SMITHVILLE (Tenn.) REVIEW, W E D N E S DAY, F E B RU A RY 27, 2013 — 9-A
Enjoying our feathered friends
February has come and
almost gone with its high
winds, heavy rains, sleet and
one big snow which fell
during the night and was almost gone by early afternoon.
I know one thing, we
have had hundreds of doves,
purple, yellow and house
finches plus the cardinals,
blue jays, three sizes of
woodpeckers, tit mouse, and
a few blackbirds.
These birds really know
how to eat the sunflower
seed. Forty pounds of seeds
does well to last three days.
We are happy to feed our
feathered friends.
The weatherman predicts
rain and maybe snow. It is
still winter, but spring is just
around the corner.
I am very thankful for our
four seasons. Everyone can
pick which they prefer, I
love something about each
one. Spring is so nice, it is a
rebirth and the flowers are
beautiful.
Bro. Donald Owens of
Lebanon keeps us informed
about Bro. W.L. Baker, who
is 104 and is improving
from pneumonia. We send
special get-well wishes go
to Bro. Baker. Keep him in

Visitors in the home of
Bobby and Mary Joines
were Marvin and Darline
Clark of Rock Island, Christine Rohner of Smithville,
Linda Bush, Helen Burt,
Elaine Garrison, Michael
and Tammy Crook, Alicia
and Jordan of the Dry Creek
Valley.
I’m glad to report that
Bobby and Mary are doing
okay. Keep them in your
prayers.
Also remember Claire
Waggoner, a sweet young
seventh grader at DeKalb
Middle School, who will be
having surgery on March 12
to correct a hole in her
eardrum.
Claire is the granddaughter of my beautician, Brenda
Bates. Special prayers and
wishes for a successful surgery go out to this young
lady.
Congratulations go to a
wonderful young lady and
dear friend, Brenda Parker,
of Murfreesboro. She has
been on the faculty at Middle Tennessee State University for 30 years and will be
retiring this year.
She is the wife of our
own Jerry Parker, and they
have two good sons, Robert
and David, both of whom
became Eagle Scouts and
engineering school graduates. We who live in the Dry
Creek Valley love the Parker
family and send our best
wishes to them.
Wanda Cripps, Angela
Royalty, Brody and Brayden, all of Mt. Juliet, Jerald
and Lisa Cripps of Liberty
and Jordan Cripps and
Christian of Dry Creek were
the Sunday dinner guests at
the home of Jim Cripps,
Dwight Cripps and Joe
Ayers.
Many people who go to
their jobs early in the morning stop by the Cloverleaf
Restaurant in Liberty for a
good breakfast. Jerald
Cripps reports that the people there are friendly and
there is a welcoming atmosphere, and good food for
workers and friends, which
starts their work day off
Hello March winds
We had a few good windy
days last week which sounded like March knocking on
the door. This is not Leap
Year so does that mean that
those born on leap year do
not celebrate? I know one
person born on Leap Year---Gladys Simpson at the Webb
House. So, happy birthday

any day this week, Gladys, a
real sweet lady.
I've lost my March birthday list so I will try to find it
by next week.
Sympathy to the family of
Michael Jennings. Michael
was the son of Sam Jennings.
I remember him as a real
right.
Gary and Tammye
Whitaker of Lebanon visited
Tom and Georgia Cripps
during the recent illness of
Tammye’s father Tom
Cripps on Dismal Road.
Jerald and Lisa Cripps
and Christian visited Tom
and Georgia Cripps this
week. Tom is feeling better
and is beginning to want
some food and liquids.
We are happy to report
good news when people
have had an extended illness. Please remember them
in your prayers.
Remember our troops and
their families.

since its inception.
Her designs include a gingerbread house, inspired by a
real one she decorated, a
snowman in a red scarf and
jaunty top hat, and this year,
a Santa with bright blue eyes.
These drawings, along with
others created by patients
