ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS — 1 POST- AC/12/380/14(R&T)
Applicants must be holders of a Ph.D. degree in the following areas of specialization:
Solid State Physics, Materials Science, Nuclear Physics, Geophysics, Theoretical Physics,
Astronomy and Astrophysics, Eleptronics, Laser Physics and Spectroscopy, Electrical and
Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and any other branches of Physics. They should
have a minimum of eight (8) years experience, three (3) of which must be at Senior Lecturer
level. In addition, they should have a minimum of five (5) publications in refereed journals
or three (3) publications and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since last promotion.
Applicants must have supervised a minimum of two (2) Ph.D. and three (3) Masters
Students.
The successful candidates will be required to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate
students, supervise their research projects and initiate and conduct research in their areas
of specialization. They will also be expected to participate in other Departmental, School and
University matters.
SENIOR LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORT - 3 POSTS
AC/12/381/14–(R&T)
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in relevant area from a recognized university. They should
have studied Physical education or Sports Sciences at undergraduate degree level. They should have at
least five (5) years teaching experience at both undergraduate and post graduate degree levels and must
have supervised at least three (3) Masters Students to completion. They must have experience in research
as evidenced by publications in refereed journals. In addition, they should have at least four (4)
publications in refereed journals or two (2) publications in refereed journals and two (2) chapters in
scholarly books since last promotion.

postgraduate students and undertake research in their areas of specialization
SENIOR LECTURER, SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH - 1 POST AC/12/382/14–(R&T)
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in Epidemiology with specialization in Biostatistics or its
equivalent from a recognized university. . They should have at least five (5) years teaching experience at
both undergraduate and post graduate degree levels and must have supervised at least three (3) Masters
Students to completion. They must have experience in research as evidenced by publications in refereed

journals. In addition, they should have at least four (4) publications in refereed journals or two (2)
publications in refereed journals and two (2) chapters in scholarly books since last promotion.

LECTURER, SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH – 3 POSTS AC/12/383/14–(CHS)
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in Public Health or equivalent with specialization in
Biostatistics or Epidemiology or related fields, with a Masters degree in Public Health as an added
advantage OR a PhD degree in Demography & Population Studies from a recognized university and a
minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2) chapters in scholarly books will also be
considered. They should be able to provide evidence of continuing research.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree
levels. They will be expected to undertake research in their areas of specialization.
LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY- 2 POSTSAC/12/384/14- (CHS)
Applicants must be registered Medical Practitioners and should possess an MMed degree in Obstetrics &
Gynaecology or its equivalent from a recognized university. They should have research experience, with at
least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly books. They should show
evidence of continuing research activity. Previous experience in teaching, mentoring and supervising
students in clinical areas and research will be an added advantage. They should also demonstrate prowess
in research and a predilection towards sub- specialty in relevant specialization.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and
postgraduate students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization and also participate
in School’s activities. They will also be expected to participate fully in clinical responsibilities at Kenyatta
National Hospital among other duties.
LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORT - 2 POSTS
AC/12/385/14–(CEES)
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in relevant area from a recognized university. They should
have studied Physical Education or Sports Sciences at undergraduate degree levels. Applicants with
Masters degree in relevant with at least three (3) years teaching at University level, have registered for a
PhD degree in relevant area and a minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2)

