Knitting for the Homeless
Over $200 in cash donations! More than 300 skeins
of yarn! 20 fantastic teachers!
“It is thanks to the generosity of groups, such as
the Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure, that we
can help these ‘forgotten’ seniors so that they can
live their lives with much more respect and
dignity. Thank you.” Bruno Scorsone, Executive
Director, Good Neighbour’s Club
www.goodneighboursclub.org
Last Saturday, a wonderful group of young people
from our parish ventured downtown to the Good
Neighbour's Club with over one hundred and
fifty hand-knit scarves, hats, and mitts, which had
been lovingly crafted by the people or our
fantastic community.
The surprise and quiet joy many of the men
expressed upon receiving their scarf was a
beautiful testament to the awesome spirit of St.
Bonaventure Parish. Thank you for making this
possible: for us, the members of the youth
ministry, and especially for all the humble and
amazing recipients of your generosity.
For the Church, charity is ... a part of her nature,
an indispensable expression of her very being.
-- Pope Benedict XVI, Deus Caritas Est

LITURGY
World Day of the Sick
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, Saturday,
February 7, 5 pm
During mass we will offer the sacrament to all who
are seriously ill, elderly or anticipating surgery.
Through this celebration those who receive the
sacrament are surrounded and supported by the
prayers of Jesus and the Christian community as
we continue the healing ministry of Jesus. “Are
there any who are sick among you? Let them send
for the priests of the Church, and let the priests
pray over them, anointing them with oil in the
name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will
save the sick persons.” (James 5:14)
