Adele
Maximiuk, with family by her side,
peacefully fell asleep in the Lord
on November 2, 2014 at the age of
70, after a courageous struggle
with cancer. Merle was born
December 8, 1943 in The Pas, MB, to
John and Nellie (Evaniw) Kinaschuk.
Merle’s elementary and high
school was taken in Sturgis, SK.
Merle continued her studies eventually completing a Business College
Certificate.
Merle
participated
in organizations such as CYMK,

of Mohyla Institute. Merle had
the opportunity to teach at Camp
Kiev in Ontario and at Camp
Trident by Canora, SK. Merle
developed a true appreciation for the
importance of the church camps
for the youth and would return to
Camp Trident
as
a
camp
administrator. Merle married John
Maximiuk in 1964. The two of them
made their first home in Yorkton,
SK and then later in Grenfell, SK.
As a result of sharing her mother’s
love for flowers and gardening, Merle would be involved with the
horticultural society in Grenfell. The family often attended St. Michael’s U.O.
Church in Candiac, SK and St. Mary the Protectress U.O. Church in
Melville, SK. In 1980, John and Merle made the decision to move back to
Yorkton. Merle would become involved in executive positions with the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Transfiguration in Yorkton, with
the Ukrainian Women’s Association, Olena Pchilka Branch, as well as
being involved with the Simon Petlura CYMK Branch of Yorkton. Merle was

fulfilled a personal dream of hers and travelled to Ukraine with her father,
John. There she had the opportunity to visit the Kinaschuk family in the
village, Vinnyatyntsi. Merle was involved with the Ukrainian Canadian
Congress (UCC) - Yorkton Branch, as well as the Saskatchewan Provincial Council for over 10 years and it has provided her with the opportunity
to continue her involvement with the Ukrainian Canadian community.
Merle, on behalf of the Yorkton UCC Branch, organized various activities
throughout the years such as: Ukrainian Day in the Park, Holodomor
commemorations, Taras Shevchenko concerts, organizing the Nation
Builders and community recognition awards and continued the work of
the UCC in supporting the new immigrants from Ukraine as they become
a new group of nation builders for Saskatchewan and Canada. For her
efforts and dedication she was honored during a Nation Builders Ceremony
in 2013. Merle had found great joy and fulfilment in assisting the new
immigrant families navigate their new environment, sharing what her city,
her province, her country had to offer was some of the most rewarding
work of her life. Merle also found great enjoyment in visiting and participating
in the lives of her grandchildren, music, embroidery, curling, going
for coffee and being with the Splurge Girls. When Merle was diagnosed
with cancer she moved to Saskatoon to be with family for support. She
then moved into the Ilarion Residence and found much joy in this community.
As her health care needs became greater she moved to a personal
care home and finally was hospitalized to receive the care and support

BIBLOW - Mrs. Dorothy Biblow, a
resident of Yorkton & District
Nursing Home passed away on
November 3, 2014 at the age of 99
years. Dorothy was born on July
25, 1915 in the Whitesand, SK
area, eldest daughter of Magda
and Fred Spelchen. She was
raised on the family farm and attended the Homestead school. On
October 27, 1939 she was united
in marriage to Nick Biblow at St.
Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church
in Yorkton. The couple farmed in
the Buchanan district until 1966, at
that time they sold their farm and
moved to the Preeceville district
and continued farming until the
spring of 1977 when they retired to
Yorkton. Dorothy was an avid gardener and loved providing fresh
vegetables and fruit to family and
friends. Dorothy also loved to read
and continued doing so up to her
final days, without ever having to
wear eyeglasses. Truly an exceptional lady, she loved her grandchildren and they in return, sure
loved their “Baba”. Dorothy was very strong in her Catholic faith and
passed that on to all her children. Dorothy sold her house at the age of 91
and moved into assisted living care for three years and then moved into
long-term care at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. Dorothy had an
exceptional sense of humour; for example, while living at the care home
she was asked to pick a song during an entertainment evening and
Dorothy picked “Show Me The Way To Go Home”. This drew a lot of laughter
from the crowd! Predeceased by her parents Fred and Magda Spelchen,
husband Nick Biblow, brothers Mike, Bill, Nick and Johnny, sisters Anne,
Pauline and Mary. She leaves to mourn her children, Adeline Tzupa of
Yorkton, Marge (Bernie) Slugoski of Yorkton, Eileen (Don) Danyluk of
Saskatoon, Jim (Germaine) Biblow of Cochrane and Andy (Donna) Biblow
of Calgary; fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, a
brother Peter (Donna) Spelchen of Canora, sisters Olga Verheyde of
Vancouver, Rosalyn (Emil) Arabsky of Grand Prairie and many nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends. The Prayer Service was held on Friday,
November 7, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre preceded
by the Holy Rosary led by members of the UCWLC. The Funeral Divine
Liturgy was held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian
Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Ray Lukie, C.Ss.R. as the

Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory!
Funeral arrangements were in care of:
ROTHWELL - June Rose. June
10, 1929 - November 1, 2014.
June was born on June 10, 1929
in Yorkton, SK. She was the
second daughter of Richard and
Augusta (nee Jackson) Rothwell.
June grew up on the family farm
near Willowbrook, SK, where she
attended Look Out School from
grades 1 to 10, taking grades 9
and 10 by correspondence. After
completing grades 11 and 12 at
the Yorkton Collegiate, she graduated in 1947. In September of that
year she attended Normal School
in Moose Jaw, SK. After six weeks
of studies, she accepted a teaching
position at Oak Knoll School in
Rocanville, SK, where she stayed
for two years. She was only 18
years old, but was teaching grades
1 - 10. June then moved to Pheasant
Hills School, near Duff, SK. In
1950, she accepted a position in
the junior room at Willowbrook
School. In 1951 she moved to
Yorkton, teaching grade 2 at Burke
School, where she stayed for 15
years. In 1967 June intended to return to University, however, she was
asked to accept an interim position at the Lions School in Yorkton. She
taught there for 24 years, the last ten years as principal. In 1991, June
and her students became part of Dr. Brass School. June obtained a
Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Her
career ended in 1992, after 44 years of exemplary service to Saskatchewan
youth. June’s greatest satisfaction over the years was her work with
special needs children. Her time at the Lions’ School led to an interest in
Special Olympics. She was involved in the organization of the first provincial meet in Saskatchewan and continued to be active in Special Olympics
locally and provincially for many years. Admired for her generosity
and compassion, June was a dedicated community worker and member
of Holy Trinity Anglican Church choir and altar guild. Her appreciation of
music, curling, gardening, baking and visitors brought her joy as her failing health kept her closer to home. June’s compassion for the plight of
stray animals led her to rescue many homeless cats. Finding homes for
them was not easy and often these poor creatures were sheltered by
June. June was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Augusta
Rothwell; her sister, Dora Laing; her brothers, Gordon and Richard Rothwell;
sister-in-law, Hilda Rothwell; brothers-in-law, Charles Laing and Carroll
Chlopan and many special friends. She leaves to mourn her passing, her
sister, Kathleen Chlopan; her special nieces and nephews, Sharon Phillips
(Ralph), Chari LaLonde, Gordon Laing, Lesley Magnus (Randy),
Richard Chlopan (Lisa), Scott Chlopan and Barbara Diaz (Felipe) as well
as many devoted friends and colleagues. June’s family wish to extend a
very special thank you to Dr. A.C. Van Heerden and the circle of friends
that cared for June the last years of her life. A Service of Thanksgiving for
the life of June Rose Rothwell was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church,
Yorkton, SK on Saturday, November 8, 2014 with Reverend Kim Salo and
Reverend Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. The organist, Judy Berg led the
congregation and members of Holy Trinity Anglican Church Choir in the
singing of the hymns, “Lift High The Cross”, “Sister, Let Me Be Your
Servant”, “How Great Thou Art” and the “Dunc Dimittus”. The Interment
Service followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Richard Chlopan, Scott
Chlopan, Troy Phillips, John Knoch, Brian Beck and Terry Chornomud
serving as the casket bearers. To honour and commemorate the life of
June Rothwell, donations can be made to Guardian Angel Animal Rescue
(Box 1751, Yorkton, SK, S3N 3L4), the Yorkton SPCA (79 7th Ave. S.,

