Reflection from the Pastor:
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says the famous line, “Repay to Caesar
what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God”. It’s a
clever response to the machinations of the Herodians, who
supported cooperation with Rome, and wanted to charge Jesus
with treason, and to the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, who also
collaborated with Rome, but publically preached that no one
should support Rome. But if we look more closely at Jesus’
response, we realize that although Jesus is holding the Roman coin
with Caesar’s image on it, he doesn’t tell us exactly what belongs
to Caesar and what belongs to God. In other words, Jesus doesn’t
sharply define what is “just” Caesar’s and what is “just” God’s.
We know from the practice of our Stewardship way of life that all
is a gift from God. How will we share all that we have received in
love of God and neighbor? Jesus invites us to speak to him and to
discern. Won’t you take up that invitation?

corresponde a Dios.
Vas a
responder a esa invitación?
