SYNOD OF BISHOPS: The Synod of Bishops continues in Rome with Cardinal
Nichols representing the bishops of England & Wales. For two weeks it will be
addressing the subject of Marriage, Family Life and Sexuality and the challenges
facing them in today's world. A fuller synod with more bishops will resume the
deliberations next year. Please keep Pope Francis and the bishops in your
prayers. The subject concerns all of us.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL : Wednesday 15th October, 7.30pm in
St Peter's Parish Lounge.
FAMILY FAST DAY COLLECTION: The harvest collection for CAFOD remains
open for the rest of the month. Please use one of the green envelopes
provided at the back of the church.
QUIET EVENING: An ecumenical evening of Quiet Prayer and Reflection in St
Peter's Church, Tuesday 14th October 7.30 - 9.00pm. All are welcome. Further

DAY OF RECOLLECTION: Saturday 8th November 10.00am till 3.30pm, St
Peter's Parish Centre. The annual Day of Recollection for the parishes of the
Local Pastoral Area, is intended in the first place for all who exercise a ministry
in the congregation: readers, servers, musicians, welcomers - but is open to any
other parishioners who would like to avail of it. It will be led this year by Fr
Maurice O'Mahony, director of Hawkstone Hall Pastoral Centre. Coffee, tea,
soup provided; bring your own sandwiches.

HELP! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT ST PETER'S
1. Church Cleaners: A new rota of cleaners for St Peter's is about to be
compiled and one slot is empty: just one section of the church every 10 weeks.
Could you help? Please contact Barbara, 873048.
2. We could also do with extra volunteers to act as welcomers, as altar-servers,
as organ operators, as keyboard players.... Please think seriously about what
you could do to facilitate and enhance the worship and life of our congregation.
