It shall be unlawful to discharge any firearm within the following areas of the Reservoir Project Area:

It shall be unlawful to hunt deer within the Reservoir
Project Area, except in the following instances:

a.
any land area of Madison County south of
Mississippi State Highway 43 and north of Spillway Road;
a. deer may be hunted upon District lands expressly leased
for hunting purposes;
b.
any area of Hinds, Madison and Rankin
Counties lying south of and within one-quar ter mile of the main dam
and Spillway Road;
c.
any area within one-quarter mile of any commer
cial or residential development;
b. deer may be hunted with bow and arrow or primitive
weapons on District lands open to hunting generally, except that no
hunting of deer with primitive firearm weapons shall be permitted in
any area of Hinds, Madison and Rankin Counties lying south of the
main dam and Spillway Road.
TO LENA
The running of dogs across District land during a season when deer
hunting with dogs is permitted shall not of itself be deemed the hunting
of deer.
(3)
The District reserves the right to close any area any and all
hunting at any time, upon the posting of reasonable notice said effect. It shall be
unlawful to hunt in any area closed to hunting hereunder.
(4)
It shall be unlawful to hunt within the following areas of the
Reservoir Project Area:
a.
any land area of Madison County south
Mississippi State Highway 43 and north of Spillway Road, except with
bow and arrow on any land area of Madison County north or east of
Lost Rabbit;
b.
any area of Hinds, Madison and Rankin
Counties lying south of and within one-quarter mile of the main dam
and Spillway road, except with bow and arrow;
c.
on that portion of the Reservoir project Area
located east of a line running between the emergency spillway of the
main dam on Spillway Road in Rankin County of the south, and
Fannin Landing Boat Ramp on Fannin Landing Circle in Rankin
County on the north, encompassing Pelahatchie Bay and its shoreline
and that portion of Pelahatchie Creek that lie within the Reservoir
Project Area except with bow and arrow on any land area north of
Spillway Road and east of Cliftview and south of Pelahatchie Creek
and the area east of Old Highway 471.
d.
any area within one-quarter mile of commercial
or residential development.
(5)
It shall be unlawful to hunt hogs within the Reservoir
Project Area except in those areas and during those periods that deer may lawfully be hunted.
6)
Except with respect to activities prohibited or restricted
hereunder within the Reservoir Project Area, the provisions of this Paragraph B
shall in no way alter, affect or amend any Rules or Regulations relating to hunting
promulgated from time to time by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife,
Fisheries, and Parks and to the extent of any conflict, those regulations shall
control except in the case of activities prohibited or restricted hereunder.
C.
Each violation of these regulations shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00).

(1)
It shall be unlawful to hunt quail, migratory game birds,
squirrel and rabbit within the Reservoir Project Area except with shotguns and in
conformity with the regulations and rulesprescribed by law and by the Mississippi
Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. It shall be unlawful to use slugs,
buckshot and any shotgun load heavier than number four within the Reservoir
Project Area; provided that any lawful non-toxic shot approved by the
U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service may be used for hunting waterfowl
only.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that this amendment shall be filed with the Secretary of
State under the Administrative Procedures Act, and shall take effect as an emergency regulation from and after September 12, 1997, through January 12, 1998,
due to potential threat health, safety and welfare, and shall be considered for
finalpermanent regulation at a meeting of Board of Directors of Pearl River Valley
Water Supply District to be held at 9:30 a.m. on November 14 1997, at the
administrative offices of the District at 115 Madison Landing Circle in Madison
County, Mississippi; that the proposed amendment shall be mailed to all who
have made timely request for advance notice of rule making procedures, and
shall be available for public inspection and copying. Persons desiring to comment
on proposed amendment may submit written comments to the Assistant
Secretary of the District prior to 9:00 a.m. on November 14, 1997.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the amendment, as finally adopted, shall
be published in a daily newspaper of statewide circulation and in a newspaper of
general circulation in each of the counties comprising the District, as provided by
law, and filed with the Secretary of State at least 30 days prior to their respective
effective dates.
NOTE: Both the Pearl River Waterfowl Refuge and Wildlife Management Area
are managed by the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (DWF&P). Only
primitive weapons, bow and arrow may be used. Check with the DWF&P for any
additional regulations in these two areas.
