Day 2: Fishing
6am – Breakfast. Grab a quick breakfast before we head out for our day of fishing.
6:30am – Walleye Fishing. Rice Lake area lakes are noted for musky, walleye, crappie, bass and bluegill. The
best way to enjoy the area’s outstanding fishing is getting out when the fish are biting—and that means being on
the water early. The most consistent fishing year-round comes from the area’s bluegill and crappie populations.
Musky fishing on area lakes is very good. Bass fishing in the area is exceptional—both largemouth and smallmouth
populations are strong. But walleye probably bring more anglers to the Rice Lake area than any other fish species—
and for good reason: the fishing is excellent, with large numbers of trophy-sized fish. We’ll fish for walleye this
morning.
Noon – Lunch. We’ll head back to the dock and go grab lunch.
Afternoon – Bass Fishing. For bass fishing action, you can’t beat
Rice Lake. Both largemouth and smallmouth bass are numerous on
area lakes. The best thing about bass is their willingness to bite even
during the middle of the day—which makes them the perfect fish for
us to target this afternoon.
6pm – Dinner. After a full day of casting, treat yourself to a nice
dinner.
7pm – Movie. You’ll find a Cineplex right in Rice Lake showing firstrun films.
Day 3: Biking
8am – Breakfast. After breakfast, where a picnic lunch for today’s mountain biking trip.
9am – Head to the Blue Hills Trail System. Rice Lake offers exceptional biking on the 20-mile Blue Hills Trail
System. Located just east of Rice Lake, the rolling terrain and untouched beauty of the Blue Hills offers an
unforgettable trail experience. Our goal is to ride 10 miles before we stop for lunch.

Noon – Lunch. Pick a scenic spot and enjoy a picnic
lunch.
Afternoon – Back to the Trails. We’ll ride the rest of
the trail system this afternoon.
6pm – Dinner. Nothing whets your appetite like a
day of mountain biking.
7pm – Live Theatre. We’ll catch a live production

Day 4: Hiking
8am – Breakfast.
9am – Head to the Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary. The trails of the Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary is a favorite with
hikers and birdwatchers. Located in nearby Sarona, the Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary is an environmental learning
community with over 450 acres of wooded glacial hills, mature maples, groves of ancient white pines, meadows of
grasses and wildflowers and black spruce and tamarack bogs. Two small lakes provide a home for a wide variety of
other plants and animals.
Noon – Lunch in Rice Lake.
1pm – Head to the Ice Age Trail. Located just north of Rice Lake,
the Ice Age Trail offers scenic hiking through a landscape of
geological formations carved by ancient glaciers. It’s a great place
for a hike.
6pm – Dinner.
7pm – Bowling. Rand’s Bowling Lanes and Lounge is the perfect
place to knock down some pins and have a good time.
Day 5: Golf
8am – Breakfast.
9am – Head to Turtleback Golf Course. The Rice Lake area offers
seven distinctive courses offering quality play and affordable
greens fees. We’ll golf Turtleback, a Golf Digest 4 1/2 star rated
golf course. Four sites of large, immaculate tees on each hole offer
options for players of all abilities.
Noon – Lunch in Rice Lake.
1pm –Washburn County Railroad Museum. A short drive north of
Rice Lake takes you to the Washburn County Railroad Museum.
This former Chicago & Northwestern Railway depot has been
transformed into a museum packed with artifacts and memorabilia
of railroad history.
5pm – Dinner in Rice Lake.
7pm – Movie. Or, if you’re tired after the day’s activities, make it an
early night and head back to your lodging to rest up for tomorrow’s
fun.
9am – Breakfast.

Day 6: Museums and Shopping
10am – Pioneer Village Museum. Not far from Rice Lake, you’ll
find a place where you can step back in time. Stroll through an
early pioneer village featuring 28 historic Barron County buildings,
including the depot, church, jail, school and farmstead.
Noon – Lunch in Rice Lake.
1pm - Museum of Woodcarving. It is the largest collection of
woodcarvings in the world created by one man—100 life-sized
carvings and 400 miniatures. Located in Shell Lake.
2pm – Tour the Tommy G. Thompson’s State Fish Hatchery.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource’s Spooner Fish
Hatchery is the largest of its kind in the state. The hatchery’s 46
rearing ponds produce both walleye and musky. More musky are
produced in this hatchery than anywhere else in the world!
3pm – Shopping. Soak in the small-town charm as you explore in
Rice Lake. You’ll find shops, galleries and retailers of every size
and variety.
Day 7: Head Home – See You Again in Rice Lake!
7pm – Dinner. Have a relaxing dinner as you enjoy your last
evening in Rice Lake.
