The tour will be held at the Spokane Hutterian Brethren north of Deep Creek. The Hutterian farm, about 10,000 acres, is mostly irrigated on 74 circles with irrigation water drawn from the Spokane River. It raises alfalfa and timothy hay, corn, seed potatoes and canola, wheat, commercial and registered cattle, and poultry. The tour will begin with the haying operation at Little Falls on the Spokane River and then move to the Wood Road headquarters for the grain and potato operations, feed mill, lunch and the livestock operations. All participants are asked to ride the bus. It will depart Deer Park’s South Mall at 8:30 a.m., stop at Yokes Fresh Market in Airway Heights at 9:25 a.m. and then head for Little Falls. Arrangements can be made for other stops along the bus’s route. Cost of the tour is $50 per person, which includes bus, refreshments, lunch and undoubtedly cold weather.
