MALIBU, CA, June 3, 2003 Ultimate Sound Bank has announced the release of
their all-new Plugsound 1.8 family of sample libraries. The latest in the awardwinning Plugsound line, the all-new version 1.8 features a new, user-friendly
graphical interface as well as a built-in reverb function. The Plugsound 1.8 line
consists of six distinct volumes; “Keyboards,” “Fretted Instruments,” “Drums &
Percussion,” “Hip Hop Toolkit,” “Synth Collection,” and “Global Plugsound.”
Each library is compatible with Macintosh and Windows-based PC, and can be
purchased individually for $99 or as a specially priced six volume box set for just
$399. Plugsound is distributed in N. America exclusively by ILIO
(www.ilio.com).
Volume One in the collection, “Keyboards,” features acoustic pianos in classical,
jazz and pop styles as well as alternative sounds such as honky-tonk and
detuned. The library also features a best-of selection of famous “suitcase-style”
electric pianos, allowing users to incorporate these “rare” instruments into their
repertoire. The collection is rounded out by a healthy selection of clavinets,
electric organs and synth-based keyboard sounds, to ensure the perfect arsenal of
keyboard sounds for any composer.
Plugsound Volume Two, entitled “Fretted Instruments,” is a comprehensive
collection of acoustic and electric guitar samples. The collection covers the entire
history of the guitar, from classical nylon strings and Guild™ and Martin™
guitars, to Gibsons™ and distorted Strats as well as basses. “Fretted
Instruments” also contains unique instruments such as world guitars, baglamas,
jubus and lutes.

“Drums and Percussion,” the third volume in the series, is a collection of 6,000
drum sounds sorted into various styles. A wide selection of drum sounds is
offered, including jazz, natural, raw and treatment kits. The instruments are
velocity switched, providing an authentic feel and sound. “Drums & Percussion”
is an excellent resource for hard-to-find drum kits, electronic kits, GM maps and
dynamic percussion sounds.
“Hip Hop Toolkit” is Volume Four in the Plugsound 1.8 family. A collection of
loops, kits and multi-sampled instruments created by Hip Hop and R 'n' B artists,
“Hip Hop Toolkit” contains construction kits of the latest styles, drum loops
sorted by tempo, instrument phrase menus, single phrase patches, R 'n' B style
drum kits and more. The Toolkit is a complete package for all modern pop and
dance styles, as well as cutting edge tracks.
Plugsound Volume Five, “Synth Collection,” contains over 600 MB of modern
and retro synth sounds. They consist of real synths and a large range of essential
machines, from extensive workstations to specialized sound modules. The
collection also contains stacks, flute-style leads, voices, tines & bells, basses, pads,
sweeps, keyboard styles and more.
“Global Plugsound” is the sixth and final entry in the Plugsound 1.8 series.
Designed to function as an ultimate General MIDI (GM) module, the collection
features instrument categories such as world, orchestral, basses, guitars,
keyboards, drums and percussion in GM layouts. “Global Plugsound” provides
composers with rich sound quality, with full-length multi-samples recorded live
by top industry professionals.
The Plugsound Box Set is a specially-priced collection that groups all six
Plugsound volumes into one value-priced set containing a total of 3.56 GB of
