Sunday 15th February
Sunday Next Before Lent
Welcome to our services today. We hope that you will find warmth and
friendship in this place and God’s blessing and peace as we worship.
At our Communion services, all are invited to come forward to receive bread
and wine. If you would prefer to receive a blessing, simply keep your head
bowed when you come to the front. If you require a gluten free wafer,
please let a Welcomer know.
Junior Church, for all ages, usually takes place in term time during the 10am
service. There are also toys for small children at the back of church.

NOTICES, EVENTS & NEWS
Lent groups—a study of The Psalms
As in previous years, a series of
ecumenical weekly study groups for
Lent will be taking place. Through a 5
week period we will seek to understand what the psalms meant in Bible
times and what they mean for us today. There are 6 groups, all starting in
the week beginning 23rd February:
Mondays at 7.30pm; Tuesdays at
2.30pm & 7.30pm; Weds at 10.30am,
2.30pm & 7.30pm. Please sign up on
the sheet at the back.
Ash Wednesday Holy Communion
Weds 18th February, 8am and
7.30pm. Please come along to mark
the start of Lent.
Experience Easter—can you help?
Children from local schools will be visiting the church during the week of
22nd March to find out more about
the meaning of Easter. Helpers are
needed to read a brief story at each of
the Easter “stations”. If you can help
at any of the following sessions,
please sign up at the back: Mon 23rd
1.45-2.45pm; Tues 24th 9.3010.30am; Tues 25th 1.45-2.45pm;
Weds 26th 1.15-2.15 & 2.15-3.15pm.
Diocesan Courses
There is information on a variety of
courses being organised by the Diocese on the Community Board.
Junior Church
There is no Junior Church today or
next week due to half term. From 1st
March, the leaders will be trialling a
move to the Parish Centre. Watch
this space for more information.
Women’s World Day of Prayer
Friday 6th March, 10.30am at St.
Mary’s. The service has been prepared by the Christian women of the
Bahamas and Revd Rosanne Roberts
will be the speaker.
Spare tickets to the RSC
Nigel Sharp has 2 tickets to The Shoemakers Holiday, 28 Feb, 1.30pm, £38
each. See Nigel if you’re interested.
Churchyard Clear Up
The monthly churchyard tidy up
mornings will be starting again on Sat
21st March (9am-1pm). Volunteers
are always needed to keep the open
space around St. Mary’s looking its
best for all the people who walk
through, come on a Sunday or attend
baptisms, weddings and funerals. You
don’t need to be green fingered! If
you can help, simply turn up.
Refreshments are provided.
News from the Diocese
The Messenger, the monthly newsletter from the Diocese which used to
the included within our Parish Magazine, is now available at the back.
