Nokia Siemens Networks A-1200-X
complements the A-series product line
by adding a cost-effective switch for
providing Ethernet services from
mobile operators’ hub sites. A-1200-X
is a compact size 1RU Carrier Ethernet
Access Switch with 10 Gbps full duplex
non-blocking switching capacity that
offers cost-effective 10/100/1000
Ethernet interfaces. The A-1200-X
supports sub-50 ms service protection
for E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree services.
The A-1200-X supports four
100/1000Base-X SFP interfaces, six
10/100/1000Base-T interfaces for nonblocking connectivity to both UNI and
NNI in the Carrier Ethernet network.
Customer traffic is mapped by using
multiple and flexible classifications
from layer 1 (port-based) up to layer
3 (IP Address, Protocol Type and
DSCP bits).
With advanced synchronization
capabilities, the A-1200-X plays a
significant role in the end-to-end
synchronization of Nokia Siemens
Networks Mobile Backhaul solution.
Allowing support for Frequency
Division Duplexing (FDD) as well as
Time Division Duplexing (TDD)*
technologies, the A-1200-X is uniquely
positioned for packet-based mobile
backhaul networks.

The A-1200-X may be deployed as a
high-end CPE working with the Nokia
Siemens Networks A-2200/A-1210
Edge switches and the Juniper MX
Switch/Router family.
The A-1200-X can also be used as
an aggregation switch working together
with the A-1200 multiservice switch
to provide a very economical
access solution.
Using Nokia Siemens Networks’
product portfolio, Carriers and Service
Providers can construct a powerful
high-performance and efficient Metro
infrastructure, designed to quickly deliver
profitable communication services.
The Nokia Siemens Networks’
management systems (ASPEN,
NetViewer and NetAct Transport) enable
E2E carrier-grade management which

Mobile Backhauling applications
The A-1200-X can be used as a
2G/3G/4G aggregator at tail sites and
as a tail site aggregator at hub sites.
Part of the MBH solution, the A1200-X offers:
• Ethernet interfaces for packet-based
2G/3G and LTE backhaul
• Advanced synchronization including:
Synchronous Ethernet, and IEEE
1588-2008Transparent Clock*
• QOS assurances for delay, jitter
and loss
• Standard OAM mechanisms and
protocols (Y.1731 and IEEE802.1ag)
• Managed by the Nokia Siemens
Networks’ ASPEN E2E management

Synchronization
The A-1200-X supports a standard
mechanism for connectivity check
(CCM 802.1ag) in configurable interval
ranges between 10 ms and 10 s. Upon
failure in either the access or in the
MPLS domain, the end-to-end service
switchover is triggered and protection
takes place.
