provide
excellent support when cornering are available as an
option on the Mustang Fastback.

Ford SYNC 2 with Voice Control
and Touchscreen
Ford SYNC 2 with Voice Control and Touchscreen allows drivers to control their phone, navigation,
entertainment and climate control systems by voice command or using a large colour touch screen. This
enables hands free control of the cabin environment.
The 8” colour Multi-Function Display is a user-friendly touch screen, enabling customers to easily select and
adjust features with a simple touch of the screen.
Another feature of the system is 3D Navigation with building rendering and Michelin Guide Points of Interest
(POIs).
Automatic
Paddle Shift
SelectShift automatics have gearshift paddles
that are fixed to the steering wheel enabling
the driver to easily move through the gears with
minimal hand movement.

Ford Emergency Assistance
Ford SYNC includes Ford Emergency Assistance which can automatically call the emergency
services in the event of an accident. Emergency Assistance is designed to help occupants
contact the emergency operators directly with key information such as GPS coordinates.

Ford MyKey technology allows owners to
program individual keys to particular settings
that promote good driving habits such as
increasing seat belt use, limiting vehicle top
speeds as well as audio volume, and disabling
Track Apps.
