PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Disco
The school discos were a great success last Thursday night with the majority
of our students and staff members attending. A lot of fun was had by all and
the behaviour of all of the children was outstanding. A big thank you to the P &
C for organising the event and it was great to see so many parents assisting in
the canteen.
Weetbix TRYathlon
Decathlete Jake Stein will be presenting at a special school assembly for
grades 1-6 on Friday morning for the launch of the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon.
Local MP Stuart Ayres and the Mayor of Penrith Ross Fowler will attend the
launch as will Olympic 50m Freestyle Silver Medallist James Magnussen.
James will then spend extra time after the assembly fielding questions from
some of our students and giving tips on leading an active and healthy lifestyle.
Staff Car Park
Our main staff car park is being extended to take staff cars off the side street
parallel to the school fence line. This should ease some of the traffic
congestion in the afternoons as parents will have more parking spaces made
available to them. A fortnight ago I attached photographs of the new traffic
conditions proposed by the Local Traffic Authority. Information and
photographs will be posted on the school’s website for your perusal. If you
have any concerns in regards to the traffic proposals please contact the
Penrith City Council. As mentioned in a newsletter article last term, we have
locked the pedestrian access gate next to the staff car park to ensure the
safety of the students. It concerns me that some parents continue to walk
their children through the car park. Some parents have even called their
children to run across the new section of the car park whilst our groundsman
was on the Bobcat during its construction. There are three other exits for
parents and students to use.
Kindergarten Orientation
We look forward to meeting our Kindergarten students for 2015 next Thursday,
November 13. If you have a child who will be in Kindergarten in 2015 and
have yet to enrol, please do so as a matter of urgency so that your child
participates in our Kinder Readiness Program.
P & C Meeting
The next P & C meeting will be held on Monday, November 10 at 7.30pm.
The Canteen committee will meet at 7pm.