chapters in scholarly books will also be considered. They should be able to provide evidence of
continuing research.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree
levels. They will be expected to undertake research in their areas of specialization.
LECTURER, DEPARTMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY -1 POST-AC/12/386/14- (CHS)
Applicants must be holders of an MBCHB degree or its equivalent and a Master of Medicine degree in
Ophthalmology and at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level. They should have
research experience, with at least two (2) publications in refereed journals or two chapters in scholarly
books. They should show evidence of continuing research activity. They should be registered with the
Kenya Medical & Practitioners’ & Dentists’ Board.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise at both undergraduate and postgraduate
students and undertake further research in their areas of specialization and also participate in School’s
activities.
LECTURER, SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS-1 POST-AC/12/387/14- (CHSS)
Applicants must be holders of a PhD degree in Economics from a recognized university. Applicants
with masters degree in Economics with at least three (3) years teaching at University level, registered for
a PhD degree in relevant area and a minimum of two (2) publications in refereed journals or two (2)
chapters in scholarly books will also be considered. They should be able to provide evidence of
continuing research.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach Economic Theory and/or Quantitative
/Mathematical Economics plus an applied area of Economics at both undergraduate and postgraduate
degree levels. They will be expected to undertake research in their areas of specialization.
SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR LEVEL) -AC/12/388/14(R&T)RE-ADVERTISEMENT
Applicants should be holders of a first degree from a recognized University, CPA (K) in or its
equivalent, membership to a professional Accountancy body and at least 7 years relevant experience, 3 of
which should be as an Internal Auditor or Accountant. Applicants with CPA (K), 10 years experience in
an Audit Department of a large organization at a senior level will also be considered. Membership of a
recognized professional body e.g. CISA, CIA etc will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will carry out risk assessment in consultation with line managers, prepare risk
based audit plans, execute detailed audit procedures including reviewing transactions, documents and

records when need arises, review internal controls with respect to the mandate of the department and
give recommendations ensure compliance with existing laws policies, regulations and instructions, review
audit working papers; ensure the maintenance of high audit standards within their areas, carry out
investigations competently when need arises, provide assistance to external auditors when requested,
supervise and train on the job staff working under him/her and any other duties that may be assigned by
management.
ASSISTANT SECRETARY GRADE A, PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE, COLLEGE OF
BIOLOGICAL & PHYSICAL SCIENCES- 1 POST-AD/12/389/14- (CBPS)
Applicants should be holders of a KCSE Grade C or KCE Div. III or its equivalent qualification with a
Credit in English language. In addition they must have passed the following subjects offered by the
Kenya National Examinations Council or equivalent examining body:Business English II
Commerce II
Secretarial Duties II
Office Management III
Shorthand 80 wpm or Audio Typing III
Typewriting 50 wpm
They must be computer literate.

REGISTRY CLERK GRADE IV, DIRECTOR’S OFFICE, STUDENTS’ WELFARE
AUTHORITY-1 POST- AD/12/390/14- (SWA)
Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE C or equivalent with credits in English and
Mathematics or equivalent. They must have at least three (3) years experience as Clerk Grade III
and must have shown merit and ability in work performance and results. Those who have at least three
years working experience in a public university doing records work will have an added advantage.
Please note that the appointment is on a one year contract term renewable on mutual agreement.
CLEANER GRADE II, DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION -2 POSTSAD/12/391/14- (CAVS)
Applicants must be holders of at least a KCSE certificate or its equivalent. They must have at least five
years working experience in relevant offices. They must have a good school leaving certificate and a
good reference letter from current Section Head. They must be able to communicate fluently in both
English and Kiswahili languages. They must have served as Messenger / Cleaner grade I or equivalent
position for at least three (3) years. They must have good public relations. They must be of high
integrity, reliable, disciplined and committed to work. Those with experience in a public university in an
animal production unit for at least 9 years working experience in maintaining cleanliness in lecture
rooms, hatchery, poultry houses, rabbitary and sample store rooms will have an added advantage.

