Robin Hood
Robin Hood
By Nick Perrin
LYRICS
Heading into danger,
King Richard’s knight –
Fighting for freedom,
Sword shining bright.
Robin Hood, our hero…
…Fighting for good,
Prince of Sherwood!
OUR STORY BEGINS
Our story begins back in days of old,
With people in danger, afraid and cold.
The evil Prince John had great plans of
his own,
To rule with deceit, and to steal
England’s throne.
Oh Robin Hood, a good man and true,
Oh Robin Hood, we’re waiting for you.
His legend’s been told for many a year,
How Robin saved England from
evil and fear.
The story unfolds down in darkest Sherwood,
Near Nottingham town rode Robin Hood.
His lands had been stolen,
His father was slain,
And outlawed he rode alone –
Justice his aim.
Oh Robin Hood…
ROBIN HOOD OUR HERO
Riding through the greenwood,
Sword by his side,
Searching for justice,
For England and for pride.
Charging through the forest
Waging Saxon war,
Stealing from rich men,
And giving to the poor
Robin Hood, our hero,
Robin Hood, our friend,
Robin Hood, our hero,
We’re with you to the end.
Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
Fighting for good!
Robin Hood, Robin Hood,
Prince of Sherwood!
Sheriff he was evil,
Stole Saxon lands,
Killing for pleasure
With blood upon his hands.
NOTHING THAT I
WOULDN’T DO
There really is nothing that I wouldn’t do;
I’d sell my own brother if I wanted to.
I’d lie and I’d cheat and I wouldn’t care –
I’d sell my best friend, anytime, anywhere,
For thirty pieces of silver.
Sheriff, sheriff, you’re no good.
No, you ain’t no Robin Hood.
Sheriff, sheriff, waging war,
Feeds the rich and starves the
poor.
There really is nothing that I wouldn’t do;
I’d sell my own mother if I wanted to.
I’d lie and I’d cheat…..
Sheriff, sheriff…..
There really is nothing that I wouldn’t do;
I’d sell King Richard if I wanted to.
I’d lie and I’d cheat and I wouldn’t care –
I’d sell my best friend, anytime, anywhere,
For thirty pieces of silver.
Sheriff / Gisborne duet:
There really is nothing that we wouldn’t
do;
We’ve set our trap as we wanted to.
We know that he’ll come.
’Tis our greatest hope
To see Hood dangle from the end of a
rope
For just one arrow of silver!
RAISE YOUR SWORDS
Gather around the oak tree.
For freedom and justice we fight.
We will never surrender,
Robin Hood’s outlaw knights.
No-one will ever defeat us,
We’re Sherwood’s merry band.
Fighting the Sheriff’s cruelty,
Shoulder to shoulder we stand.
Raise your swords,
You men of Sherwood.
Raise your swords
and fight for good.
Raise your swords,
You men of Sherwood.
Raise your swords to
Robin Hood.
Guarding the throne of England
From the evil Prince John.
Richard our king is returning,
Then outlaw days will be gone.
No-one will ever defeat us….etc.
…Raise your swords to Robin,
Robin, Robin Hood!
TAKE ME ‘CROSS
THE WATER
Robin
Take me ’cross the water, friar,
To the other side.
Let me sit upon your back,
And take me for a ride.
Take me ’cross the water, friar,
Haven’t got all day.
Kneel upon the muddy ground,
Don’t drop me on the way.
Friar
Climb upon my back, please do, sir
Keep your feet held high.
I will take you for a ride
And keep your arrows dry.
Can’t he see that I’m no fool!
I’m really not that dim.
When you mess with Friar Tuck,
You can sink or swim.
Choir sing in harmony, or just
1. or 2. in unison:
1.
Take me cross…
2.
Climb upon….
Choir sing altogether, in unison
or harmony:
Can’t he see the Friar’s no fool?
He’s wiser than he thinks.
When you mess with Friar Tuck
You’ll end up in the drink!

No more to give.

OUR STORY’S TOLD
Our story’s told of days of old
When evil ruled the land,
And a band of outlaws fought for
England’s freedom.
To deep Sherwood came Robin Hood
To lead his Saxon friends.
In the end he was the hero of them all!
With Richard gone it left Prince John
To rule with hate and greed.
It would need someone to stand
against injustice.
Then Robin Hood he fought for good
And pulled the final string:
It would bring great hope and
freedom to the land.
Aim straight, aim true –
England counts on you.
Never give up trying,
Arrows justly flying
Silver arrow shining bright.
Arise, Sir Robin, England’s true Knight.
Silver arrow shining bright.
Arise, Sir Robin, England’s true Knight.
