1 ENVIRONMENTS
1.1 Server
Hardware
① CPU Core2 Duo 2.2G
② Memory 2G
③ HDD 120G free capacity (The capacity of the installation disk shall
be larger than 120G, strongly recommend that do not install to Disk
C)
④ 1000M Ethernet dual network cards
Software
① Microsoft Windows 2003 Server SP2, 4G or higher version,
② Internet Explorer 6.0
2 INSTALLATION
2.1 Server Installation
Double click the DSSServer.exe program; you can go to the following installation interface. See
Figure 2-1.

Click the Next button; you can see an interface is shown as in Figure 2-2. System default path is
C:\Program Files\DSS.
Here you can click Change button to modify the installation directory.
Please click the Next button to continue.

Now system goes to the following interface. Here you can se the installation information.
Please click the Next button to continue. See Figure 2-3.

During the installation, you can see an interface is shown as in Figure 2-4.

Important
 You may see a dialogue box asking you to install the Encryption watchdog drive. For the
license version, you need to click the OK button to install now. For the general user, you can
click the No button to skip this step.
 You can also go to the installation directory to run the setup file to install manually.
After the installation, system goes to the setup interface. See Figure 2-5.
You can click the Finish button directly to complete the setup.
Usually we recommend you refer the following sheet to set.

Note
Once you check the box here, the DSS will
automatically starts when system boots up
each time.
Once you check the box here, the system
will hide the five control interfaces (The five
running DOS windows in the interface.)
Please input a valid DSS server IP here.
Such as :10.24.0.62
If you are in the Internet and using a server
in a LAN, you need to input a valid DMZ IP
address.
CMS working port. The default value is
9000.
Check the box here you can disable the
DMS working port.
Please input the listening port here.
RTSP port of the MTS. The default value is
9100.
RTP port of the MTS. The default value
ranges from 10000 到 30000.
Please note the port value shall be equal to
or more than the 2000.
The default value is 1400BYTE. For the
user in the LAN, we recommend 1400. For
the narrow bandwidth, the value is usually
500.
Check the box here to disable the MTS
service.
RTSP port of the SS. The default value is
9320.
Here you can input the RTP range. The
default value is 30000. Please note it shall
be more than the RTP port of the MTS.
There are two options: UDP/TCP.
Please select the UDP when you bandwidth
is good. It has the higher transmission.

Please select the TCP in narrow bandwidth;
it has the higher video quality.
The default setup is 30 minutes. System
saves recorded video as a file after 30
minutes recording.
Here you can select the medium to save
the record files. Please set the mapping
properly and make sure you have created
the path (or you can use the root directory
directly). You can click the Add/Delete
button to modify.
We recommend you to delete the default
path and create self-defined storage path
and then allocate the general record disk
space and the alarm record disk space.
You can add several storage path if
necessary.
Check the box here to disable the SS
service.
The RTP port of the VMS. The default value
ranges from 50001 to 65534. The port
value shall be more than 2000.
It has two options: TCP/UDP.

Check the box here to disable the VMS
service.
The default listening port value is 9500.
The default listening port value is 9600.
Click the Finish button to complete the installation. You can see a dialogue box shown as in
Figure 2-6
The above setup will become activated when the DSS boots up the next time.

Click the OK button, you can see the following dialogue box,. Please click the Yes button to
initialize the database now. See Figure 2-7.

After the database initialization, you can see the following interface. See Figure 2-8.

Please click the Finish button to complete the whole installation.

You can see the system pops up the following dialogue box. Please click the Yes button to start
the DSS server now, or you can click the No button to exit. See Figure 2-9.

3 Quick Start Guide
3.1 Preparations
Before you log in, please make sure:





PC and encode device connection is right.
Storage media is working properly and has completed the HDD synchronization.
DSS server and encode device network connection is O.K.
DSS service has booted up.
There is no other software or management platform in the encode device.
3.2 Setup
You can follow the steps listed below to set.
 Double click the client manager shortcut icon in the desktop; you can go to the login
interface.
 Input the default user name (system) and password (123456), and then input the
authentication code to login.
Important
Please install plug-in if it is your fist time to use the manager client-end. You need to
download and install the plug-in manually in the main interface if the plug-in has updated.
You can see the corresponding dialogue box if you have not install the plug-in.
 Please go to the Organization interface to create the organization structure.
 Go to the Right Management interface to create the manager group and the operator group.
 Go to the User Management interface to create the manage account and operator account
and then allocate to the corresponding group.
 Create the operator in the User Management interface.
 Go to the Device Management interface to add the device and then grant the device to the
corresponding group in the Right Management interface.
 Go to the CSP Management interface to create the center storage plan.
Now you can use the newly created operator account to login the DSS operator client-end to
view the video.
