PRIES - On November 15, 2014,
at the age of 86, Audrey Ella Pries
(Yeatman) quietly passed away
while family gathered to reminisce
about the woman they loved and
admired. Left to celebrate her life
with countless fond memories is
her devoted husband of 63 years,
Lyle Pries, children Gordon Pries
(Brenda) of Yorkton, Linda Wright
(Brent) of Dauphin, MB, Laurie
Agate (James) of Calgary, AB,
along with three grandchildren
Adam Pries, Ross Pries (Natsumi),
and Kevin Wright and great-grandchild, Eric Pries. Predeceased by
her mother and father, sisters,
Peggy Roseborsky, Gladys Huston
and Joan Yeatman and granddaughter Corrie Wright. Audrey
was born in Springside, on
November 2, 1928 to Albert and
Gertrude (Slack) Yeatman and spent
most of her life in Yorkton. On May
30, 1951, she married Lyle Pries
and together they raised three
children, Gordon, Linda and Laurie.
Audrey and Lyle were founding
partners in Maple Farm Equipment, which grew into a family business.
Audrey took immense pride in the business and found satisfaction from
work. Numerous people had the good fortune to experience her integrity
and mentorship. She truly relished the friends and relationships she
gained throughout her career. Once retired from business, Audrey continued
to learn and she shared her creativity with her artwork, writings and
comedy theatre. With great interest in her local community Audrey was a
member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1959 and served as board member for
both the Yorkton & District United Way and the Saskatchewan Division of
the Arthritis Society. The funeral service was held on Wednesday,
November 19, 2014 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with
Crystal Bailey, B.Th. Certified Funeral Celebrant, officiating. The eulogy
was given by Gordon, Linda & Laurie. Soloist, Amanda Buhler sang two
of Audrey’s favorite songs, ‘Amazing Grace’, and ‘Somewhere Over the
Rainbow’. The recessional was ‘What A Wonderful World’. Members of
the Gamma Master Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi attended the service
and paid tribute to Audrey. The interment followed in the Garden of Devotion with
Ross Pries and Kevin Wright serving as the urn bearers. Condolences can be
left at baileysfuneralhome.com. Memorials were to the Arthritis Society or to the
Yorkton United Way.
EVANS - Betty Evans was born
April 9, 1930 in Kindersley, SK,
daughter of Herb and Doris (nee
Hames) Linfoot. Her Dad worked
for
Canadian
Utilities
Power
Company and was transferred to
Yorkton in 1936 where Betty started
Grade 1 at Simpson School. Betty
completed Grade 3 when the family
was transferred to Grenfell, the
year WWII was declared. Her Dad
joined the Royal Canadian Navy
Reserve in 1940 and trained at
Naden, Esquimalt, BC (63 years
later Betty’s granddaughter Charlene
completed her Navy training
at this same base from 2003 to
2005). The family moved to British
Columbia where Betty attended
school at Bradner, New Westminster
and Langley Prairie. When the
war ended in 1945 her Dad was
transferred back to Yorkton where
Betty graduated Grade 12 at the
Yorkton Collegiate Institute (YCI).
She moved to Saskatoon where
she completed a Business Course
and was employed by the Royal
Bank. Betty’s life was always church centered and while attending St.
George’s Anglican Church in Saskatoon she met Evan deLloyd Evans know to all as Dutch. They were married in 1951 at Holy Trinity Church,
Yorkton. They returned to Saskatoon until Dutch was transferred to
Prince Albert and then to Calgary. Betty was active in the church
wherever she lived. In Calgary she was Girls’ Auxiliary leader and Sunday
School Superintendent with 150 elementary school children attending.
Donna remembers they were packed in the hall like sardines! In 1966 the
family moved to Yorkton and Betty became very active at Holy Trinity Sunday school teacher, Vestry member, People’s warden, Synod delegate
and Lay reader. In fact, the current Holy Trinity Anglican Church is a
result of the Building Committee Betty and her sister, Sheila were a part
of. In September of this year, the congregation celebrated the 25th
Anniversary of this church building where Betty spoke on the challenges and
the privilege of being a part of the build. In 1968 Betty opened a private
kindergarten in Holy Trinity Parish Hall. For 7 years she touched the lives
of many children. In 1975 kindergarten became a part of the elementary
school system and Betty was hired as a shared secretary for three
schools: Angus Spice, Fairview and Dr. Brass. Eight weeks into her new
job Dutch died suddenly, leaving Betty a widow at 45 with two of her four
children still at home. Her faith, love and support from relatives, friends
and co-workers kept her going and she returned to work, working for 20
years in a job she truly loved. The children, principals and teachers all
valued and respected her even when she expressed her opinion (which
was probably often!). Being the school secretary she was the go to
person for everyone and she came to the rescue of any child who needed
comforting, to call home or have a band aid for a cut or bruise. A mother
of one of the children said her son referred to Mrs. Evans as the
President of Dr. Brass. Betty loved to travel. In 1992 she and her daughter
Donna travelled to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. The trip was special
as her nephew was living in Japan at the time and was able to show
them many special sights. Her trip to England, Scotland and Wales with
Ray and Donna in 1997 was very memorable as they toured where her
Dad was born and also visited Dutch’s relatives in Wales. Her three sons
lived outside of Yorkton and she loved to visit them: Greg in Swift Current,
Regina and Moose Jaw; Rod in Regina, Edmonton and Prince Edward
Island (where she was thrilled to visit Cavendish, the setting for Anne of
Green Gables) and Tom in Calgary, where he would take her to Spruce
Meadows, the home of international horse sports. Betty loved her children
and was often complimented on raising them to be such wonderful kids.
She was very proud of their accomplishments and kept in touch with each
of them, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved Christmas.
The children remember her reading the story of Jesus’ birth on Christmas
Eve. After the story they would each light a candle on their cupcakes and
sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Betty loved gift giving and began early to
choose the perfect gift for each person on her list. Donna found Betty’s
gifts ready for this Christmas. Betty was predeceased by her husband,
Dutch; her parents, Herb and Doris Linfoot; her in-laws, Evan “Bill” and
Mary Evans; sisters-in-law, Olive Gunn and Gladys Chaben; brothers-inlaw, Tom (Madeliene) Evans and Gordon Harris and grandson, Jessie
Ahlquist. She leaves to celebrate her life; her sister and best friend, Sheila
Harris; her four children: Donna (Ray Sass), Greg (Lorna), Rod (Gwen)
and Tom (Belinda); grandchildren: Christopher (Meghan), Charlene (Jerrod),
Michael, Robert, Michelle (Jason) and Eli (Ang); great-grandchildren:
Connor, Derrick, Adam, Mackenzie, Alexandra, Taylor, Dominic, Jayd,
Kashton, Saryn and Colton. Betty touched the lives of many people
and each of you have your own special memories of her. Please share
them with her family to keep her spirit alive. As the Christmas season
approaches, Betty’s family ask that each person who was touched by her
love, perform a random act of kindness in her honour and memory of their
Mom. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014
from Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Yorkton, SK with Reverend Ken
Buchan and Reverend Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. Betty’s daughter shared
words of tribute in her mother’s honour. The readers were Sheila Harris
and Gregory Evans. The accompanists, Judy Berg and Joleen Cherland,
led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Morning Has Broken”,
“I Feel the Winds of God Today” and “Praise the Lord With the Sound of
Trumpet”. The Cremation Committal followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery
with Roderick Evans serving as the casket bearer. Friends so wishing
may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral
Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