A heart of gold stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove
to us,
He only takes the best.
By the old rugged cross, you sit
with a smile,
Waiting for those, you have left
for awhile.
And those you have left with
their grief and their loss,
Will meet you one day,
By that old rugged cross.
—Love always, your family
THIES - In loving memory of our
Wife, Mother & Grandmother Olga Thies, who passed away
November 16, 2011, her favourite
poem:
Footprints in the Sand
One night I had a dream...
I dreamed I was walking along the
beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes
from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets
of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me and the other
to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life
flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in
the sand.
I noticed that many times along
the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at
the very lowest and saddest times
in my life
This really bothered me, and I
questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided
to follow you,
You would walk with me all the
way;
But I have noticed that during the
most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why in times
when I
needed you the most, you should
leave me.
The Lord replied, “My precious,
precious child.
I love you, and I would never,
leave you during your times
of trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of
footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
We miss you & think of you every
day

LAURIN - Danette (Minkler) who
passed away on November 15,
1998.
We thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
We though about you yesterday,
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name.
Now all we have our memories,
and your picture in this frame.
Your memory is our keepsake,
With which we’ll never part.
God has you in His keeping,
We have you in our hearts.
-Love your sisters,
Fayne, Val & Danita.

PLAN NUMBER 7-31000
TWO-STOREY
FAMILY HOME
Two-storey homes,
square metre for square
metre, provide the most
living space on a property, and this three-bedroom family home is no
exception.
Entry is through a covered porch with a veranda to the left. Once in
the foyer, double doors
open to a den, with the
U-shaped staircase to the
second floor beyond. A
window above the stairwell will let in lots of
natural light.
The great room, separated from the foyer by
an archway, has a lofty
sloped ceiling that is
open to the floor above.
A gas fireplace is flanked
by entertainment units,
and large windows look
onto a covered patio at
the back of the home.
From the dining area,
access to the covered
deck is easy, through
sliding glass doors. A
prep island divides the
kitchen from the dining
area, which has large
windows overlooking the
back garden.
Natural light will
enter the kitchen through
windows over the double
sink, which is set into a
corner at an angle. The
U-shaped counter con-
figuration will provide
adequate working space
as well as efficiency. A
walk-in pantry will offer
extra storage space.
Across from the powder room located near
the foyer is a handy coat
closet. Another closet is
included in the laundry
room, which has access
to the double garage,
large enough to include
a workshop.
Upstairs, the master
suite looks out to the
back garden. The generous en-suite includes a
soaker tub as well as double basins and a shower
stall. The walk-in closet
will be roomy enough for
a couple’s clothing and
accessories.
The second and third
bedrooms share a threepiece bath. A linen closet is located outside the
entrance to the third
bedroom.
Part of the second
floor is open to the great
room below, and is railed
for safety.
On the outside, the
home is clad in horizontal siding, with wooden
shingles and decorative
woodwork in the gables.
Pilasters with brick
bases mark the entry
and veranda, and brick
accents flank the two
garage doors.
This home measures
42 feet wide by 58 feet
deep, for a total of 2,079
square feet of living
space, not counting the
unfinished basement
included with the plans.
Ceilings rise to nine feet
throughout the main
floor, except where otherwise indicated.
Plans for design 7-31000 are available for
$755 (set of 5), $860(set
of 8) and $944 for a super
set of 10. Also add $30.00
for Priority charges within B.C. or $55.00 outside
of B.C. Please add 12%
H.S.T., 13% H.S.T. Or 5%
