THIS WEEK: PRECIOUS IN GOD’S SIGHT
As we consider the values of God’s Household, one thing is clear: children matter. The
reign of God belongs to them.
• In worship today, choose one of our children to be the beneficiary of your prayers this
week. Ask God to bless that child, hold that child, and care for that child.
• In his new film, Every Three Seconds, filmmaker Daniel Karslake features a boy named
Charlie who raised a quarter of a million pounds to help children in Haiti through
UNICEF. Make a donation to UNICEF and mark it for Haiti relief.
• Middle Church is holding a Day of Art every month on the way to the launch of our
Freedom School beginning today at 2:00 PM. See Alisa Joyce to volunteer. Bring a child to
our next Day of Art on November 9. Donate at middlechurch.org to make the Freedom
School dream a reality.
DEAR MIDDLE FAMILY—
FAMILY Thank you for your financial gifts over the last twelve months! We
ended our fiscal year on June 30, having achieved approximately 94% of our annual offering
goal. This is amazing generosity. In 2008, we gave $164,000; this year, we gave more than
$470,000! As we move back into our program building, and on the way to funding 50% of
our ministry by 2020, Middle Church needs your continued support. Your giving enables us
to grow our efforts to do justice, to nurture spirits, and to share God’s love with those
around us. Thanks for your faithful giving! — Middle Church Consistory

In your own heart, connect the dots between immigration issues and Ferguson. What is the
common narrative? What do you think Middle Church can do about it? What do you think
you can do about it? Write an idea on the back a blue prayer card and put it in offering bag.

Middle Collegiate Church is a celebrating, culturally diverse, inclusive and growing
community of faith where all persons are welcomed just as they are as they come through
the door. Rooted in Christian tradition as the oldest continuous Protestant Church in North
America, Middle Church is called by God to boldly do a new thing on the earth.
As a teaching congregation that celebrates the arts, our ministries include rich and
meaningful worship, care, and education that nurture the mind, body, and spirit, social
action which embraces the global community, and participation in interfaith dialogue for
the purpose of justice and reconciliation. :: middlechurch.org