ANIMAL ATTENDANT GRADE II, DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL PRODUCTION
2 POSTS- AD/12/392/14- (CAVS)
Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE certificate and must have served as Animal Attendant Grade
I or equivalent for at least 10 years working experience. Those with experience in attending to fistulated
animals, day old chicks in a brooder, vaccination and debeaking of layers in a poultry unit and rabbitary unit
will have an added advantage. Those with a working experience in a public university in an animal
production unit for at least 9 years in maintaining cleanliness in lecture rooms, hatchery, poultry houses,
rabbitary and sample store rooms will have an added advantage.
VACANT POSITIONS IN THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT
A. DEPUTY DIRECTOR (TECHNICAL SERVICES)- 1 POST- AC/12/393/14- ( R&T)
Applicants should possess a PHD degree/or a Masters in Library Information Science from a
recognized university, and nine years of work experience, three of which must be at Senior Librarian
Level. The successful candidate will be directly answerable to the Director, Library and Information
Services.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in planning, policy formulation and
implementation of the entire University Library System. Evidence of research and management
experience in academic or research libraries will be an added advantage. The candidate should also
demonstrate involvement in professional activities at Institutional and National levels.
PhD degree or equivalent
B. SENIOR LIBRARIAN -4 POSTS- AC/12/394/14- ( R&T)
Applicants must be graduates of a recognized university with at least a Masters degree in Library and
Information Science or its equivalent. They must have a minimum of nine years management and
professional experience, three of which should be as a Librarian. Evidence of ICT working knowledge is
a must. Those with evidence of research and management experience in academic or research libraries
will have an added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to be in charge of one of the
branch libraries or one of the large sections within the University Library System. They will in addition,
be expected to participate in Information Literacy Programs.
C. LIBRARIAN -10 POSTS- AC/12/395/14- ( R&T)
Applicants must be graduates of a recognized university with at least a Masters degree in Library and
Information Science or its equivalent. They must have a minimum of six years working experience at a
busy academic or research environment. Evidence of ICT working knowledge is a must. The successful
candidate will be expected to be in charge of one of the branch libraries or one of the large sections
within the University Library System. They will in addition, be expected to participate in Information
Literacy Programs.

D. HEAD BINDER GRADE DEF - 1 POST- AD/12/396/14- ( R&T)
Applicants must have grade C in KCSE and above or O level Division II. The applicant must also
possess a Bachelor of Science in Printing Technology or Higher National Diploma in Printing
Technology, Book Binding Print Finishing or its equivalent. They must have three years experience as
an Assistant Head Binder Grade ABC or equivalent in a busy well established Bindery preferably in an
academic institution. The person will also be in-charge of overseeing the University Bindery.
E. BINDING ASSISTANT A/B/C ,- 1 POST- AD/12/397/14- ( R&T)
Applicants must have at least KCSE Grade C or KCE Division III or equivalent. In addition they should
have a Diploma in Printing Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution. They must have
at least three years relevant experience.
F. BINDING ASSISTANT III/IV- 5 POSTS- AD/12/398/14- ( R&T)
Applicants should possess a KSCE D+ and have a certificate in Binding or Printing technology. Three
years working experience is an added advantage. The candidate should know how to bind and repair
journals, library books, theses, projects and documents.
G. PHOTOGRAPHER GRADE D -1 POST- AD/12/399/14- ( R&T)
Applicants should have at least a KCSE C or its equivalent and also a Diploma in Photography from a
recognized institution. A Certificate in Computer applications in a relevant field will be an added
advantage. The candidate should have a minimum of five years working experience in a busy
photographic unit.
H. PHOTOGRAPHER GRADE A/B/C -1 POST-AD/12/400/14- ( R&T)
Applicants should have a KCSE Grade C or equivalent and also possess Diploma in Photography or its
equivalent and have at least three years working experience in a busy photographic unit.
I. HEADMAN GRADE III -1 POST- AD/12/401/14- ( R&T)
Applicants must have attained a KCSE D+ with three years work experience. They should have a
certificate in management. The successful candidate will be required to open the Library, identify and
oversee repairs of physical facilities, Identify and oversee the maintenance of the buildings and monitor
cleanliness and ensure a healthy environment.

1.
Applicants for academic posts (AC) should forward ten (10) copies of their application letters
accompanied by similar number of certified copies of certificates and C.Vs giving details of their
qualifications, experience, research activities and publications they appear in. Applicants for non-