her
unshakeable faith Geraldine passed

ANDRYCHUK
Mr. George
Andrychuk of Yorkton, formerly of the
Veregin district, beloved husband
of Elsie Andrychuk entered eternal
rest on November 18, 2014 at the
Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
He was 88 years of age. George
Alexander Andrychuk was born on
July 18, 1926 on the family farm
near Veregin, SK. He was the sixth
of ten children born to Alexander
and
Paraska
‘Polly’
(nee
Achtemichuk) Andrychuk. George
was raised on the family farm and
worked there till about age 17. He
then went to work for a farmer in
Manitoba. This is where his passion
and love for “Invention” came
about. In Ninette, MB he worked
and designed Snow planes for the
Davreux Garage for some years.
George also built wartime homes
in Yorkton for some extra money.
George and his brother Peter
formed a small delivery business
in Kamsack for a short time. At this
time George met Elsie Bodnarek
at the local barn dance and the
rest they say is history! Elsie and George married on July 12, 1953 and
lived in Kamsack. In 1955 George and Elsie moved to their farm north of
Veregin where they lived for forty-nine years until they retired and moved
into Yorkton in 2003. George was an excellent farmer who took great
pride in his crops. He taught himself to weld and was known as “the guy
who could fix anything.” He built his own truck camper, lawn mower,
motorbike and boat (out of fiberglass) all from scratch. Even their farm home
was built by George’s own hands. George built the first grain hopper out
of a three ton steel truck frame and box, designed by himself. This held
two and a half combine hoppers which at that time was a lot of wheat!
George loved fishing and camping and tinkering in the yard. Building anything and everything was always on his mind. George and Elsie spent
thirteen winters at the “Tip of Texas” in Trails End Park, making many new
friends which he still has today. Every morning his main goal in Texas
was getting the last orange on their tree before the possum did. George
was predeceased by his parents, Aleck and Polly; sisters, Anna, Nettie,
Mary and Kay; brother, Nick and daughter, Sherry Prokopetz. He leaves
to mourn, his wife, Elsie, of 61 years; son, Garry; daughter, Trena (Earl);
grandson, Will Prokopetz; step-grandchildren, Michael (Kelsey), Megan
(Devin); and step great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Maci; sister, Elsie (Peter)
Holowatuk; brothers, Peter (Nina), Mike (Verna) and Danny (Emily) as
well as many relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. A Prayer Service
was held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 and the Funeral Service on
Monday, November 24, 2014, both at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian
Orthodox Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky
officiating. Cantor, Gerald Yaholnitsky & Parish Choir Members led in the
responses. The crossbearer was Peter Holowatuk and banner bearer was
Lawrence Oystrick. Serving as honourary bearers were Margaret Cusitar,
Bill Bodnaryk, Sozon Malinsky and Lorraine Mozilisky. The interment
followed in the Garden of St. Matthew at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with
Dwayne Andrychuk, Brian Holowatuk, David Uhryn, Dwight Davies, Marvin
Klos and Garry Andrychuk serving as the casket bearers. Memorials
honouring George’s life may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the
Heart & Stroke Foundation. Condolences to the family can be sent to the

