EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
By Syndi Zook
Happy New Year my friends! Lyric was as busy as ever
over the holidays. Membership Chair Serena Magnan
O’Connell once again organized Holiday Caroling on the
Church Street Marketplace, spreading joy and laughter. Lots
of laughter! Nick Caycedo and Ashley O’Brien created and
directed a wonderful show for the Lyric Winter Cabaret
Ensemble. All three First Night shows were packed and the
Ensemble followed up by singing at the Vermont 50+ and
Boomer Expo to over 500 audience members. The show was
terrific and highlighted many songs from upcoming Lyric
shows. Speaking of upcoming shows, the Lyric cast and crew
members are hard at work on Legally Blonde: the Musical.
On January 10th, over 14 doggies came to audition for the
two canine roles in the show. Joey and Enzo have joined the
cast in the roles of “Bruiser” and “Rufus.” Now is the time to
get tickets for the show. Good seats are going fast, opening
night is close to full and you will not want to miss this fun
and funny show. Go now to: www.FlynnTix.org.
And in case you missed it, here is the link to a wonderful
article about the “Doggie Auditions” from The Burlington
Free Press!

SPONSORS SO GOOD YOU’LL EAT THEM UP!
By Marcus Certa
Lyric Theatre is pleased by all the community support
we receive, especially from those business who become show
sponsors. For Legally Blonde: The Musical we have received
the support of not just one show sponsor, but eight show
sponsors collectively known as “Elle’s Elite Eight.” We
would like to introduce you to these eight show sponsors
who create some of the best food in Burlington. We
encourage you to plan on dinner or lunch at one of these
great places before or after seeing Legally Blonde!
 Daily Planet – The eclectic cuisine tours the globe.
Sit in the solarium with soaring windows and vibrant
foliage providing a relaxed yet intimate setting for
families and friends. The dining room’s cozy copper
ambiance is perfect for date night, and the bar’s
urban atmosphere provide Burlington’s best spot for
a night out with friends.
 EB Strong’s Prime Steakhouse – It’s Vermont’s first
USDA Prime Steak House sourcing the finest
ingredients. Located on the north end of the Church
Street Marketplace, EB Strong’s is owned by a
fixture of the Burlington restaurant community, Tim
February 2015
Halvorson. Tim and his team will showcase the
finest steaks and the best burgers for lunch and
dinner.
 Ken’s Pizza & Pub – New York style pizza is not
hours away. You will find it on the Church Street
Marketplace along with delicious sandwiches and
Italian specialties. Stop in grab a slice or sit down
and enjoy this fun spot downtown.
 Leunig’s Bistro – Leunig’s is one of the oldest,
continually operating restaurants in downtown
Burlington. A French bistro and bar, serving lunch,
brunch and dinner. They’re located on the Church
Street Marketplace on the corner of Church and
College Streets. Leunig’s offers some the best
people watching and live music in the area. It has the
panache of Paris and the value of Vermont.
 Pascolo Ristorante – As part of The Farmhouse
Group restaurants, the menu showcases the
wonderful farms and food producers in Vermont.
They use what’s locally available first to create
handmade Italian fare—sausages, pasta, breads, and
more. They are located on the Church Street
Marketplace.
 The Scuffer Steak & Ale House – The Scuffer
prides itself on offering the best quality steak and
seafood in Burlington. They offer daily specials
featuring seasonal and local ingredients, and they
showcase 18 revolving draft beers highlighting the
finest beer around. You can find this wonderful spot
on the south end of the Church Street Marketplace.
 Sweetwaters - An American Bistro with a unique
twist on your favorite eats. For over 30 years,
they’ve served fantastic cuisine with local
ingredients in a family-friendly atmosphere on the
corner of College and Church Streets on the Church
Street Marketplace. With a full bar, extensive menu,
and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating,
Sweetwaters certainly has something for everybody.
 Pizzeria Verita – Neapolitan-style pies married with
craft cocktails make this unique pizzeria a must-taste
in Burlington. Between the quality ingredients,
including house-made sausage using locally sourced
pork, and their imported from Italy wood oven, you
will experience Italy right here in the Green
Mountain State.
Again, we are proud to have “Elle’s Elite Eight”
partnered with us so we can bring you Legally Blonde. Please
visit these delicious restaurants, and thank them for
supporting community musical theatre.
