Guide on how to apply for a
master program in the STADSDANS application system
Start by choosing the tab “create application”
In the drop-down menus, choose “Aalborg University” and “Master”. Click on “Search”.
You will now see a full list of the programmes that you can apply for at a given study period.
Find the programme you want to study on the list, mark it off, and click on “Move on to creation of
application”:
You will now see a short text with the information that you have entered in the system so far.
Again, click on “Move on to creation of application”.

The application process, step-by-step
1. Collection of data
Please note! This is ONLY relevant if you currently are/have been studying in Denmark at one of
the institutions listed. If you are a new student in Denmark simply click “Next”.
Mark the institution where you are/have been studying, click “Request information”, and the system will start collecting your data.
Aalborg University is per default marked.
2. Person
This step is regarding your personal information. Some of the information is already in the system
(marked with grey) and some you are required to fill in, such as your phone number.
Here, it is very import that you choose communication language. As an international student,
please choose “English” as ALL information otherwise will be shown in Danish.
3. Applied education/Course
If you need to apply for an exemption (only for currently enrolled students at Aalborg University),
or wish to apply for credit transfer, choose “Yes” and upload supporting documents in this step.
If this does not apply to you, simply choose “no”.

4. Requirements and prerequisites
Upload all relevant documentation in this step.
Upload your academic transcripts under “Completed academic degrees”, or, if relevant, under “Inprogress academic degrees”.
Upload additional documentation (English test, copy of your passport/ID card, and/or receipt for
payment of application fee) in the relevant fields. Remember to click “Upload”.
Please note that it is your responsibility to upload the necessary information.
Find the admission requirements for your desired programme at www.aau.dk/education/master.

5. Service offer
In this step, you will be asked a few questions, for instance whether you wish to apply for a mentor/buddy
6. Show application
Finally, review your application before you submit it.
If you have any changes to your application, make them now. It is not possible to make changes
after you have submitted your application. You can go back by clicking on the individual steps.
7. Send application
In this last step, you submit application:
When your application has been submitted, you will receive a message in STADS-DANS confirming
the reception of your application.
Messages are viewed under the tab “Messages”.
It is your own responsibility to read and respond to messages sent from Aalborg University.
Every time new information is available regarding your application, an e-mail will be sent to your email address (Remember to check the spam folder).
Under the tab “See status of applications,” you can follow the status of your application.
The status of the application can change from “Draft”, “Received”, “Under Treatment”, and “Request for documentation” or “Offered Admission”.