In Memoriam
PRYCHAK - In loving
memory of my dear sister
Sonia Caroline, who passed
away November 19, 2005.
Quietly remembered everyday
Sadly missed along life’s way
Just as you were, you will always
be
Loved and treasured in our memory.
Flowers and leaves may wither
The evening sun will set
But the ones who loved you
always
Are the ones who will never forget.
—Lovingly remembered and sadly
missed by your sister Adeline
There is a bridge of memories
from here to Heaven above
That keeps you very close to me
It is called the “Bridge of Love”
As time goes by without you
And the days turn into years
They hold a million memories
And a thousand silent tears
To me you were so special
What more is there to say
Except to wish with all my heart
That you were here today
If tears could build a stairway
And precious memories a lane
I would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you home again.
Vichnaya Pamyat Eternal Memory
— Forever loved and deeply
missed by your loving wife,
Adeline
ANDRUSIAK - Michael. November 26,
2001.
The angels looked down from
Heaven
They searched for miles afar
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.
They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain.
So they took you up to Heaven
Forever to remain.
Look down on us from Heaven
Mike
Keep us free from hurt and pain.
You’ll always be within our hearts
Until we meet again.
-We miss you Mike,
and love you always,
Mom & Dad,
Jason & Jamie,
Ashley & Carley.
SMYSNUIK - In loving memory of
Tony, who passed away Dec. 5. A
husband, father, grandfather and a
great-grandfather.
So many things have happened,
Since you were called away.
So many things to share with you,
Had you been left to stay.
You may be out of sight,
However, never out of mind.
For you are cherished in the
hearts,
Of those you left behind.
- Lovingly remembered
by the family.

ADDITION
TO
NEIGHBOURHOODS
The exterior finishes
on this two-storey, twofamily home – including
vertical board-and-batten siding, wood shingles
and stone-based pilasters – will make this a
welcome addition to any
neighbourhood where
duplex zoning is permitted.
Both homes are identical, and each has a
garage, so on-street parking won’t be a problem.
A trellised fence divides
the lot.
On the main floor
of both homes, entry is
through a compact foyer
and into the great room.
A coat closet is tucked
into the angle of the stairway to the second floor.
The great room’s gas
fireplace will make this
room a magnet for family activities during the
cooler months, while the
patio just outside the dining room will provide a
delightful oasis for summertime meals.
The kitchen, divided
from the dining area and
great room by a prep
island, features a spacesaving L-shaped counter
configuration, as well as
a large walk-in pantry. A
window over the double
sink will let in lots of
natural light.
A den on the main
floor is close to a twopiece lavatory, as well as
the laundry room, which
has access to the single
garage.

focuses
on
managing and supporting
Saskatchewan’s snowmobile trails in a sustainable manner.
To support the new
agreement, the annual
snowmobile
registration fee will increase
from $70 to $80 effective November 19, 2014.
The SSA requested an
increase to the snowmobile registration fee of
$10 per year for the next
four years, which means
the fee will rise to $110
by 2017-18.
“The SSA requested
this fee increase to better support the long
term sustainability of
the snowmobile trail
system, “ Saskatchewan
Snowmobile Association
President and CEO
Chris Brewer said.
“We thank government
for responding to our
request and for recognizing the value of recreational snowmobiling to
Saskatchewan.”
As in the past, snowmobile registration fees
will be payable once
per snowmobile in each
snowmobile season.
In
Saskatchewan,
with some exceptions,
a snowmobile must be
registered to lawfully
operate on public land
such as crown land,
municipal land and highway right of ways. The
snowmobile
registration fee and associated
insurance premium gives
snowmobile owners liability insurance and
access to the province’s
nearly 10,000 kilometers
of groomed snowmobile
trails. Snowmobilers are
encouraged to obtain
permission from landowners before riding on
private property.
Since 1999, the SSA has
acted as the trail manager
for the Saskatchewan
snowmobile trail network and since 2005,
all snowmobile registration fees collected
by
Saskatchewan
Government Insurance
have gone to the SSA.
The SSA uses registration fee funds to maintain
provincial snowmobile
trails and promote safe,
responsible snowmobiling.
