Sustainable growth policy
OUR COMPANY’S WORK IS FULLY ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Environmental awareness means that the impact generated by the company activities on the environment is constantly monitored;
the consumption of resources and emissions into the atmosphere are among the most important aspects. In order to reduce
this impact we are constantly committed to revise our organization and internal processes by implementing technological and
structural improvements.
New Sites - Both in designing and building our new sites we pay a lot of attention to the material specifications selecting eco smart
and reusable materials. Great importance is given to the new regulation regarding thermal and sound-insulation of the buildings
as well as of the working areas thus creating very comfortable environments. The same attention is paid to energy saving. We are
enforcing a plan aiming at providing all of our newly designed buildings with photovoltaic panels.
Almost 150.000 m² of
photovoltaic panels

concerned.

Environmental policy
OUR FLEET
The new European Union standards regarding the reduction of emissions require considerable commitment from vehicle manufacturers and
sector operators in reducing CO2 emissions. Our renewed vehicle fleet, almost entirely Euro 5, reflects our commitment to respecting the
aforementioned environmental policies. A defined corporate policy is coupled to these initiative and commitment aiming at decreasing
kilometers unnecessarily covered by our trucks and streamlining their loads and paths.

OUR MODERN FLEET
Intermodal: service characteristics
THE COMBINED SOLUTION FULLY EXPLOITS THE STRENGTH POINTS OF THE ROAD AND RAIL TRANSPORT, MIXED
TOGETHER LONG DISTANCE ON RAIL, SHORT-RANGE MOVES BY ROAD.
Arcese choose the intermodal solution as a strategic and alternative development of their services. Investments in new
technologies, up-to-date equipment and network development are the best choices to offer innovative transport solutions.
 Thanks to our rail transport network, we move your goods guaranteeing high security standards, respecting the environment in
the meantime.
 We created an integrated road/rail distribution network to offer you a top-quality service at a competitive cost. Moreover, the use
of advanced technologies still allows our customers to constantly monitor their loads.
STRENGHT POINTS
• Up to 28 tons capacity
• Reliable, efficient on-time service
• No more traffic jams slow-downs
• No waiting time at the borders
• Performing Transit Time
• Effective eco-sustainability
• Reduction of fuel consumption and lower
polluting emissions
• Minimization of empty kilometres
• Reduction of the fuel impact on the running costs
13
Intermodal: milestones
 Arcese has always made use of inter-modal solutions, with the first combined services (road/rail) dating back to the
beginning of the 80's.
 With the issuing of specific policies by certain European countries, taxes were introduced on road transport from 2000,
making combined transport viable once again.
 From 2005, Arcese began redeveloping combined transport solutions based on a systematic and business approach,
opening the Italy-Belgium section, and purchasing 80 standard combined semi-trailers.
14
Intermodal: a smart solution
With the shifting from road transports on to rail and ferry in combined transport "Road/Rail and "Short-Sea shipping"
we make a considerable contribution to the reduction of polluting emissions, in particular of CO2 emissions.
In 2012 we carried out more than 23.000 intermodal transports throughout Europe reducing considerably CO2 emissions.
BY MAKING THE MOVE FROM ROAD
TRANSPORT TO INTERMODAL
TRANSPORT, CO2 EMISSIONS DROP
BY AN AVERAGE OF MORE THAN 50%
This is the most effective way to reduce the
emissions of carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere; this is why, wherever possible,
we recommend that our customers use our
combined road/rail transport services.
